Toulouse Petit Kitchen & Lounge
Our expansive menus offer culinary diversity and range from traditional Creole and French Quarter menu choices to traditional Parisian and French countryside preparations to more innovative dishes that are entirely unique to Toulouse.
I love love love the ambience. I'm a New Orleans transplant so I know good gumbo. And it is excellent. I recommend it, the Jambalaya and the lamb/boar Bolognese. I wish the prices weren't so high, I get that they need to afford the rent on that amazing room---$50/steak is a little too steep for me. It was a birthday dinner so the candle came to the table in a stack of Beignets. Nice!
The host (a young man with black long hair) was incredibly rude to us. He said that they didn't receive our reservation through OpenTable without even asking me for a name. He nonchalantly threw the menus onto their worst table (next to the door, so very cold from the wind coming in every time someone enters) and said we could just sit there. We asked a worker who walked by whether he could get us a booth and he politely agreed and proceeded to clean a nice table for us. The host intercepted him, discouraging him from giving it to us and then seated a couple at the table we had selected. When we complained, he simply said, "A reservation doesn't get you everything." His colleague, a very nice waitress (a young lady with light, purplish hair), gracefully intervened and took great care of us. She was attentive, understanding, and kind. She got us a better table and provided wonderful service. Despite her making up for her colleague's lack of professionalism, we will never be going back to this restaurant.
It was terrible!! I have been to Toulouse many times and this by far was my worst experience. Our waiter blamed us for everything that went wrong throughout the meal, it took 30 minutes to get drinks and then they brought the wrong entrees. Our beignets were also cold when they came to the table. They were kind enough to comp an entree but by far the worst experience!
I’ve been here several times before and had a great experience- was disappointed with this though!
The food and atmosphere were great, but unfortunately my reservation, though confirmed by Open Table, was not confirmed by the restaurant
We've been to Toulouse Petit many times and we've always had a wonderful time there. Unfortunately this time was a disaster.
The service was wonderful and the food was excellent. The problem was with the table. We were seated at a two-top right next to the entrance. It was a very cold night and each time the door opened we got a blast of very cold wind. To make it worse, as people started coming in and having to wait for a table they had nowhere to wait but next to us. Eventually we were surrounded by people standing over our table as we ate. We couldn't get up to use the restroom or leave without asking people to please move so we could push our chairs back.
A terrible experience all around, all because an otherwise excellent restaurant is trying to jam one more table into each seating.
Even with a reservation, we had to wait 20 minutes to be seated, albeit, it was during peak hours. Nonetheless, the service was lacking severely, the waitress barely came to our table, and when she did she was very rushing and would toss things our way. Maybe I’m being over dramatic, but having been in food myself, I know this is no way to treat a customer.
I was dying to go to this place! I made my reservation super excited in not from Seattle but I was dying to know this place when we got there I told the person who took my order I'm allergy to space food and she brought my food and of course was really spicy I can't understand why in this type of places there is not delicious optios food for people with allergies issues it was really disappointing they end bringing me 6 shrimps and some asparagus for dinner didn't even take the time of asking if I rather something different after my main order was so spicy and I told them I was allergic. I'm sorry but it was a terrible experience for me and my husband who ends really upset because we had to look other place at 10pm for me eat something else.
Toulouse Petit was my choice to dine for my Birthday dinner. We had traveled from Arizona and through my website researched Toulouse Petit really encouraged me to dine over others. Everything was great. My friend however requested her burger to be well done and our waitress made certain of it. Somehow the cook maybe didn’t take our waitress notes seriously and her burger wasn’t well done. The waitress fixed it though, she was beyond awesome! Thank you!
Great ambience, food and service.
Birthday - wait staff was attentive but gave us space, helpful and knowledgeable regarding their food and beverage offerings, and made sure the Birthday was fondly memorable.
Food was delicious even if my partners dish was luke warm. Server seemed spread too thin but nice nonetheless. I suppose that could be expected during prime dinner hours on Valentines Day. All in all we enjoyed ourselves even if it wasn’t perfect.
Two reasons for four stars. The tile floor under the tables in the booths is just encrusted with years of filth. Very unappetizing. Think of what's growing in the grout! And then a smaller quibble: the bread pudding is actually french toast. I didn't quite get how such an easy dish could be messed up. But the jambalaya and the seafood gumbo were delicious!
Celebrating early Valentines Day dinner with my beautiful Wife.
Our #1 restaurant! Toulouse has the most delicious food and invitiving atmosphere. We absolutely love coming here!
Best steak i have ever had. Dimer lighting fine for a romantic dinner. But expect to spend $150+ for 2 if you eant to eat well and drink well.
This restaurant is ALWAYS a wonderful experience! The food is outstanding, and the service and ambiance are excellent. If I had time, I would taste every single dish on the menu.
Food is fantastic. Too noisy for my liking, however.
Really friendly and helpful waitress who explained some of the dishes and let me try grits for the first time! Really delicious food...our friends said it was the best they had had in Seattle so far. Definitely making it a local favorite.
This was our first time back to Toulouse Petit since they got the really bad rating from the Health Department. I checked their rating and they had moved back up to "Good" so I was willing to try again. The mains were very good, as I had remembered, with good strong Creole seasoning on the shrimp and andouille with grits. The kids loved the pork shoulder sugo with ricotta gnocchi. The Dungeness crab salad was terrific. Desserts were hit and miss--the beignets are excellent but the pecan pie had an overly thick crust which made it hard to eat and also kind of fell apart because there wasn't enough of the corn syrup mixture to hold it together. Our server was really distracted; she pulled plates away while we were still eating, forgot a drink I ordered (completely forgot--didn't even come back and ask if I still wanted it), and took dessert orders while one person in our party was still finishing her main course.
Service was terrible. Despite our reservations, we had to wait for 10 minutes to be seated because our table wasn’t set. Our server never came by the table after we were seated. We had to get the attention of the water guy after 15 minutes. After our dishes arrived, we never got serving spoons and had missing utensils. We had to seek out for the server again. She was unfriendly and inattentive. The restaurant was slow that night because of the Suoer Bowl and we still didn’t get any service.
Seating, ambiance, service, drinks, bread all great. Fun place. Rationale being “you don’t go to a Cajun restaurant to order steak,” my wife & I ordered seafood gumbo for soup appetizer, & jambalaya as entree. Gumbo was tasty, but had rice in it which makes it filling. The jambalaya is the concern. We’ve only had jamba in non-N.O. settings, but it’s always been cajun flavored bed of rice with meats/seafood mixed in. Like paella, but Cajun flavored. Here it’s a soup, with a taste we didn’t find appealing. Don’t mean to evaluate the whole restaurant based on eating there once, & based on one dish, but if you’re going Cajun, you gotta knock the jamba out of the park.
What can I say. Service, food was over the top 😁
Dinner before the ballet
Our server was awesome and the food delicious! The space is small and busy, nonetheless, you can hear the people at your table. We were there on a Sunday night and they were out of a couple desserts and entrees but plenty of options.
Love the cauliflower and crab soup. The NOLA salad is magnificent. The two make for a fine dinner. Staff was agreeable to a change in wine when the first one we tasted wasn't good. No argument. Fairly good value.
I often have doubts about a pitcher's ability to turn out quality meals when their menu is as extensive as the one at Toulouse Petit, but I'm always delighted by whatever I order - small plate, salads, seafood, meat, dessert - they do it all wonderfully!
Delicious, well seasoned food per usual. Great menu variety. Only comment was the blackened rockfish portion was much smaller than normal, hoping it was just a one-off thing as I’m a frequent diner here.
Delicious food. Neat ambience
Enjoyable meal in great atmosphere. Noisy and difficult to converse.
We tried this restaurant several years ago and were really impressed with the food. The décor is very original with ambient lighting. The food was really good we tried the jambalaya and it wasn't as spicy as we thought it would be but very tasty.
Toulouse Petit never fails to impress. Wonderful meal in a lovely setting. Our server, Magdalena, was super.
Great service and such welcoming staff. Really a great experience
Always fantastic food with genuine and engaged service
Our server missed a few tens we had ordered and ended up bringing something we hadn’t, but was gracious and friendly and quick to adjust when we needed it. Food is spectacular, always.
Loved it, an all around great experience. Cool tables and great food choices.
Excellent food with an incredibly varied menu. We poured over the entrees forever trying to pick only one.
Good jambalaya and I especially liked the fact that, for the first time, our server asked how spicy we prefer the jambalaya. Previously, I ordered it even though it was often so spicy hot that it practically burned my mouth. The amount of red pepper this time was perfect for me. Good service and reasonable prices.
second visit here .. both have been outstanding .. the sauces are to die for .. the desserts are no slouch either great time . great food
Food was excellent as usual and they have maintained a level of quality over the years. Hands down the most authenticated Cajun restaurant (and in many cases an improvement on the cuisine from New Orleans) in Seattle.
