Creative italian cuisine with impeccable service. Some star sightings—Washington style and the slow pace made for a memorable evening.
Celebrating VD at Tosca was so special this year.
The chef prepared a 4 course feast beyond.
Would highly recommend as one of the best
Italian restaurants currently in DC.
Quiet and nice.
Delicious food. Totally enjoyed everything. A perfect pre-valentine dinner.
My husband and I had tickets to a play at National Theater and decided to have dinner at Tosca before the show. We were very pleased with the choice. The ambiance is very pleasant and comfortable - not frenzied like so many restaurants these days - so it was a relaxing experience, and we could easily have a conversation without shouting. The service was outstanding — friendly, helpful, and attentive, without being intrusive. The delivery of the courses was timed well, so that we were able to comfortably finish our meal without feeling rushed. We both had the 3 course pre-theater diner. The food was delicious and attractively presented. The grilled barramundi we had for the main course was particularly nice - grilled to perfection and served over a bed of vegetables. It was filling, but did not leave us feeling stuffed. Prices are a bit on the steep side, but we felt the pre-theater dinner was very good value for the meal we had.
Consistently some of the best food in DC. Service is friendly and efficient
Absolutely the the best “adult” restaurant in DC. Beautiful quiet place with great food and unsurpassed service.
Always first rate. Never disappoints.
Love this restaurant! It had been awhile since I had been and I don’t know why it took me so long to go back. The food, and our server was spectacular, truly amazing! See you soon!
It was a great experience loved the appetizer, salad pasta & the fish .. i would go back again
A classy downtown restaurant just two blocks from Ford's Theatre, serving three-course early bird dinners at 5 pm, allowing diners to easily finish by 7 pm, and take a five minute walk to Ford's Theatre, arriving at 7:10, easily making the 7:30 performance. Use valet parking, but when you leave the restaurant, do not retrieve your car. Instead, retrieve your car at 10 pm, after walking back from the theatre. So, just ONE parking fee all evening, instead of two. A no-brainer - unless it is raining, of course.
Only downside. Average first and third course. Very good entree. But worth the $45 for three courses. Especially if looking for a convenient, upscale dining destination near Ford's.
We had a wonderful experience. Our server was very knowledgeable with regard to wines and the menu. The atmosphere was nice.
The grilled king salmon was exceptional. I can’t remember a better cooked piece of fish.
Tosca has it all: consistently great food. Excellent Italian wine list. Superb service.
Branzino was delicious. Wine choices excellent. Great service!
Came in with our daughter to celebrate her 19th . Wonderful dining experience! Angela was amazing and made the experience all the more lovely and authentic. Thank you!
Service was fantastic. Food was terrific. Wine list was pricey and a little intimidating because there are so many Italian wines on it but our waiter helped educate us and we ended up with a magnificent bottle that paired perfectly with our meal.
Tosca is the perfect combination of great food and a relaxed, quiet atmosphere for good conversation. The pastas are exquisite--and you can order half portions as an appetizer! The wine list also has some reasonably-priced selections.
Nice place, but the quality of their meat needs improvement. My wife's venison chop was so tough, she had to send it back, and my veal chop was good, but very fatty. The appetizers and pasta were outstanding as was the service. I recommend this restaurant for the service and food with the exception of the meat entrees.
Great service and friendly staff.
Good service. Good food. We had the sword fish and artichoke sides . Both were very good.
I was wrapping up a four month trip visiting friends, landmark parks and sculpture gardens, and promoting a waterfront project, and wanted to treat myself to a very special eating experience before heading to the small Alaska town where I now live. We have limited dining options, especially in winter. Tosca's Northern Italian cuisine did not disappoint. I tried the lunch Menu Del Pranzo. Each course exquisite and beautifully presented, especially the Tiramisu with coffee.
The food and service was excellent as usual,
Party of 4 - we all got the $45 fixed price 3- course offer. Everything was delicious. Service was attentive but not intrusive. But hate when they start clearing plates before everyone is done -Tosca should know better. Otherwise an enjoyable dinner.
An absolutely wonderful meal in all ways. the perfect place for those who value food and service, not noise.
Wonderful dining experience all around! Highly recommend!
We were here for March For Life and was very pleased with this restaurant.
My experience at Tosca was disappointing. I went to Tosca during restaurant week expecting to have the full menu available as well as a supplementary restaurant week menu. I was looking forward to the Mare e Terra salad and Taglierini entree. Unfortunately, the only offerings were off the restaurant week menu. With only 4-5 options per section, the food came out very quickly with a kind of production-line feeling. You got the sense that the appetizers were pre-made and just waiting to be picked up by the wait staff.
Very disappointing that Tosca chose not to offer half portions of pasta as an appetizer selection, a departure from past practice.
Will I recommend this restaurant to a friend? Only if they brought a flashlight. I fell on the one step while leaving the smaller back area, going to the rest room shortly after being seated. Obviously, my evening was far less wonderful than I'd wished. The vast, softly lit area is separated by a subdued illuminated step which blends almost seamlessly into the surrounding decor but does not bring sufficient attention to someone unfamiliar with the space.
The food was artistically plated, well prepared and our server was efficient and pleasant.
Dinner was good. However the restaurant could have more vegetarian options. Adding protein to the pasta in the form of vegetarian meatballs, beans or tofu would make the meal more balanced.
The food was excellent and the service and ambience was very good. The wait staff was very attentive and helpful.
The food, service and ambiance was excellent. They provided an excellent selection for restaurant week in Washington, DC.
Love this restaurant. Food is always consistently excellent as is the service, from waiters to host to sommelier.
Excellent food and wonderful service
Outstanding evening for a group of 7 in terms of excellent dinner, vino, service, ambiance and privacy.
Came early and was seating quickly which added to our comfort level.
would definitely return
Sublime food and understated service -- an outstanding restaurant.
We St visit is amazing. My favorite restaurant in the area!
It was OK, but I had bigger expectations. Maybe because it was restaurant week, the food was acceptable, but not great. My slice of Branzino was not overcooked, but it was thin, small and "uninspired." The tuna tartar appetizer was good. The pasta entrees were small. Deserts were OK. Vino wasn't over-the-top expensive: got a decent $60 bottle. If I had to pay the non-restaurant week prices, and got similar food, I might have been unhappy. Not eager to return.
