Torch Bistro is a casual fine dining experience in the quaint town of Punta Gorda. Open for lunch and dinner with plenty of food options including fish, salads, soups, sushi and steaks. The menus at Torch Bistro provide for an eclectic gathering of different cuisines with everything from Irish egg rolls to Mediterranean salmon. Toss in comfort foods like meatloaf, pot roast and burgers and there is something for every craving. For a starter that is a bit off the beaten path consider the yucca fries or the fried pickle chips. The pork buco is a best-seller featuring 18 ounces of slow roasted pork shank with a rosemary demi-glaze. Torch Bistro also accommodates private parties such as lunch parties, dinner buffet parties, wedding receptions and sweet 16 parties.

All was very good. We thought the food could have been better. Service excellent. Price was "reasonable". Have had lunch there & thought it was better than our dinner.

Too noisy. The bar tender is friendly, but really loud. It's strange that the staff yell back and forth to each other while on the floor. Example: every time a new customer walked in, the staff would yell to each other, "DOOR!!!" Their general behavior does not match the atmosphere the restaurant seems to be aiming for. Service was inconsistent: one moment attentive, the next moment forgetful. The Ahi tuna dinner was served almost cold. The vegetables were swimming in butter or oil. The prime rib was very disappointing. The Thai chicken dish was good. There are many very good restaurants in Punta Gorda. We will perhaps try The Torch again for lunch, but not dinner.

Munched lunch with a good friend during a summer heat wave--not many in the restaurant so think it might be a dinner-time location. Good salads & fulfilled our needs just fine.

The Torch should do something about the noise levels. Even when their not to busy, the noise of conversation, etc, is high. By reducing the noise the experience would be even better. Love the people there.

From comfort food to duck, Torch's menu is full of variety and delicious offerings at very reasonable prices. We highly recommend this restaurant.

I read reviews before going and realized that they probably do some things well and others not to everyone's taste. My husband and I were both pleased with the bruschetta appetizer and the seafood fra diablo and ahi tuna entrees. Our friends not so much. They had the osso bucco and duck. My husband had already inquired on whether the duck was pre-cooked and when informed yes and it wasn't available rare he chose to pass it up. Our friend ordered it anyway. It turns out that was not a good idea as the duck is Peking style and that is always on the dry and tasteless side. Our other friend ordered the osso bucco which is usually very moist and fall off the bone tender after proper braising. This was also dry and far from fall off the bone. My conclusion is that I would eat here again, but, for 1st time dinners careful questioning of the server is a must to find out whether what you are ordering is something you can enjoy. Our server was delightful and did comp the duck meal because it wasn't eaten. She charged for the osso bucco because it was. I thought that was fair.

This is the kind of place that when you walk in the door you just know that it won't be a good experience.We were treating two friends to a night out and they chose the restaurant so we didn't make any negative comments.Our reserved table was not reserved,the wait staff were loud and patronizing,the meal was mediocre,service was very slow,poor ambience....just a place relying on quantity not quality. By the way Open Table you should review your affiliation with this establishment or you run the risk of cheapening your brand.

The decor is very modern. The bartender could not make a Rob Roy and I had stuffed flounder. I thought it might have been a frozen commercially prepared product and they just heated it up. The vegetables were delicious.

Service was exceptional. We were a party of 12 and our waitress, Lenore, could not have been better. Prices on the "summer menu" are surprisingly low, as were the drink specials. We will definitely return.
