Tony's - St. Louis
Saturday: 5:00pm - 10:30pm (Business Casual)
Best restaurant in St. Louis!
Best restaurant in St. Louis. The staff is outstanding, probably the best we have ever seen. The food is off the scale without many equals, and the Bommaritos make you feel like family. It is by far our favorite dining experience!
Best spot in all of St Louis! The service, food and level of care for their customers is unmatched.
A very good American-Italian restaurant. Sadly the dining room has no windows so is a bit sombre, otherwise the decor is good and the seating and tables are comfortable.
Excellent, professional, old-fashioned service. The service made the meal. The food was still very good though.
Great experience. Arrived early for a 7pm reservation. Sat us immediately. Excellent service. Had2 excellent martinis. No rush. Brought a nice assortment of bread and butter. Shared 4 courses. I think this was a good way to get maximum variety. Extremely accommodating to split each dish. Shrimp appetizer sauce was excellent, I thought shrimp was a bit tough. The Captain made a point to tell us he gave us a 4th shrimp vs the normal 3 portion. Thought this was a nice touch until we got the bill and somebody charged us 5 bucks for the extra shrimp. Kind of tacky to make a point of “giving” us something extra then charging us for it. And not asking. We didn’t say anything . The duck confit and mushroom pasta was memorable. Highly recommend this. The salad w hearts of palm and artichoke was ok. Very bright but too acidic, would try something else next time. The swordfish filet was very good. Sauce was excellent. My wife thought a bit dry. Maybe so. Too full for dessert. Complimentary 4 very good cookies. $160 for dinner. 3 martinis and 2 glasses of wine. We would come back. One other point. Almost everything is prepared or finished table side. Our servers prepared ours behind us so we didn’t really get the effect. Would have enjoyed seeing it. .
What an amazing dining experience! We were in Town for a quick overnight trip. Found this restaurant from various reviews. Fell in love with the place the moment we walked in. The servers were professional, courteous, knowledgeable about all aspects of the menu and the wine list. We had a Brunello that was delicious. Their wine list was not extensive (loved that) but had a great selection and well-priced. The food was amazing. We had the prosciutto w melon, bursts w heirloom tomatoes, fettuccine with duck confit and veal sausage-stuffed quail with tenderloin. Can’t say enough about this place.
I always frequent James Beard award winners and nominees. Was shocked Tony's is even highlighted. Service and food were subpar.
I've been taking my mother to Tony's for her birthday for quite a few years now. However, it's just not the same as it used to be. They stopped serving the olive spread a few years back, and we had always looked forward to that. For the last two to three years, there has been no attempt to refill ice tea glasses. This time around, my mother ordered an ice tea when our entrees arrived, and she never got it. Unfortunately, neither our waiter nor anyone else stopped by to see how our meals were or if we needed anything else. We will continue to go to Tony's every year because it is still a special experience. However, I do miss how it used to be in the "old days."
This was our second visit, but the food was outstanding and the service was more than perfect.
Yet their charge is very affordable considering everything they offer.
MUST place to visit in St. Louis if you are a true restaurant lover.
Service was perfect. Food was excellent including table-side preparation.
Excellent variety of food and wine in a classic restaurant setting.
Had a wonderful time at Tony's. Took my husband for his birthday. Everyone was very nice, remembered his birthday. Great ambiance, service, and food!!
My husband and I had a romantic night out at Tony's. The entire evening was relaxing, with fabulous food and great service. Our meal consisted of a shared appetizer of osetra caviar, Tony's salad, entrees prepared tableside - Dover Sole and Trio of Veals, with Zabaglione over Raspberries and Bananas Flambe for dessert. Courses were nicely paced, neither too slow or too quick. We highly recommend Tony's for a wonderful evening out!
Went for dinner to celebrate start of school with my son. Seated promptly per reservation time. Placed and received drink order after seating. That is when our table fell off the service radar. Had to wave down server to place our order after 25 minutes. Bread was brought to table 40 minutes after sitting down. Food was delicious but appetizers and entrees were luke warm even though each was “finished” tableside. A table of 6 diners seemed to occupy most of the attention from the wait staff. Ladies room flush mechsnism was broken and cold water faucet in one sink did not work.
Tony’s is always an exceptional dining experience. Every staff member is there to make sure you are well tended to. My husband and I were celebrating our silver anniversary with our kids and his mother. We had a long, relaxing and very enjoyable evening, first meeting in Tony’s Bar for a cocktail; when our table was ready we were notified and told “no rush” . I have not been here often, but when I have it has been perfect each time. If you want your special evening to be truly special, this is the place to go!
Service we good in addition to the food. Wait staff is friendly and attentive. I am not sure what it is in Saint Louis but non of the restaurants serve warm bread. We did ask for warm bread but it was never delivered. :(
Loved this place!!! Family owned, professional and friendly staff.
Food was fabulous!!
Both the food and service were absolutely outstanding! Can’t wait to go back!
service was very slow and food was just okay. not worth the hype that we had been told about the restaurant.
I came into town to have dinner with a friend who ended up not being able to meet. I had heard about Tony’s for years while I lived here and had never been able to go. So I treated myself to dinner. The staff was so gracious and served me as well as if I had been been with a group. The owner Vince Bommarito visited with me twice - as he did with all the tables. Dinner was wonderful. The wine pairing was perfect. If they had been open on Sunday, I would have bee back!
First visit to Tony’s and will definitely visit again. From the host to the waiters, impeccable customer service. My party was very impressed. The food was delicious and fresh.
Without question, among the finest dining establishments in St Louis and, I insist the Mid-West.
From the curb you are introduced to a hands-on, highly professional staff focused intently in its customers’ needs and expectations.
Welcoming, warm and sincerely engaging, Ken is your first encounter as Maitre ‘d, and the transition from staff member to the next is seamless and delightful.
I would otherwise offer Allen was our majordomo for the evening, however, we lucked out with a visit from Vincent, the owner/manager of Tiny’s for over sixty years. Charming, chatty, knowledgeable he proved to be a highlight and my guest & I felt we were special from his intent attention.
Food was spectacular and the kitchen was most accommodating:
Simply Angel Hair Pasta with garlic and olive oil;
Heirloom tomatoes with watermelon & feta, with a fabulous tomato purée or an asparagus spears and julienne endive with a tangy vinaigrette salad;
Veal Sausage Stuffed Quail and perfectly prepared filet mignon with a delicate mushroom sauce separated by a column of wild rice or and delicately poach Halibut over sautéed spinach; and
Bananas Flambé !!!
Pretty fantastic !!! All enhance with a bottle each of 2014 Chaumiére Sancerre and 2008 Pontet-Canet Pauillac !
I would eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner there but for its restrictive hours !!!
Thank you, Vincent, Ken, & Allen
Wonderful meal with wonderful service. Everyone made our anniversary dinner special. I can’t wait until the next time I get to experience that restaurant.
Tony's does not disappoint. Excellent food served in an elegant, unhurried, understated setting by professionals who provide excellent service.
Great experience overall at Tony’s. Food and service were phenomenal. The only drawback to me is the location. It feels more like a reception room than an upscale restaurant. It’s not nearly as quaint as I’d prefer. I’m spite of that I will definitely return again for the experience.
While enjoying our dinner this evening, my wife and I reminisced about our previous visit to Tony’s back in the mid 1980’s. That time we were celebrating our 25th anniversary...this time it is #55.
The new location is completely new, but the experience is as good as we remembered.
Premier restaurant in St Louis. Exceptional food and service. Convenient downtown location.
was recommended by Trip Advisor, was very impressed, the service and food were amazing. we will go back if ever in St. Louis again.
Excellent service and food—we have never been disappointed. It’s not cheap but worth it. One of a kind in St Louis.
Perfectly classy place with elegance and fantastic food and presentation from all the staff.
Wonderful. From valet greeting to complementary cookies for dessert.
We knew Tony's offer a superior meal but we were pleasantly surprised by how, well pleasant the experience would be. Everyone was so friendly but not overbearing. Vince Bommarito came to every table not once, but twice. The food was exceptional but what really made it special was the atmosphere. We were worried it would be stuffy since it is so well regarded but it was nothing like it. We look forward to going back soon!
Our server Bruce and his partners Eric and Mick (sp?) provided a great service experience. The food was delicious and memorable! As a couple who grew up in the St. Louis area but has lived elsewhere for many years, it is great to know that this St Louis gastronomic institution is still going strong! Keep up the great work.
Tony's is a gem and always was! I have lived here for over 50 years and have gone to Tony's for special occasions always. Vince is a treasure and makes me feel special every time I come.
Came here during a visit as I grew up in St.Louis and we came here many times for special occasions. The best service and food On par with any restaurant in the country.
Expensive, but worth it! As good as it gets.
Fantastic food, exceptional service, and great ambiance. Have already been recommending to friends.
Food and service were great
Mr.Bommarito is a long time friend. It was a great experience as we celebrated our 44th anniversary. It is always a special place to celebrate.
Weeknight out with an out of town guest, head waiter made a remark to my wife when she was ordering that we felt was rude and inappropriate, overall service seemed slow and dessert was not prepared table side as it customarily is. Our guest was not impressed.
The servers were attentive and accomodating, but not intrusive. All 6 meals were excellent, but the halibut was the hit of the night.
The food is excellent, but we had a 7:45 PM reservation and were not seated until 9 PM. By that time, I was on the phone trying to find another high-end restaurant that would still take us on a Saturday night for a birthday dinner. The wait was ridiculous. The manager explained that they allow 2 1/2 hours for each reservation and that people had finished but we’re not leaving their tables. Probably should be invited to l”retire to the bar” when they have other reservations waiting. Or perhaps Tony’s should adopt the two seatings practice of high-end restaurants in major international cities. Anyway, we will never go back on or Saturday night. For our excruciating wait, we were offered free dessert. Since we were going to get one for dessert for the birthday dinner anyway, that was minuscule. Back to the great food – – a special white asparagus appetizer with blue cheese, pasta with duck and mushrooms, veal chop — all delish. Pate appetizer disappointing texture and taste.
