I actually preferred the old look. I regularly wind up being seated in the entrance area leading into the restaurant. The bar now takes up 70% of the floor space. The entertainment is always good but the bar patrons start talking more loudly to be heard over the music,so it gets quite loud. Not as cozy anymore. Food is still excellent. Probably need to go at lunch.
Food and beverages were wonderful!
Rayan (waiter) was amazing. He was friendly, respectful and professional.
Made us feel welcome.
Food was fine but the service was really bad.Our server was not attentive at all,we just saw him when he took our order and when he gave us are check.
Didn’t come back after our food was serve to ask if how’s everything or if we need something else(we dont have enough water)
Just too expensive for what you get. It’s a bar. Ambiance doesn’t warrant these prices. The coconut shrimp is best thing but you only get three and they were overcooked. The crab bisque has been amazing in the past but this night it was floury. The ahi nachos were terrific. I prefer Roy’s.
One of the places in oc for nice casual dinner with really good food. Love their menu options
The service was excellent and the food, crab salad with the halibut entree was EXCELLENT !!!!!
Ambiance is only rated 3 stars due to the fact that we were sitting outside and there was a couple sitting near us whose dog barked on numerous occasions which interrupted our conversation and was an annoyance that persisted throughout our meal.
Tommy Bahama is great place for lunch or dinner. Always great food, exceptional service from friendly staff, and wonderful quiet atmosphere. My friends and I always love this restaurant.
Everything was great
You should offer Stevia as a substitute sugar. All the others at very bad.
Glad my request for a booth was granted
Enjoyed the wine and happy hour food small plates - very tasty n fresh .... only complaint we had to ask for happy hour menu as we were only given regular menu
Enjoyed the live music
Would def go back soon 👍👍
Dinner with 3 young kids. The staff was wonderful and kind to them. Great family dinner experience.
We moved from Newport Beach a few years ago. Had dined here many times. Not loving the new decor. Sparse and cold, as opposed to the previous colorful, warm feel. Really changes the whole dining experience.
The food is excellent, but the place is quite spare in its decoration. Nothing has been done to disguise the fact that this is a restaurant in a strip mall. Plus, we found the seating somewhat hard and uncomfortable. This is not the place for leisurely dining. Our waiter was knowledgeable and prompt. He made great suggestions. We will return if we are looking for great food but don't have the time or inclination to dawdle. (We were in and out in 75 mins. We ordered 2 courses and wine) We thought that the live music was a plus.
Our server Tyler was amazing!
Last visit I had an issue but today was a whole new experience! Great service and a lovely day outside with yummy food . I have to have the Nashville sliders every time ! They too the chicken with just the right amount of slaw and sauce . Well done . Another favorite of my daughters is the tortilla soup ! Thanks staff and well done !
There were so many bugs flying around our food and face during the entire meal, it was terrible. We were inside. I mentioned a few times to our server and she said they were coming from outside and they closed the doors. Still didn’t help the problem. We had birthday cake and before we could have a bite, a bug flew into frosting and got stuck. It was. Pretty bad experience.
Was seated in an overflow section with significantly less charm than the main restaurant. We had made reservations and expected better.
Everything was absolutely fantastic except for the barflies. Literally so many barflies, I think a barely flew into each glass of my party. But oh well, everything else was great!
Favorite is the filet mignonette salad with grilled to perfection steak, potatoes and mushrooms
My wife and I always enjoy having some mai tais here. Food is good, staff are friendly and music make it a great place to frequent.
The food and service were excellent. This restaurant has a problem with gnats, not kidding! They were all around our table and fling in our food. It was awful swatting at the gnats and trying to eat. One gnat died a terrible death when he dove into my wife’s ketchup. Gross.
The remodel is awesome. Nice outdoor patio Beautiful
The only disappointment was the artichokes
The chef must have reduced the spices and herbs because the artichoke was rather bland
Great drinks and food. Favorite was coconut shrimp. Fish was also good.Bartenders was very efficient. Music was great too. Went back the next day
We have been to other Tommy Bahama’s restaurants in Florida, Texas and Palm Desert and we always enjoyed their ambiance and food. This restaurant was very disappointing in terms of ambience and food presentation. It’s really more of a bar than restaurant.
The food and service was excellent! Everything great except we had a problem with small fruit flies Constantly flying around our table and landing on our food. Towards the end two people in my party stopped eating because the flies landed directly on their food! The staff tried to help by bringing out small candle at our request and another small cup that could have been a trap of some kind. Unfortunately nothing worked. We noticed the same kind of fruit fly in the Tommy Bahama shop adjacent to the restaurant. I hope this helps and you can get rid of those little pesty flies!
I have dined at Tommy Bahama Newport Beach for years and loved it. This experience fell short. The coffee-rubbed steak lacked flavor, tenderness and coffee rub. My partner's Thai curry dish was okay. In addition, since the renovation of this restaurant, it is no longer a special experience, it's now nice diner in nature. Disappointed. The manager did take the steak off of the bill and the staff were great.
Great as usual
Great experience! Made it in time for happy hour! Everything was delicious and Mai Thai’s were amazing! Great service as well!
Good food and great customer service . Not dressy and great ambiance
The food & service were great but we were very disappointed that your outside patio dining is no longer dog friendly as it had been in the past. We often have our dog with us when we are near the restaurant & we were sorry to learn that it is "service dogs only" now. You will not be seeing us as often for lunch now!
Their baby back ribs are excellent and tasty with a blackberry bbq sauce. Will definitely have them again.
Celebrating a birthday. The food and the service was excellent. Love the new look to the dining area.
Top Notch service from the hostess to our waiter. 100%
Our waitress was great! Our table was just right. We'll go back again soon.
Everyone was great
Superior service, excellent live entertainment and great food! A terrific combination.
This used to be one of our favorite restaurants...NO MORE!!!
It now looks like a IHOP with no ambiance. The menu is pricey and service mediocre.
Won't go back unless I have to.
We’ve been going to Tommy Bahamas for years. The new design is very commercial and not island vibe. The sectioned off seating made us feel like we were placed with the quiet old folks and we felt separate from the other guests and service. Service was SLOW, and not because they were busy, because they weren’t. Our apps and soups were served at the same time so everyone had two plates to eat quickly before the main plate. I don’t think we will be returning.
