Our family-friendly Italian restaurant is conveniently located in the Montgomery Village Shopping Center at the corner of Sonoma Avenue and Farmers Lane.

Tomatina is a classic Italian restaurant. As a sharp contrast to fine Italian dining, this is a place to enjoy a glass of wine and unwind with unpretentious pasta dishes served in hearty portions. We got seated right away. A large part was seated next to us, so my son and I quickly put in our orders to beat theirs. We got our order taken very quickly, and just had simple entrees. We sat there while the server took the order for the giant party well after we ordered. Somehow, they still got all of their food before we ever saw ours. It was a long wait. The food was fair quality and value was terrible. I tried to pay online but my bill was combined with another table and was almost $200 when all we had ordered was a salad and calzone. It was stupid.

Such a yummy relaxing but upscale restaurant. I go off times midweek lunch or early dinner and never too packed or loud. Really fresh, flavorful clean feeling good- even with the carbs! Service has always been friendly, sweet and efficient. Fast service with not too much unnecessary interruptions. I crave the caprese piadini!

This restaurant is consistently good. The food is tasty, and the wait staff prompt and helpful. There are no "specials" on the menu (that always remains the same), yet there are a variety of dishes for reasonable prices.

Destiny was a wonderful waitress. She was very at tentative. After my toddler dropped her water on the floor Destiny gave us another water container with a fool proof lid for toddlers which was great! The food is good, not too salty. I loved my salmon dish with spinach and pasta. The food is classic Italian but has good flavors.

Went in on Memorial Day for the price fixe special dinner. For the dinner the salad was very good, fresh and not too much dressing on our mixed greens. I had Chicken Parmigiana and my wife had Chicken Marsala. Both dishes were served with spinach and pasta and were quite good. The only mistake we made was ordering the Fried Calamari. It was one of the worst appetizers I think I have ever had. Overcooked, rubbery and very small serving portion. That was the only item that ruined a perfectly good meal.

The server Manuel was spot on. He paid close attention to our needs with 2 small children. He brought out the food hot and timely, visited the table to make sure things were going well and made a special trip to see if we wanted a second glass of win. 5 stars for Manuel

Don't get me wrong, we like Tomatina. This trip just didn't work out so well for us. We went for the Easter Brunch. We were surprised to be the only ones there at 11 am and that there was no brunch menu, but simply mimosas and eggs benedict, that was all. Some in our party were disappointed that there weren't more choices. In addition to that, the (extremely unbusy) chef forgot to put the prosciutto on the bennies and when we asked about it the server said it didn't come with prosciutto. She then went and asked the chef who admitted their mistake and gave us some really nicely cooked prosciutto (after we were half way through with our meal). It seems to me, in realizing that I got the email promoting the mimosas and benedict just the night before, that it probably wasn't promoted well, or for long enough. It also would have been helpful to have known that it wasn't a full brunch. All of this being said, we will still visit Tomatina.

Pleasant enough people, but the food is nothing special. We went for the restaurant week lunch. This has , in the past, been our chance to be impressed enough to want to go back. They just gave us their standard lunch specials and let us choose. The spaghetti sauce was very ordinary.

We went during restaurant week and felt that the $10 lunch was an outstanding value for what was offered , Anappetizer of either soup or salad, and choice of five different entrées. I did expect the pasta dish to be more flavorful so unfortunately, I think the food was a bit disappointing.

My dish was not as expected. The food server came off as disinterested. We were visiting the area and had gone to Tomatina in Walnut Creek previously. That is an excellent restaurant, this one is not.

We stopped in for drinks during happy hour before going for a walk and coming back for our 6 o'clock res. When presented the bill for drinks it was $27. Asked server what cost would have been if it were not happy hour. He said we didn't say we wanted happy hour service. He also didn't ask us if we were drinking on happy hour. This amount for two drinks, on or off happy hour is poor, considering there aren't even paper place mats on the tables or were we asked if we would like water. In the end I had to chase down the server for our desert. He had removed our dinner plates close to 10 min prior.

I was only able to rate service and ambience. Was celebrating our great grandson's 3rd birthday. Had a 6:30 reservation and no one at front to greet anyone for over 5 minutes. Finally get seated walking in with 3 gigantic balloons, we could hardly be missed. After getting settled, 4 adults, a 3 and 1 year old, we realized no one had even set eyes on us. No waters no menus, it's like we were invisible. We got the sneaking suspicion this was going to be a long dinner and that wasn't going to work out with small children. We noticed the QR menu and pay sign on the table. A couple of us tried it and the pay part on my granddaughter's phone popped up that she owed $173. She had never even been there before, none of us have. I couldn't get the menu on my phone. My daughter went up to one of the workers and asked when our waiter was going to come to the table and she said someone would be over but that still never happened. After at least 20 minutes of waiting my daughter said we should go try the new pizza place she recently went to on 4th Street, L'Oro Di Napoli. By then we made a split decision to get out of there before waiting another minute longer. I was really looking forward to some pizza and pasta because that's what my great grandson loves but we just could not risk the possibility of a marathon dinner. So we all got up, balloons, kids and all and exited while watching to see if anyone noticed and not one of the workers looked up or even paid attention to our exit. WOW, it was unbelievable. I also want to comment from another review about it looking like a Denny's. I thought the same thing, no ambience at all and very outdated. We ended up at L'Oro Di Napoli at 629 4th Street and they were about to close but welcomed us in and we had the best pizza I've ever had. Just delicious and the crust was light as a feather. The service at L'Oro Di Napoli was spectacular too!!! A must try.
