Chef Maycoll Calderón was born in Venezuela, and grew up with a passion for cooking. He embarked on a journey to Spain to launch his career under the mentorship of chefs including Karlos Arguiñano, Juan María Arzak, and Ferran Adria, learning from some of the best in the world. He eventually landed in New York, where he worked for Jean-Geroges Vongerichten, developing and opening several restaurants around the world with him, including Jean-Georges and The Mark by Jean-Georges in NYC, Fern in Puerto Rico, and J&G Grill in Mexico City. Calderón oversees his restaurants down to the last detail, spending his days and nights in the kitchen, interacting with guests, and constantly creating new dishes. The success of Huset inspired Calderón and Meyenberg to bring their forward-thinking, truly Mexico City-style of cuisine to Los Angeles with the opening of Tintorera

    This place is closed! Drove all the way there and it’s not open. Remove from open table options. Such a waste of time.

    We had a reservation, when we showed up the door was locked and nobody picked up the phone. Would have been nice if you found a way to notify people who have reservations that you do not intend to work that day.

    The restaurant was closed, so not really sure how Open Table can have reservations available for restaurants that are closed permanently. It was very inconvenient to travel 1hr across LA to find the restaurant not operating on a Saturday night.

    why on earth is this restaurant still on here taking reservations. Its closed and not only, we, but others turned up to eat on Friday! How ridiculous the Restaurant doesnt let people know its closed. It really does spoil at celebratory Friday night when you find out the place you booked isnt even operating.

    This restaurant was closed when we tried to go there. We had a reservation for Easter Brunch through Open Table, but no one bothered to contact us to let us know that the restaurant was permanently closed. Huge disappointment.

    I was so excited to celebrate my birthday here based on the rave reviews, a friend's recommendation, and overall vibe of the restaurant. I tried to make reservations for my party over the phone but after days of unresponsiveness, I started to worry that they were closed despite having an active social media presence inviting followers to join for "brunch". I had to see for myself, so I visited the restaurant on a day they were supposedly open, and not to my surprise the front door was locked. There was no sign indicating Tintorera was closed for the day. Having thought it was a one-time incident, I visited the place once more and the same situation occurred. Door locked. People outside w/ reservations from Open Table and Resy totally confused. There was 0 communication. It's such a shame, because this restaurant had the potential to be one of the best and most unique in the heart of Silver Lake. Not sure what happened, but would have been courteous of them to notify Open Table, Resy and their potential visitors that they are temporarily out of business. Anyway! My two cents! Wish them well and hope there is an opportunity in the future to review an actual visit.
