Food is delicious. Prices are high but food was worth it.
Way overpriced for sub standard food. Nothing we had was memorable and definitely not worth the inflated prices they charged. Dessert on Opentable is out of date. Disappointing birthday meal.
Our visit was outstanding and we loved the COVID partitions. Felt safe while enjoying time out.
Phil was the best server we have had in quite some time, anywhere! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves for over two hours and Phil was quite an added blessing to us! My salmon was delicious and my husbands prime rib was cooked as he ordered- very good experience! Thank you!
Waiter was excellent, food was good, but very expensive.
The food was as good as advertised. This was my first time there.
I was very disappointed in the service. I have been enjoying Timbuktu for 20 years and probably won’t return. The sever was slow and rude. The manager had to come take our order and then we waited an hour for our food to be brought out. Of course the crab cakes are always a WIN ,but it’s the service that deters us. Not to mention we drove an hour to get here.
Great experience. The restaurant took every precaution to make me feel safe. This was my first time but will definitely be going again.
Kevin our server was outstanding. Really hustles, knows menu and is very customer friendly. Great guy!! This place has super crab cakes with lots of back fin meat and very little bread crumbs as a binder. Kitchen sure knows how to cook this just right. Price was not too bad considering the shortage and crab meat prices generally.
the wait for food was terrible and everyone got their food at different times so by the time the last person got their food the first two were done. the server said another server took my food to their table and we had to wait for ours in which we had already been wait a long time.
I understand restaurants are severely understaffed so I am sure this is why service was so bad. We sat for about 20 minutes before we were greeted. Ordered drinks, apps and food at the same time since it took so long to get someone. It took 20 minutes to receive some apps. However, salads and soups took an extra 15 minutes. Cream of crab soup was so sold that it was thick and lumpy. Food came about an hour after we ordered it. We did not receive drinks (sweet tea, root beer, and one bar drink) until we were done eating.
Had a wonderful birthday celebration at Timbuktu. Everyone loved their crab cakes. Eddie our server did an excellent job. Recommended to all.
Everything was good except the whipped mashed potatoes. It tasted like extremely bland box mashed potatoes. The jewel of the sea was great. Broccoli was good as well.
After not visiting for a while because the quality of food had suffered we decided to give it another try and was not disappointed. The Food was Amazing and our Waiter Eddy was on Point with the Service and Professionalism... Will definitely be going back in the near future.
Food was bland… soups, seafood, veggies, whipped potatoes. Shrimp not cooked well. Server not interested. Only good item was the quantity of scallops once you add Old Bay to season them. Overall, not a good experience.
Excellent food and service!! Thank you
I was very disappointed. Had the spicy seafood pasta. Very bland and very spicy. It tasted like hot tomato sauce. I did not expect it to be great but it was just not close to acceptable. Crab cakes were good. If I go back I won’t be trying the pasta.
Great seafood as usual, and the solids we especially great!
Server was amazing, food was perfectly done. Great experience!
I usually go to another place (G and M) for crab cakes but thought I’d try your crab cakes as many like them…however, it was very disappointing…
I made a reservation for 8:30pm and went to reception @8:28 pm and was told to wait until 8:30pm. Then I was told to wait 10 more minutes. At 8:40 pm I was told to wait until a table was ready. I watched about 16 people finish their meals and walk out. However when I went back to inquire about when my table would be ready I was told the tables had to be cleaned and wasn’t sure how long that would be. I was seated about 10 minutes later. I waited over a hour to get a waiter. The food finally came and it was cold and old. We received a basket of bread that was half cooked. Steak was under cooked. Shrimp and fish over cooked. And crab cakes were horrible.
Website is inaccurate - they stated they had outdoor seating and they do not. We chose not to eat there because of this
Food was great. Just like a lot of the Resturant’s today, they have a limited staff but they did well over all!!!
Made an reservation. No waiting. The food was delicious and reasonably priced.
The food was amazing like back in the day, Timbuktu is back!!! And Kevin our waiter was AMAZING!!!! Kevin gets a 10 out of 10!!!
FOOD WAS GREAT, SERVICE BETTER WILL BE BACK AGAIN.
We all agreed the crab cakes were not made from MD blue crab. For those prices, they should have been. Service was mediocre at best, yet an 18% tip was automatically added to the bill. We won't be returning.
I have been dining happily at Timbuktu for many years. While the food this time was quite good, the cost of my meal had more than doubled, which was acceptable only because I was the guest of my companion. The dim ambiance and indifferent service were acceptable only as concessions to precautions necessitated by the current pandemic. I shall look forward to Timbuktu's restoration when the pandemic ends, but will not visit or recommend it in the interim.
Timbuktu food never disappoints. It's been 5 years since I've been able to enjoy there food. It was just like it was then. Excellent quality seafood.
Seems the restaurant has fallen from grace. The quality of the food is not what it was.
The waiter we had did not tend to us like he did his other tables. Didn't have a drink the entire meal because he did not come back to the table once we got our meals. He had a little attitude like it bothered him to wait on us.
The food was great. Leftovers were even better. Will go again!
Food was good…service was ok
Celebrated moms 82nd Birthday thought we would receive a complimentary dessert as most restaurants do BUT didn’t receive anything … another server gave birthday person a cupcake but our server must have forgotten even after he wished my mom a happy birthday 🤷🏽♂️
We dined at this restaurant after a memorial service. We were seated in a private space, which was nice. Our server was pleasant, but was incompetent. It took a long time for him just to take the orders, and did not refill water or drinks without prompting. We were not offered condiments with or food; we requested tartar and cocktail sauce and there was a long wait. Many in our party ordered the cream of crab soup and it was so bland. His suggestion was to add Old Bay. (Would it have been better to alert the chef or offer something else?). The food was reminiscent of hospital food, that was unsalted. So what would have been a good crab cake was tasteless. We enjoyed the private space, but the meal was awful.
Generous portions. The crab cake, shrimp and scallops were very good. The lobster tail not so much. I had the broiled seafood platter. If I were to go again, I’d stick to the crab cake.
First and foremost biggest crab cake I have ever had. Other dishes ordered were excellent. The only drawback was the ambience. The interior is an old version of a 1960's Baltimore restaurant.
Food and ambiance were amazing.
Service was slow, but orders were correct.
Crab cake was ‘eh’. But the lobster was fantastic!! Price was fair.
The open table app allows you to make outdoor seating reservations however they do not have outdoor seating.
Zack our waiter was amazing. The food was perfect and delicious. Will return very soon!
We had a great time. The food was very good. I had the Prime Rib, and it was very good but there was no aujus on the side. The size was huge. Enough for two.
Wife had Crab Imperial. Also huge portion, and delicious. Server was good, but disappeared a lot.
