The crab cakes are delicious!
Stopped by on the way to BWI and was very pleased with our meal. Quality of seafood was delicious and appropriate portions for two.
Good food. Good ambience
It was nice!
While I understand the reservation was late in the evening the food quality was rather poor.
My wife and I met my grandson and daughter for Lunch at Timbuktu - we had reservations for 5 but lost my son in law so we got a table for 4 in the lounge - I only mention that because on a Saturday afternoon it was noisy as expected . I don't recommend that if you want a quiet lunch or dinner to actually try and hold a conversation. Ann was our server with a dry sense of humor that once you catch on was a delight - in addition to being a 1st rate server. The food as usual was off the charts fantastic - my Grandson somehow ate entire Rib eye steak , the gals got a shrimp salad that I couldn't eat in two days and I got the stuffed shrimp that was the best I think I ever had . I also enjoyed two JD Manhattans from a bartender who definitely knew his trade - excellent drinks . We live in Annapolis so we only get up to Timbukto when I can capture my daughter and one of my grand kids that live between Hanover and Towsen. Wish it was closer .
this was my birthday and apparently when the server collected money from my guests something was miscalculated. My food was paid for by one of my guests, so there should not have been a shortage. I ended up having to pay $51 for the shortage caused by the server not collecting the correct amount from my guests. I was not happy with that. I’m not sure if he only collected for their food without including their tip, but I had to pay for it. I don’t think that I will have another large party come there again although the food was good. I was pretty disappointed with this. Lisa Morrison
Great food like usual. Service was a little bit slow as to be expected on New Year’s Eve, but still good.
Food was delicious! I preferred a crab cake and shrimp combo but went with the added rockfish which was bland. Also had to remind waiter several times to replenish our drinks.
The food quality was poor and the service was slow.
Service was excellent, very engaged waitress and food came very quickly. Value was ranked only 'good' because of high price relative to food quality.
Food was wonderful service was great. The manager checked in on us
The food was very good. The hostess was very nice and very pleasant.
Love those crab cakes! Server, Ann, was fun and efficient. I definitely will be back soon.
The food was disappointing the food was dried up I ordered sea food platter, French fries was cold but did replace, carrot cake was dried and crab dip had no taste was too cheesy and little crab meat. Next time I will go to Jerry's Sea food in Bowie. A truly disappointed customer
Everything was good. Service was quick and server responded to our needs.
We arrived early and were provided with seats in the bar area. The service was horrible. We had to call for a manager, whom had to come to take our order. He did pay for our first drinks although we had to wait 30 minutes just to get them. It seemed to be only one server trying to take care of a large bar area. That was unacceptable. The food was good but it was tarnished by the poor service.
People go to Timbuktu for the food and it has never let us down. Felt sorry for our waitress, she was beyond busy BUT I give her 5 stars because when she got to us took both our drink and dinner order to save time. It worked for us.
We will be back and HIGHLY RECOMMEND making reservations or be prepared to wait.
Great food, excellent service. The staff was outstanding
Crab cakes, scallops, shrimp and crab soup (half/half) are divine! The steak tips were overcooked, the lobster was chewy and the ribs were not as fresh as I would like. Service was great and there is a real raw ambiance about the place. We will be back and stick to seafood.
We have been going to Timbuktu for years and it never disappoints.
Still the best crab cakes. Apps were great and service has improved . Overall great meal.
My wife and I had the turkey special on Thanksgiving Day. The turkey was tough, the green beans were bland, the cranberries were like they came straight out of the can. I should have ordered off of the regular menu. We are visiting from out of the area. We all probably try this place again. I don't think we gave it a fair shot on Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving with a twist!!
No wait. Clean. Good food. Friendly service.
We had a great time and really enjoyed our meals.
I haven't eaten at Timbuktu for several years and was hoping that the food was as good as I remembered it being. I am so pleased that I invited my Son and Nephew who was visiting from Chicago and had never eaten at Timbuktu before. Our waitress was very friendly, had a pleasant personality and attended to all of our needs with a beautiful smile in her face. We all ordered crab cakes and they were delicious, some of the best crabcakes I've ever eaten. No filler, large sweet chunks of crab meat. I enjoyed my baked potato and coleslaw as well. Needless to say, I will gladly return to Timbuktu to eat in the future and will tell friends to eat there also.
This was the first time we have been to Timbuktu. It had come highly recommended from friends for a very long time! So glad we went. We will definitely be back. Excellent service!
We were delayed by traffic, arrived less than 10 minutes after my reservation and the hostess told me it was cancelled at 10 minutes. There was quite a crowd waiting to be seated, but they
Gave us a buzzer and told us we would be seated shortly and we were. I was surprised with the wait to be seated in a half empty dining room, but figured they must be short on help.
Our server was good overall, but i did have to request a napkin and fork twice before receiving them during the salad course.
Our food was ok. Our friends ordered the crab cake and the filet which they seemed happy with. My husband has the sea scallops which he enjoyed quite a bit. I ordered the chicken cordon bleu which was surprisingly bland. It was also covered in a mushroom sauce which was a surprise . I missed the mention of Mushrooms which I am not a fan of.
All in all it was an average dinner experience which I found to be somewhat over priced
I really enjoyed the food. Celebrated my birthday with my family and everyone was satisfied. No complaints! Steak cooked exactly as I ordered. Crab cakes of course were on point. Definitely will be back.
Yes food is outstanding as was table service.
Issue was reservations has them for 6:45 wasnt seated for over 30 minutes. Why have a reservation?
Everything was great, the table next to us was very loud and at times it was hard to hear normal conversation with others at my table.
Awesome crab cakes. They never disappoint. Brought new guests for the first time and they were impressed.
Ordered medium rare lamb chops and they came well done
Shrimp cocktail was bland as I suspect they are farm raised vs wild
We had a birthday dinner for a family member for about 11 people. The food and the service were both great! We are returning customers and will continue to go to this restaurant.
This was a first time experience. We will definitely be back. Everything from walking in the door until we left was amazing. Very friendly people. Food was outrageous. Our server went out of his way to accommodate all of our requests. Highly recommend everyone tries out Timbuktu.
For the price of the food I wouldn’t really recommend going here. The lobster was spoiled which was a shame because the first bite was delicious. The crab cakes were full of filler and overall subpar. The service was good though pretty scattered on the check ins. There wasn’t really any positive notes other than the drinks being good and we got soft drinks. The food tasted like stuff from the grocery store and for the price it wasn’t worth it.
I made a reservation and we were seated on time. I haven't been to this restaurant in years. The prices have skyrocketed! I got the surf and turf. The "crab cake" was more like a round crab imperial and not a cake. The food was delicious, but the price, $113 for two people, will probably keep me away.
Still the best crab cakes in the area. A friend was in town for the weekend and wanted Maryland's best blue crab cakes. Timbuktu delivered.
Great service food was excellent
