   The jambalaya was poor. I’ve had it several times and each time it was very good, not this time. The chicken was dry. The scallops were undercooked, and the shrimp was tough. My wife had a chicken dish and her chicken was just OK. For $100 dinner I would’ve expected more. There’s no choice of a side salad.

   I didn’t realize that the brunch was buffet only for Mother’s Day and initially was disappointed but everything was amazing. Great variety and each item was prepared with care and and looked and tasted delicious. Definitely a place we will visit again

   It was a hopping brunch crowd for Mother’s Day, but the staff kept everything moving smoothly. Our waiter Walter was very pleasant!

   We love this place! The food and service is top notch; however, the Mother’s Day Brunch Buffet was poorly executed in my opinion. The Buffet was set outside on the deck far away from the patrons seated on the other side of the restaurant . We had to walk through the restaurant and the large crowd checking in at the front desk to get to and from our table. My mother has a bad ankle and had trouble maneuvering through the crowd with her plate and coffee (which was also self serve) . We noticed a few elderly experiencing the same issues. If someone was in a wheelchair, there is no way they would’ve been able to access the area, they would definitely have to have someone get a plate for them.  For the price that the Buffet was jacked up to today, it was not worth it due to the hassle of getting to and from the food and beverages. It would have made more sense to have two Buffets set up on both sides of the restaurant or one big one in the middle for the patrons to reach more easily. I am not sure if this is the first time they have hosted a buffet like this, so maybe there’s a learning curve to it.  Definitely not going to stop us from returning, but will probably pass on any future Buffet offerings. Mom still enjoyed her food, so that all that matters! :)

   The food was fair, but the whole set up needs to be redone. There was no service at your actual table for anything. If you wanted coffee or juice, he had to get up and go get it, which probably wouldn’t be terrible acceptable right in the middle of the line to try to get food as well. The extensive lines and then when he got up to get the food a lot of it was out and at one point, they weren’t even plates to get the food. It would’ve been a lot better if they at least could’ve offered table service for the drinks, especially for some of the more elderly Patrons that were there today. To be honest, we were kind of looking forward to the standard crunch, and not the buffet. Anyway, the experience was fair at best.

   Mother’s Day Brunch – A Bit Chaotic, but Still Enjoyable We visited The Jockey Tavern for their first-ever Mother’s Day buffet brunch with a reservation booked weeks in advance for 10:00 AM. We arrived around 9:50 and were surprised to find two long lines outside the restaurant. We waited about 15 minutes past our reservation time to be seated, which was disappointing—especially with no clearly marked line for those with reservations versus walk-ins. It seemed like staffing at check-in may have been an issue. Once seated, the experience improved. The dining room was nicely renovated and well-spaced out—we didn’t feel crammed in, even with the crowd. The buffet layout was decent considering the volume of guests, and we were lucky to beat the rush to the food line. Food was average overall—what you’d expect from a buffet—but the bacon was a standout. Going back for seconds took a bit longer due to the growing line. Service at the table was very good. Our server was attentive with coffee refills, water, and plate clearing, which we appreciated. While the food and logistics left room for improvement, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the highlight was simply spending a beautiful morning with my four adult kids. With some adjustments to check-in logistics, future events like this could run more smoothly.

   i had an overall good experience but they sat us in front of a door that constantly hit my chair every time someone came in or out. There should not have been a table in that spot in the first place. wiil think twice before going back

    Pros: Nice place, clean and bright. A pleasant and helpful hostess. Our server, Alyssa, was very friendly and competent. Great calamari appetizer, best we’ve had in quite a while. The brisket nachos appetizer was gigantic and could be a full meal in itself. The Jambalaya was well seasoned and had plenty of seafood in it. The drinks were adequately alcoholic, unlike some restaurants that skimp on the liquor. Cons: It was uncomfortably chilly in the bar dining room. The other dining room could have been warmer, but we didn’t want to be seated there because the noise level was too high (even on a Thursday evening). We notified our server of the chilly conditions and we think there must have been a glitch in the HVAC system that management rectified, because halfway through our meal the room temperature became more comfortable. We found that the brisket nachos appetizer, while quite large, was too bland. A bit more seasoning on the meat would help. Conclusion: Happy with portion sizes. Except for the nachos the flavors were good. The cost is similar to other restaurants of this kind. A return visit is likely, particularly if we could have Alyssa as our server and could be seated in a relatively quiet spot.
