    Unfortunately, my experience at this restaurant was far from what I had hoped for. Upon arrival, I was ignored by four staff members who were clearly assigned to seat guests, yet not one of them acknowledged my presence. It created an awkward and unwelcoming start to the evening. While others at my table seemed to enjoy their meals, mine was a different story. I ordered a steak, which turned out to be extremely tough and chewy — not at all what I would expect from a place that positions itself above the average pub. I requested that it be cooked further in hopes of salvaging the dish, but it returned to the table in exactly the same state. Frankly, I’ve had much better steaks at my local pub, or even cooking at home. To make matters worse, the sides we ordered never arrived. I appreciated that the restaurant removed the steak and sides from the bill, which was the right thing to do, but it did little to salvage an overall poor dining experience. In short, I left disappointed and unlikely to return. There are too many great places out there to waste another evening here.

    Thank you for your feedback — I’m truly sorry your experience fell short. We aim to provide a warm welcome, and I apologise you weren’t acknowledged on arrival. With only one host on duty, the other staff you saw were attending to seated guests, though you still should’ve been greeted promptly. Regarding your meal, I’m sorry your steak was not up to standard. It was relayed as undercooked, and had we known the issue was with the cut or texture, we would’ve offered a replacement. I also apologise the sides didn’t arrive — that’s not acceptable. While I’m glad the team removed the items from your bill, I understand that didn’t make up for the experience. Your feedback has been shared with our team to help us improve.

    We went on Sunday and had the set lunch menu. Excellent food, excellent value. Unfussy service. This was the best steak I've had in Australia , it was cooked perfectly. Very much enjoyed our lunch.

    It is not often that you find a venue that has amazing food, service, venue and value, but the Woodhouse ticks all boxes. Great for business meals.

    Although we have dinned many times at the Woodhouse and always had a great experience, on this occasion, we came across much difficulty trying to secure a table for nine people (2 families) even though our enquiries over the phone and via email were made 2 months prior to booking. We were extremely disappointed with all the difficulties and conditions attached while trying to make the booking and finally were not offered the table we required. We chose to book online with one family booking a table of 4 and the other family a table of 5, but even then, we couldn’t get them at the same time so they were booked 30 minutes apart. After spending a considerable amount of money at such a Restaurant like this, it would have be nice if the two couples could have dinned together with their partners rather than be divided over two tables in two different rooms. There were obvious spaces where a table of nine could have easily been arranged. I understand that establishments may have their policies in place for whatever reason, but their ability to be inflexible in making it work for the number required, seems to put the Woodhouse in place where it has lost its understanding of hospitality. While dinning, the waitress could not explain the cut of Wagyu being offered on the specials boards so in the end, out of 9 people dinning, four Wagyu Rostbiffs were ordered and even though they were cooked medium, each of them was tough, chewy and unseasoned. Our countless dining experiences at the Woodhouse had us coming back for more, but unfortunately after this experience, this will be the last time we dine at the Woodhouse or recommend it to anyone we know.
