Afternoon tea is a beloved British tradition that has been enjoyed for centuries. It consists of a scone with clotted cream and jam and a variety of sweet and savory treats. My friend and I went for afternoon tea. Julia welcomed us and showed us to a cabinet from which my friend and I each chose our own tea pot. After being seated, we selected our tea from a wide selection of herbal and caffeinated teas. We sipped those while waiting for the sandwiches and pastries to be served. What a delight! They arrived on a three-tiered stand, filled with cucumber and egg-salad sandwiches, two types of scones, various small pastries filled with cheese and jam, and a variety of sweets. The food was delicious and abundant; enough for us to take some home. The chef chooses the menu, so it is pre-determined and changes from day-to-day. The ambiance is quiet, in a beautiful white old house set on land shaded with old trees. It is in the country, yet convenient to reach. It took me 30+ minutes from Durham to Mebane. Tables were set with white cloths and black napkins, with flowers in a vase. There were two other tables with guests, who were speaking softly, as were we. Instrumental music was playing in the background. The ambiance, food, and service all made it a special time. My friend and I both highly recommend it and will go back.

The White House on Washington was delightful and the food was amazing. The atmosphere is so pleasant. Be sure to block out more time in your day to visit Mebane’s downtown area. It was beautiful! We will absolutely be back!

We had a Mother’s Day tea party!! It was a lovely experience. Highly recommend. We had so much fun tasting the different tea options and the food was great!

Lovely afternoon yea with an authentic British flavor (unlike many US afternoon tea offers - I am British so I can say that with confidence!). If you are a Bridgerton fan you will love this! Very nice service too and a beautiful setting. Highly recommended.

From the lovely venue and service to the superb selection of teas and treats, our Afternoon Tea was a delightful celebration to behold! The food was scrumptious (warm scones fresh out of the oven with delicious savory and sweet treats). The tea selections are exceptional and prepared individually in a beautiful self-chosen teapot...such a unique way to create a special experience for each participant! We will be back!
