The White Horse inn was built in the 17th century as a farmhouse, the architectural details suggest it was built in the early 1600's, maybe as early as circa 1600. There are several examples of stop chamfer moldings on the beams in the downstairs bar and restaurant that are typical of this date. The wide oak floorboards on the first floor and attic also suggests 17th century as does the positioning of the inglenook fireplace. The quality of the timber frame indicates a high status house and unusually thetimbers on the first floor appear of a higher quality than the ground floor.

    We ate from the specials menu and enjoyed the Trout cooked in garlic and ginger with king prawns, new potatoes and fresh salad. I haven’t enjoyed such a tasty meal in ages. It was lovely. The lady who served us (I’m so sorry I don’t know your name) is absolutely fantastic. Warm, friendly and lovely. Many thanks to all the team at the Whepstead White Horse, always a great experience.

    Excellent hot food. Well presented in nice surroundings. Good size car park. Ambience very good in very old pub

    A lovely lunch with my dad yesterday, great food and helpful staff. We went with my two dogs, and they were able to sit under our table. My dad's mobility issues were accommodated with an easily accessible table.

    Lovely rural location with ample parking. Excellent customer service with friendly, helpful and available staff. Food choice was wide, varied and appealing. The food served was appetisting, colourful and well cooked. There was a query on the final bill but it was dealt with promptly and without fuss. Will definitely return and thoroughly recommend.

    If you enjoy a good roast, The White Horse at Whepstead is the place to be on a Wednesday. Amazing food, great choice plus other meals available.

    Excellent sharing seafood platter for starter - huge portion and very tasty. Main course was duck, again very large portion, tender, flavourful with great roasted carrot. Mixed veg served as well. At last a restaurant that gives excellent choices, excellent food and offers vegetables as part of the dish. Other restaurants, take note. A meal is not just meat and potatoes - usually at ridiculous prices. The White Horse gets everything right, including a 'can-do' attitude. Thank you for a great evening. Our dinner companions loved it and they eat in the best restaurants in London.

    This is one of my favourite places to eat. Lovely decor and beautiful garden. Good garden if you have children as outdoor play things including table tennis table. The pub is spotlessly clean. The staff friendly and efficient. The food is so well presented and cooked. The prices are very reasonable. I really cannot find any thing to fault. Also it’s near Ickworth House National Trust - great to visit.
