   Had the elk tenderloin and wife had the kurbota pork. Both were excellent. Portions on the elk tenderloin dish were small compared to the pork. We split a salad. Also excellent. Service was by the entire team and all were welcoming and efficient. Marked down to 4 stars because I felt the price was high compared to the portion size on the elk plate. I recognize that this is a resort town, but comparing to other restaurants in town.

   We had the best wait staff. Our main waiter was such a pleasure to interact with. He was very good at explaining the menu choices and at offering suggestions. Very, very experienced and gracious. My hubby had the Elk tenderloin medium rare and I had a delicious trout dish. Then carrot cake with freshly brewed coffee for So yummy.

   This restaurant is a welcome change from noisy eateries and has a lovely ambiance. The service, from the hostess to our waiter, was great. Our waiter was friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and efficient. The items we ordered were unique in their ingredients and flavors and were delicious.

   Excellent meal the evening we arrived in Jackson Hole and excellent service. Having never eaten elk, I ordered the smoked elk tenderloins and was really pleased with the dish. My wife’s diver scallops were delicious as well. The chef’s unique take on carrot cake was special…and a winner!

   Totally underwhelming. Server needs a customer service 101 class. We had to go ask for things at the bar-not very cognizant or attentive. He was like a drill sergeant, no personality. Food was less than mediocre, not a lot on the menu. Plenty of better restaurants in JH. Don’t spend your money there.

   We cannot say enough about how totally satisfying this quant little restaurant was. The pork chop- and grouper entries would have been outstanding had they been served on paper plates. But the presentation and accompanying sides took our enjoyment to the next level. The waiters, bartenders and hostess were top of the line friendly and professional, adding yet another dimension to our enjoyable evening. I can describe our experience as unassumingly grandiose.    OUTSTANDING. Every aspect. I travel constantly for work to some of the greatest food cities in the country and this stood out as one of the best meals I’ve had. Truly a gem in this mountain getaway.

    The room is very unassuming, but having been to more rural locations I wasn’t turned off. The service was excellent, the food was phenomenal, and the bill was worth it. I’d love to come back again next time I find myself in Jackson!

    The service was a little slow at first, but picked up as we ate. The servers were very personable. We shared the smoked trout dip and it was delicious. We had the Elk Tenderloin, The Burger, the Ribeye special and the Pork Chop. Everyone in the party commented on how good the food was, and how the meats were cooked to the degree each was ordered.

    We really enjoyed our Easter dinner here. The Astoria salad with Shumway yogurt was excellent, the jumbo shrimp good and the trout entree wonderful. Our server was extremely professional and waited on us impeccably, we will be back again!

    I had the Elk Tenderloin. It was cooked to perfection. Actually, the whole table had amazing food. From the pork chop to the appetizers, it was all delicious. That saying you get what you pay for is true. Well worth the price.

    Beautiful, creative, and DELICIOUS meals! It was our first time there and we WILL be back. The steak, pork chop, and lamb shank were perfectly cooked and very tender. The sides were very tasty too. Service was extremely friendly and prompt.

    We were craving steak and our expectations were exceeded. My elk tenderloin was just that, flavorful and tender. My 12 year old gobbled up his medium rare ribeye to two thumbs up! A hidden gem of a restaurant. Will go again next time we’re in town. Enjoy.

    Another terrific dinner at Whistling Grizzly. Happy to see Jean Paul, again. He was away for a few months. I do miss the French menu from last year. The current menu is more in tune to tourist tastes, so I guess that was a business decision.

    Still the best restaurant in town in my opinion. Ambiance is nice, waitstaff is solicitous, and all the dishes I have had there have been designed and prepared superbly. Not the usual preparations, but never veering over into “weird taste combos for the sole purpose of being different”. Tasted one of my wife’s elk tenderloins last night, and it was the best I had ever tasted in this town over the last 27 years, which covers a lot of restaurants. As far as value is concerned, it’s perhaps not inexpensive, depending on one’s outlook, but the quality seems unmatched at the price. Well worth it.

    We had an excellent dinner the food was fantastic! The best meal and service we had in Jackson. The service was excellent, very attentive but not intrusive. Our server was extremely knowledgeable of the food preparation, had great recommendations and fun to interact with. Highly recommend.

    I will never again eat at this "restaurant". We are locals and we like to try to eat at different places, try different things and just really get to know all of "our" local dining places. We have never in over 30 years been treated or spoken to the way we were treated and talked down to like we were at The Whistling Grizzly. To start off- right away- the waiter "Jean Paul" was extremely rude and arrogant. When we asked him anything about the menu or how the food was prepared he answered back very snidely and put us down for not knowing the process of certain types of cooking methods. He did not come to check on us one time. We had to flag him down for drink refills. (Mind you- this is a small room located right off the hotel lobby- which seats maybe 50 people TOPS.) For most of our dinner he was just standing over by a small bar area. I did tip him- because I am a local- a hard working local- and I understand the push of living and surviving in Jackson. Had we been in a different location I honestly would not have tipped him at all. The food overall was not too bad- completely not worth the $300 that we spent, but better than McDonalds. My steak was overcooked around the edges and raw in the very center. (I always order med) My husband ordered the lamb- which was actually cooked to perfection. It was my husband's birthday and I had written in our reservation if they could bring out a dessert with "Happy Birthday" on it- and nothing was even mentioned. And now that I think about it, Jean Paul didn't even bring out the dessert that we ordered. Overall this was a very bad experience- not worth the money that I spent- and I will NEVER go back.
