   The place had closed down when we arrived albeit it had accepted my booking and had also had told me on the morning that there was only one table left.Thanks to The Fox Thorpe Waterville who managed to squeeze the four of us in.Not being funny but they have not told you the situation.Do you wa t a review of The Fox and do you know how much the table sold for?    Absolute furious! Booked this location for my partners Birthday after a recommendation from a friend.....I drive 30 minutes to the location to find it closed! No phone call or other warning. Appalling service.

   Be warned if booking on line. We turned up for an evening meal on Saturday to find the restaurant has closed. Hence low rating which had to be filled in. There is no mention on their website to say they are closed! Do hope a suitable buyer can buy the place and bring it back to life!

   The Wheatsheaf is a lovely pub, and the service is spot on - no problems there. The beer is also well kept, and there's usually at least two decent hand-pulled ales available. However I'm afraid that on this visit the food was distinctly average. We've had better experiences here in the past. The starter was fine, but overall the menu was limited and some items in the roast were not freshly cooked.

   Having been here before and had excellent food we were very disappointed. In particular one of us requested a plain salad with the sea bass. What arrived was the Nicoise salad minus the olives and beans, it included sun dried tomatoes which were inedible. The dressing was awful and as a PLAIN SALAD was requested no choice was given and it was already dressed. The roast beef was very standard, and service was very slow.

   The pub is very pleasant inside and very welcoming. The card machine is still not working so an extra trip to the cash machine was in order. A good choice of food, but unfortunately slightly over cooked. Would be willing to give it another go - everyone else seemed to enjoy their food. Nice staff and service was good.

   I am somewhat reluctant to write this review. Our lunchtime meal was during the week. The food is very good but the customer service is poor. If you are there longer than 2pm don't expect to be served coffee. They switch the machine off at 2pm because they are "closed". Don't book for a late sitting (the latest they do is 1.30pm) Our sitting was at 1pm. By the time we finished starters and mains it was about 2.30pm. It is a great pity as the food is good. I do hope they sort their customer service out for week day lunches. Until then we will eat else where.

   Nice evening, food good but unfortunately our table was right by a hot radiator which made eating uncomfortable for 2 of our party. I did ask if it could be turned down or switched off but sadly this wasn't done.

    Excellent meal as always with a chef willing to tailor make and vary the meals to suit a vegetarian. Outstanding value for good quality food.
