Although it must be incredibly hard to make everything work perfectly in a COVIDly modified environment, the incredible sunset the night we were at the Wharf made up for any minor flaws...what was supposed to have been seared salmon appeared to have been blackened, but the portion so generous and the pasta with spinach cream sauce so delicious, I ate it up. I wish now we would have had a night cap at the bar - the music was our era and gently and sensitively played.
Our server was fabulous. He even sang to my daughter. Loved our food, location and the nicest people!!
Was told this was the best place to see the sunset and get a great meal. Both True!!!! Reservations are best to have but there is alit of seating inside and out. Our waiter was very hospitable and friendly... after we ordered drinks I had said don’t think we left we’re going outside to get some sunset photos and he said “that’s great I’ll wait till I see you come in till I bring out your appetizer so it doesn’t get cold”. My husband and I shared the filet mignon and the crab boil pot. Was perfect...
Oh no! Such nice people working there, but the food was awful.
When I first walked in the door, the live music, although very good, seemed a little loud and I was afraid my mother would be offended by the noise level. However, from where we actually sat to dine the music was fine. The restaurant itself was a little noisy and made it difficult to understand the person across the table at times, but it was a positive, energetic vibe. The food and service was wonderful. I think this restaurant might be more suited to a relatively younger audience, but even my 78 year old mother liked it. I would love to come back to hear the band one night and bring my husband this time.
Fast service, asked for 1/2 dozen oyster casino, received 1 dozen.
We got there early by an hour for our reservation they seated us right away anyways, by the window. Guitar playing was great, food came out swift and hot and tasted great! We had a really nice dinner!
Service was slow although waitress was friendly. Cocktail was watered down. Entree of grouper with fingerling potatoes and steamed vegetables consisted of fatty fish, mostly potatoes to fill out the plate and vegetables, some of which were too raw and difficult to eat. Probably would not go back.
Great food, service, and view! The she crab soup was delicious!
The dinner and service were very good. The grilled grouper was fresh and some of the best I have ever had and I really liked the vegetables served with it that were roasted. Service was good and the location was great since we were staying at the San Souci. The only thing that was not good was the coffee taste old and burnt.
We had a wonderful experience at The Wharf. The food was delicious, the service was awesome and the music was very enjoyable.
Brianna was a great bartender!
Enjoyed dining at The Wharf overall on Dec. 31st, 2020. The service was prompt and great. Food was very good. The only downside was that the live music at the bar was WAY TOO LOUD- consisted of a gentleman with guitar and reverberated throughout the restaurant. The sound made our night out less memorable.
Another excellent meal sitting on the wharf watching boats, birds and the beauty of the marsh. Food was fresh and well prepared, and quickly served. Staff, as usual were friendly and attentive. We’ll be back!
Our experince was most enjoyable. It was a busy night and thanks to our reservation through OpenTable we were seated quickly. Waiter was efficienct and pleasent. Food was very good. A nice view of the Costal Waterway. We would recommend the Wharf to those visiting Jekyll Island.
Excellent food. It was very fresh and well presented. Waitstaff was very gracious. We were seated as requested.
It was our 42nd Anniversary and I had requested a chocolate mousse with happy 42nd written in chocolate syrup
It wasn’t even acknowledged or offered. I wasn’t asking for a freebie and expected to pay for it. Our Server was nice but totally uneducated on wines. I asked what the house Merlot was and she said it’s by Malbec. I said are you sure? Because that’s a wine grape. And asked again, that’s your house Merlot? Yes!!
She left, I told my wife, watch her bring me a glass of Malbec. Yep!!!
It’ll be a long while before I hop over the bridge again, pay $8.00 to enter, and go to a restaurant that IS NOT cheap in pricing their food and wines but can’t take the time to train their wait staff.
Appetizers were amazing. My shrimp taco was ok. My hubby liked his boil.
Last minute Christmas decision to go to St Simons Island. Most restaurants that we tried to get a reservation with were booked on the island for Christmas dinner. We lucked upon The Wharf on Jekyll Island just a short drive over and were so pleasantly pleased with the atmosphere, food quality, kind staff and what a gorgeous view. After dinner we were smack dab in the middle of the self guided light tour on Jekyll that our wait staff let us know about so not only was The Wharf fantastic in many ways but they were the friendliest of all restaurants that we visited while in St Simons.
Outstanding, warm, friendly service. Perfect Christmas experience. My husband had the fried green tomatoes and the kale salad, and I had the shrimp poutine (novel, and delicious!). Both were generous portions that we almost but not quite finished and thoroughly enjoyed. The shrimp was fresh and perfectly fried, and the cheese sauce was amazing. Also, a great value. I had 2 glasses of wine, too, and even with a 40% Christmas tip, we spent under $100. This little place is a joy.
Went to the Wharf for a casual Christmas eve dinner. Really enjoyed both the appetizer (peel and eat shrimp) and my main (grouper). They seem to have nightly live music and the deck is a great place to catch the sunset. This was our second visit and food and service have been consistent.
Our waiter, Marquat (sp?) was wonderful! The food was ok. I had the Buffalo shrimp tacos. They barely had Buffalo flavor or blue cheese flavor, and lots of cabbage. Served with chips and salsa. I was there to meet friends and we sat outside, pleasantly social distanced. Fans were on to combat the gnats! Great atmosphere and service. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food.
The meal was great. I had the Wharf low country boil and my wife has the New York strip. Our waitress was great. This is the first time I booked thru Open Table I have to say it was the best. There were several people waiting in line we walked up and went in to our table. We were very pleased with Open Table.
The food , ambience and service were as usual very good. The view is worth the visit. The only negative are the prices. They just keep going up and up.
Didn’t have the food we wanted.
Good I ordered was disappointing.
Price was high for quality of food.
May not go back!
Our server was prompt and the food came out fast except they forgot our salad - no big deal-the server removed it from the bill. The fried green tomato appetizer was very good.
Good, but not excellent. Very nice ambience. Except for the gumbo, the food was above average. The gumbo was not robust with flavor, in fact had very little flavor. The seafood platter was enjoyed and the fish and chips quite good. The food came to out table way to fast; drinks had just been served but not yet enjoyed. The hostess and wait staff did a great job.
Our server seemed very frazzled and was not very attentive, we ordered a drink which was not served as requested no biggie but the apps we ordered were cold our entree was also served cold we were not asked if we wanted another drink I would have asked for one and asked for our food to be fixed however we did not see our server only a food runner by the time the server did come back to the table we decided to eat our food and get our check, the restaurant was cold also very uncomfortable! Overall very disappointing experience, this is not our first visit here but may be our last for a meal . We do enjoy a drink on the outside deck in the summer.
The food and atmosphere were great. It was a bit rushed, we were asked about dessert twice, once while we’d just gotten our entrees. Service was adequate.
We had a great dinner at The Wharf! We were seated promptly, the food was excellent, and the service was fabulous.
The oysters were perfect. The gumbo and Caesar salad were excellent. For entrees we got the salmon and it was so delicious. I took part of mine to go and ate in the next day for lunch and it was just as good then too!
Our waitress was awesome, she had great recommendations and made sure everything came out when it was supposed to.
The place is lively with a nice vibe and has live music on weekends. Totally recommend to anyone visiting Jekyll Island. We look forward to coming back!
Amazing server! Sat outside in amazing weather and enjoyed a wonderful band. We will be back!
Excellent experience. Fried green tomatoes a little greasy.
Went for dinner here. I had their fish and chips and my husband had shrimp tacos. Both were excellent and since it was our 3rd anniversary, we were given complementary dessert which was excellent as well. Was seated outside with the view of the river and the ambience was great. It was quiet and the service was outstanding. They were very attentive. Overall, had a great dinner experience and would like to visit again to taste other choices there.
Ri waited on us- and did an excellent job! We were chilled from the unseasonally cooler weather and the hot totties were just what the Dr. ordered. Fantastic food and extraordinary service!
The food was just OK. I had the seafood platter which included the fried cod oyster and a few shrimp french fries everything was fried and could not be substitute to be cooked any other way.
We love this place. Everyone is so accommodating. Food is fantastic!
We enjoyed a wonderful lunch on Friday after Thanksgiving - Georgia Peach cocktails and Mimosas; Fried Pickles for an appetizer; Fish & Chips and Buffalo Shrimp Tacos for entrees. Angela provided friendly, professional and timely service in a lovely setting with beautiful views.
The food and service were excellent although it was a bit pricey. The quality of the food was excellent and staff super friendly.
So it was Thanksgiving and we went for our first experience, we ordered the Thanksgiving meals, so not off the normal menu, and whilst my wife's was excellent, mine was luke warm in places.
The rest of the experience was excellent, server was awesome, all except my.main was excellent and the room/ building was above my expectations. We will revisit as it was so close to a 5 star experience, but thats what we expected, especially at the prices.
