The Waterfront Restaurant and Cafe
"Breathtaking Bay Bridge views from every table, both indoors and from the "tented patio", makes this Embarcadero seafooder a wonderful place to relax and absorb the beautiful setting, while the Californian fare is deemed well executed."
11:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Dinner: Monday - Saturday: 4:00PM to 9:30PM
Sunday: 1130AM to 9:00PM
10 minutes walking distance from Bart.
Upon arrival to restaurant we were not greeted promptly. Our group waited patiently to be addressed by the hostess. She did not look up or acknowledge us. Two women walked in and were immediately addressed. We asked for a table near the window we were informed that we should arrive earlier although I pointed out open window seating. Needless to say we spoke with the manager who promptly accommodated our needs. Serve staff sub par.
The service was very poor. It took several requests to get our waiter to bring anything. The two individuals waiting the tables dropped utensils on the food a couple times. The drinks took about 25/30 minutes to get to us, they were only at about 20% capacity at lunchtime.
The food was average and the service was horrible.
We were delighted to eat well prepared and delicious seafood as well as taste a nice wine. We enjoyed lunch by the water with every need attended. The food and location are worth the visit.
What an awesome night! The staff were amazing, the food so delicious, and the view was just what we’d hoped for. Thanks to everyone there who made our anniversary dinner so excellent!
My girlfriend and I had just had our Dinner/Cruise canceled and decided we'd have a great evening anyway and came across this "gem." What a delight and what a VIEW! We thoroughly enjoyed the evening, the drinks and the view overlooking the water and the Bay Bridge! It made the cancellation into a delightful evening after all!
I had asked for a quiet area and window table, it has been the best experience, ambience and view I could have imagined for the meeting. Thanks to the restaurant - genuinely impressive.
Excellent food. Professional waitstaff. Delicious seafood and dessert and appetizers. Good wines.
The waiter was nice, but the service took way too long. One hour and no entrees. Other than asparagus, the food was very bland. We had a great seafood experience the night before which made it that much more obvious that this restaurant was lacking.
Surprisingly good for an area filled with tourist restaurants.
I was surprised the restaurant required a printed copy of the eGift card in order to redeem and their register can’t scan a online copy. Their register require an upgrade.
Great food and wonder view.
Some rude people were so loud, but food and the view was totally great. If you want nice dinner with quite place, please visit there on weekdays.
Good food, but drinks are expensive and the entres a bit so. But, maybe not for SF...
I have been going to The Waterfront for years and will continue to go. I love it in the daytime and at night. One of the benefits is the valet parking which makes it convenient especially if you have someone who is handicapped. The food and service never is anything but superb. I am grateful for the selection of oysters.
Keep up the good work.
We ordered several dishes and split amongst three of us. The three entrees and the 3 appetizers were all excellent. The drinks were also good. No room for dessert.
I like this place! I celebrate my bday here! Friendly and have great view on the water and is very relaxing just to set outside with a glass of wine😊..like it here a lot!
Excellent on all points of view ! Bravo..................................,,,,,,,
The service and food at the Waterfront Restaurant are outstanding! Oh, and the view is tremendous, especially at night when the Bay Bridge looks like it is sparkling. For dinner I enjoyed the Mixed Grill. From my table I was able to watch the chef cook and plate my meal. What a treat! The Main Dining Room on the second floor is great for groups. Kelsey was our server and she is phenomenal. I highly recommend the Waterfront Restaurant!
We arrived early and told the hostess that we were going to the bar for a cocktail before dinner. We were greeted by Al at the bar. Great service and conversation about the history of the waterfront location. He made our drinks to perfection and was very attentive. My wife asked what was his specialty drink and he quickly whipped up his basil vodka martini for us to sample and it was delicious. While we were having dinner. Al visited us at our table to inquire how we were doing. We also had waiters and managers drop by our table to ask if there was anything we needed. The seafood was so fresh that my wife and I agreed that it was the best we had eaten. Overall, the Waterfront will be recommended to our friends and family.
It is always a great experience going to Waterfront. The service is outstanding, cordial, friendly. The food is good and flavorful- a bit expensive, but I guess you pay for the view!!!
I had a calamari appetizer that was $15 but very small portion. You could barely share it with two people. The main courses were as good as usual but again small portions based on the $38 halibut special...at least give more mashed potato’s. The atmosphere and good service always keeps me coming back but I really would like to see an overall improvement in the food value.
Early Afternoon lunch on a Saturday was perfect for low traffic time.
Very good service and very apologetic when lobster tail mishy
Scheduled a last minute early dinner and there were plenty of openings on a Monday. They were very welcoming and the manager told them to seat us on a nice table with a view upstairs. The view is excellent and noise was low though admittedly at that time there were not many people. The food was good overall with a lovely presentation. We loved the dessert sampler - the bread pudding and creme brulee were our favorites. The pasta should have been cooked a bit less though. Prices are a bit on the higher end but you pay for the view. The negative part of the experience was that I forgot my phone and went back 15 mins later as the phone was showing it was there. Whoever had found it had not turned it in and in fact had put the phone on a do not disturb mode. It took two trips and insisting the phone was there and I got my phone back. I hope management talks to staff to ensure this does not happen again as it is unacceptable especially for his kind of restaurant.
Great view, lovely lunch
Loved the place!!! Please try the crab cakes. Its just out of the world. try the reserved sweet wine if you are into sweet wine. get a table with the view. The service was great as well.
The restaurant has a wonderful view, the food was ok, and the staff can stand to be a little more personable with their customers. The view was amazing if you are looking for water view or outside seating (they have accommodations for both). However for the pricey food that only tasted ok (It wasn't bad but defiantly did not wow our taste buds) and the service acting as if they have somewhere better to be, I would recommend else where.
We took our granddaughter to the theatre. We went to dinner at 5pm so we had plenty of time. Our waiter was wonderful. The food was good, great view and great service!
Beautiful scenery of the bay. We got there 40 mins early and they sat us to have a perfect view of the waterfront. The food was excellent and it was a nice place to chill out with friends. I would recommend this place to anyone traveling to San Francisco.
Our experience was amazing! We loved our waitress Kelsey! We were visiting from Texas but any friends coming to town we will defiantly recommend The Waterfront Restaurant!
Great Place! View of the Bay bridge along with the inside atmosphere are a must visit.
We were there for my wife’s birthday and both the food and service was outstanding
Chris our waiter was brilliant
If you like gritty scallops, this is the place for you. If not, stay away. A total “meh” dining experience.
Received attentive Service during the Happy Hours while we sat outside with a great view. The glass surrounds keep the wind from your table while not interfering with the view of the Bay Bridge. Light Bites offered were just enough to tide us over along with a nice cocktail menu.
Great location and view we were very lucky to get a great table
Chris was attentive and very polite always ensuring all went well
The food was amazing ! Could not find a issue at all
Fresh and delicious
Desert was the perfect topper we have the creme brûlée
Thank you for making our anniversary a wonderful night
We went for my birthday dinner. Once we sat down, a waiter came to tell us that they were out of crab & asparagus. It was 6:00 dinner reservations so I was surprised so early they were out of items. The service was very slow. Ordered an appetizer that showed up after our salads/soups. I had to ask where the appetizer was several times before it came. My husband got up and went and told then that it was my birthday, of which they never acknowledged. He and my daughter were disappointed of the service we received.
This restaurant had always been on my list to eat at and after being there, it quickly will be off my list. The food itself was good but overall I won't be back.
Wonderful location and fantastic view of the bay and bridges! The service was excellent but the food was not quite as good as was expected for the price. I
Our waiter was terrible and not interested in us. Portions were but good.
Celebrated our 10 year anniversary here. Beautiful place and delicious food
This was our 40th wedding anniversary and the Waterfront is our favorite place to eat in the city. We take the ferry over from Larkspur a couple times a month and typically walk to the Waterfront. A+
