This is a SF Waterfront oldie but goodie. The staff couldn't have been more attentive and the Bay & Bridge views are phenomenal. The wine list by the glass left a lot to be desired and the menu is pretty traditional. Nothing inventive or a WOW to be seen. Quality and taste were pretty good, except for the Brussel Sprouts, which were flavorless. An older crowd for the most part. If you are seeking a GREAT view with decent food and great service... I'd definitely go.
Ambiance and waterfront backdrop is must see and feel. The food was great, more than expected and the price is worth visiting.
I love to bring out of town relatives here. The water view at night is so beautiful. It's also quiet enough to have small group conversations. The seafood is fresh and local. Creatively plated but not so over the top you cant identify your food. It's expensive but worth it and really just a relaxing setting with enough room between the tables that you feel you are only dining with your guests. Loved it. It's a great place to come if you really want to have time together and a great meal
Amazing on all levels. Server Eric was fantastic, food and drinks were outstanding. The waterfront view is worth the trip. We were able to enjoy a firework display at Pier 39 which added to our date night experience on our last night of our Napa Valley and San Francisco vacation. Thank you
Special birthday dinner w/family visiting from East Coast...window seating, with unobstructed view of Bay Bridge, had the desired effect and was perfect when the bridge light-show came on. We ordered lots of different starter plates to leisurely have with our wine and found the table too small and cramped for 4, surprising for such an upscale restaurant. Lobster mac a great starter to share; clams were in a nice wine sauce. Of the mains...short ribs really wonderful, but the 4 large scallops were quite disappointingly 'mushy' and consequently overpriced at $32.00; the mixed grill was average as was the chicken dish. Our waiter, from Hungary, was knowledgeable, attentive and helpful.
We love the ambiance and the view and the food is wonderful!! Never disappointed at the Waterfront! Also, pretty quiet which we appreciate - service is very attentive - just love the whole presentation of the restaurant.
My best meal in San Francisco. My server made me feel welcome. The Cioppino was so delicious and warmed me up on a cool night. I highly recommend!
The food was nicely prepared and a good portion size (not too little or too much). The view of the bay and bridge was great. The place is large and probably the indoors is comfortable. However, we were cold by the windows and the restaurant did not offer to change our table. Also, we told the restaurant it was a birthday occasion but we were brought a happy anniversary plate. It was a minor mistake but there was not enough attention to details. The waiters were nice but seemed rushed.
Excellent service and great food combined with fabulous view makes for perfect evening out!
Beautiful view of bay bridge at night
Food was amazing. The only comment is the chairs that are in the covered patio are so uncomfortable. For the high end restaurant better chairs than patio ones would be a worthwhile investment
Group of 4 pp ate dinner after a matinee theatre performance, starting just before 6pm in late October. Great location under the BAY BRIDGE, starting before sunset. We were on outdoor, glass-enclosed patio. Could see the former Officers Club at Treasure Island, as well as sailboats, before sunset. After sunset, the light art on the Bridge was lit, and could see the lights in the East Bay hills across the Bay. Good dinner. Seafood choices were excellent, and well prepared. Waiters and staff were attentive but not fussy. Wine list has good CA wines at typical restaurant prices, by the glass or bottle. Bar was busy, but not noisy. Guests looked like a mix of tourists and locals.
I have been to the Waterfront several times over the years so decided to bring business colleagues to dinner last Thursday night. The service was absolutely awful! We sat for at least 10 minutes before the Waiter attended to us. Then had to ask 3 times for water and bread. Appetizers and dinner took unusually long to arrive. Food was good but very hesitant to return. Disappointing for a a $550 meal.!
Overall we had a pretty poor experience. The food quality was simply under par and when we mentioned the poor quality of the oysters to the waiter, he did nothing about it. The meat was OK but nothing to write home about. It felt like they had enough business with a few large parties (groups) and paid little attention to smaller tables. Will avoid in the future.
Good views and good food. With parking across the street it is easy to get to.
Stunning view on the bay bridge. Service can be better. It took too long to get the drink while there was not too many customers.
Organisation Must improve. With confirmed reservation waiting time was close to 30 min.
We loved the food here. All of our fish and seafood meals were excellent. Our waiter Juan was a pleasure and the view of the water and the bridge were fun too. We had a great time!
This has been a go-to spot when visiting San Francisco but this might have been our last visit.
It was incredibly noisy with multiple LARGE parties which took over the restaurant. And despite having several dishes of Dungeness crab listed on the menu, they did not have any crab which was the main reason we chose to go there (we were told it was not in season but had it at another restaurant only 2 days prior).
The raw oysters were not shucked properly as we found multiple pieces of shell. Our entrees were good but disappointing in the setting of expecting fresh crab.
We were approached by multiple staff indicating that they were sorry we were unable to have any crab, but our bill was not modified in any way - hey, a free glass of wine would have been a gesture...
We were there celebrating an anniversary, however the plate with the dessert said "happy birthday"! Tacky!
Multiple opportunities to salvage a bad experience were missed. With the abundance of excellent restaurants in San Francisco, we won't worry about not returning to this one.
Such an amazing experience for my birthday. The restaurant went above and beyond and the view was spectacular. The food was great. Perfect night.
The food was wonderful, sat on the patio part - should have had a bit more heat.
Excellent. The first time I have ever had a fresh anchovy. The anchovy had no bones and was white and color and was not fishy at all.
this was our second time to this restaurant in two years and we would definitely go back.
The food was delicious, the service prompt and accommodating and the view of the Bay Bridge and Berkeley was beautiful! What's not to like?
Had a great experience here once again. The food was amazing from the appetizer to meal and a very nice selection of wine.
For locals who had never eaten here before this was Avery welcome surprise. Excellent all around!
Great views and beautifully crafted cuisine
The mixed seafood grill featured lobster prawns scallops and salmon
The deserts are lovely
Our experience was good. We got to the restaurant a little early and got a great corner table overflooking the Bay. I had the scallops and they were fabulous as usual. A little pricy at $32 for four but they were large. Of course the dishes are ala carte so you have to add veggies and a startch if you want to complete the meal. We shared the calamari fritti with the table. It was tender and tasty but very short on the rock shrimp and fennel. We remembered more of both the last time.
The service was attentive and the host came by a couple of times to make sure things were good.
2 days we were there consecutively. Lunch and both days loved the clam chowder and the petrale sole .very very good
Everything was pretty average except for the portion sizes which were underwhelming and the view and prices which were overwhelming (for what we received).
Everything was perfect. The service, the food and the atmosphere.
Came here to celebrate my 46th birthday. Haven’t been here since the late 90’s. The change was beautiful. The staff and waiters were all very attentive. There was the one lady at the reception desk who could use a little retraining in customer service . The way she talked to the staff and myself was very unprofessional. But that won’t stop me from coming back . The good was delicious and our waiter was very attentive. I enjoyed my birthday dinner
Outstanding service and amazingly delicious food! Came here to celebrate my date’s early birthday and everything was perfect.
The overall ambience - plus the attentive staff / the views / and the delicious food makes The Waterfront my first choice.....not only for special occasions, but anytime (lunch or dinner)!
Food was great. View was amazing. The staff had an attitude that was definitely not welcoming and professional. They crossed a line few times between polite conversations with the guest and passing judgement on eating or ordering habits. It felt like their misbehavior was originating from lack of training. It was surprisingly similar amongst the staff we’ve interacted with, probably due to an underlying culture and hiring problem.
Had a reservation for 7:45, wasn’t seated until 8:45.
Unfortunately the meal took more than 30 minutes to arrive, 2 salads and a pasta dish with no explanation. The price was quite high for what we got. Pretty views right at the waters edge. Would like to go back again as it's near my office but probably won't.
Food and service were very good. Waiter was friendly and responsive. Incredible Bay views. The only negative is the wine list. Markups on the wine are well outside the recommended range of 2-3 times wholesale. In one case, the markup was 6.5 times retail. Recommend you bring your own bottle.
Beautiful location, gorgeous view of the water and the Bay Bridge! Beautiful at night with the amazing lights!!
