Always the perfect spot for a ladies lunch!
Good vibe to the place. Good choice of food and healthy options.
We arrived early and they were able to work us in. Fantastic burgers. Can’t wait Togo back and try more from the menu.
Being plant based eaters, we ordered the kale grains bowl. It was very tasty but not a hearty meal and we were shocked to have to pay extra for a little bread. With coffee and a dessert (manager said he “sometimes” gives a dessert on the house for a birthday, but that did not happen) , the bill came to about $85, for a few kale leaves with grains, sprinkled on top, bread, coffee and one dessert. Our waiter was not professional in his role. The manager later said he was part of the kitchen staff.
The food is okay but the service was bad even after numerous requests.
We enjoyed our dinner very much and the service was great.
My mom was so pampered!!!
Meatloaf was outstanding.
Love this place....not as fancy or as stuffy as the Village Pub.
Do not like the current menu!
Ambiance is great, our waiter and his assistant, his sister, were terrific. Gracious, good humored, timely. Food is great. Thank you.
Village Bakery & Cafe consistently delivers a great experience, time after time. From starters to the main course, the food is spectacular and the wine list is well thought out. They know what they do, they stick to it and they do it incredibly well. Also, a personal plug for our waiter, Diego. He was perfect. Didn't hover, didn't disappear and was engaged throughout the night. Love the VBC and it will continue to be a staple in our dining excursions.
Always delicious food. Great ambience.
We all enjoyed the food and service and ambiance.
We had a wonderful dinner , food and service was excellent
It was very noisy as lots of people but it was a very upbeat atmosphere
I love this restaurant 👍
It was lively. Service was wonderful and food amazing.
We have been to the restaurant several times in the past. We have enjoyed it.
This time was a little different. First of all, we were early. That didn’t seem be be a problem in seating, but Open Table sent us a ‘Why didn’t you honor your reservation’ email. Next, our brunch menus looked like they were five years old - crumpled and marked on. I asked the waiter for chicken wings. He said he’d check to see if they were available. He never returned. The waiter’s availability remained an issue throughout our meal. The food was ordinary (ordinary potato quiche, ordinary egg sandwich, good burger).
All in all, it was not a rewarding experience. We had thought of a family Easter brunch at your restaurant. We’re reconsidering.
Amazing food and great service every time!
Good for brunch. Dinner is terrible. Menu on line does not nearly match the menu at the restaurant.
Actual menu selections are limited and poorly executed.
Our server was delightful and was very happy to take care of not charging us for what we had to send back.
Do not order the Chicken Paillard. Burger is just ok. Meatloaf is mostly bread. Salmon is always overcooked even if you request rare.
I love coming to the VB, but unfortunately my last meal was really disappointing in terms of the food itself. My entree was sad-looking and seemed like it had been cooked an hour earlier, sat around for a while, then reheated. The vegetables were black and shriveled, the mushrooms were leathery -- perhaps everything was under the broiler too long. My friend's salad was soggy, too. Normally the food here is excellent, so I'm hoping it was an atypical experience.
Brunch on A Sunday. Great food and service. We had to wait about 15min even though we had a reservation.
Always on our list
The cheese on the kids pizza tasted processed. Thin crispy fries were not hot and it seemed like my husband's meatloaf had a lot of bread in it.
Excellent food. Forgot we needed a table and chair access for one of our guests. Easily remedied. Restaurant was full which added to the noise level. Conversations were not hard to manage. Ambience was wonderful. Sophisticated dining space without veing stuffy. Service was above what we expected. Will return!
Excellent overall experience for 6 of us.
We have been to the Village Bakery and Cafe many times, and I always want to love it, but frankly it is just missing the mark. The atmosphere is what keeps us coming back, it is beautiful, warm and inviting, however the food and service is just OK. We were seated and immediately offered drinks which took forever to come, and we had to ask for water three times. I sent my drink back because it was flat and watered down, the replacement took a very long time to arrive. I ordered the meatloaf which was average and came with a salad which was nothing more that lettuce. The Chicken Paillard was equally uninspiring and not worth the price charged. Service throughout the meal was choppy and uneven. For a restaurant with an esteemed and experienced group of owners I would expect more. I truly hope they can raise the bar.
Hate to be writing this review because I love the food here and the waiter was great but they seated us an hour after our reservation time.
Excellent service and delicious food!
Excellent all around. The food seems to have gone up a notch since our last visit; all 4 of us thought our meals were delicious. Service was professional and the room is very attractive and comfortable.
The service was slow but they couldn’t wait to take away our food. The place was so noisy that we had to yell across a small table at each other to hear one another. The food was cold upon arrival but the presentation was good. I won’t be returning anytime soon.
Every item is delicious. My wife and I have eaten there a half-dozen times. But we brought new people, who are picky eaters, with us, and they loved every item as well. Plus, they got a free loaf of bread on our way out. Great place.
Beautiful spot and great service. Great for a casual/slightly upscale dinner out. Food was ok. Burger was over salted. Fried chicken was the highlight dish and fries were excellent. Lasagne was average and a small piece.
I just enjoy the Restauarant.
I feel very comfortable there.
This is the second terrible /too expensive for the quality meal I have had there in as many years....I cringed when one of our party recommended going but thought it couldn't be that bad twice...it was.....The chicken paillard was bone dry and like cardboard...my butternut squash soup was tasteless save the pepper and dollop of sage butter in the center.....I will not be coming back
