Stayed at Chaminade and ate at the View 3 times. Every meal was missing 1 or more items. Had to request water refills, salt and pepper etc. many times.
Horrible service! Why take reservation at 8:30 if you close the kitchen at 9. Kids food arrived 15 minutes after adults dinner. 2 tacos and colds chips for 20 dollers. My server never offered dessert everything was rushed. I should of doordashed it. Sangria was awful??? 258 dollers later we left hungry and not be able to order anthing after 9 pm from the kitchen. We saw our server twice and still they had service added to the bill. I like to say we actually had a wonderful lunch a day before. I believe her name was Pam
Excellent server. Thank you Pam for treating us with kindness and respect.
Beautiful setting. Music was pleasant, not too loud. Food choices were acceptable.
Staff is young and new to the service industry and need time to grow.
Only two entrees? Really??? And you were out of one. One Entree? What? And it
was meat. No choices for vegetarians!! Poor service. Never go to The View on
a Sunday night.
The view was amazing food was very good would love to see more on the menu. our waitress Estella was the BEST!
Great Food and Ambiance was amazing. Live music was a plus that night!
limited menu, no bread offered with lasagne until we asked more than once...waitress was very helpful...will go back
Excellent service and high quality food, amazing view
Given the rating of 4 stars previously provided by guests, we were surprised by our experience.
The menu was not the same menu as noted on the website as it was very limited. The food was equivalent of the food type and flavor found in a cafeteria. I ordered the burger which had a patty that was dry and overcooked.
We were disappointed and the cost was that of a high end restaurant.
The food was not very good. My husband ordered the Benedict and the English muffin had no flavor and seemed to be freezer burnt. The fried potatoes that came with it also had no flavor and just a mushy texture. We saw another guest abandon their dish as well.
We had a wonderful time at Hawaiian night, George played the entire night straight through with entertaining stories and great music it was a special treat for hula dancing that was added to a few songs.
The view is just beautiful even on an evening with fog and Peach our server is just that a total peach ...she was so welcoming and kind and provided great service.
We will be back again!
The view is great. And the live music was fun.
The food is overpriced garbage. I wish that beautiful places like this matched the quality of atmosphere with quality food.
We lived in Santa Cruz for 35 years. We frequented the main dining room at Chaminade and The VIEW many times. First of all, the server was outstanding and took very good care of us. I ordered a club sandwich which would have been much better if real turkey had been used rather than deli type and the bread was poorly toasted and limp.
I am not a picky eater, but it is a very very skeletal menu with few choices. It would appear with that fantastic view, you could offer a better variety. Sorely disappointed.
Their menu had so few choices. Nothing like what was online.
Nice views - dog friendly - good service - average food quality.
I was very dissapointed. We have been there before and it was excellent. I made reservations with the understanding that it was the Sunday champagne brunch buffet. The website states that they still have it. There was no buffet, just a limited menu and fairly high priced for what we recieved. It took 50 minutes from the time we ordered until we got our food and the waffles were cold. It is a beautiful place, I just sorry I probably won't go back.
Service was horrible.
All was great, but the service was S-L-O-W even though there were not that many tables being occupied.
Alcoholic drinks from bar were totally lacking flavor, my kids ordered Arnold Palmer tea that tasted like pure water and food overall was just meh. Their bar food seems to be the only thing the kitchen has gotten right.
Service was slow and disorganized. The view is amazing, but overall I would only eat there again if staying at the hotel and only if I was starving.
Great view, good service. Food is good, not stellar.
Food and ambiance was excellent just the waiting time was a little too much
The food was delicious. I think the timeliness and service could be improved.
I ordered 3 lemon drop cocktails and the 1st 2 were about 2 two thirds full and nowhere near the top of the glass. On the 3rd I mentioned that they were not full so our lovely waitress told the bartender. The 3rd appeared to be full but then I noticed it was just in a smaller glass.
Very nice. Moderate service.
Very peaceful and very clean. Food was very delicious and service was outstanding. Recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful safe dinner.
It took 2.5 hours to get our dinner food. Understand that many places are limited on staff but that was just ridiculous
We arrived 10 minutes early and were seated outside as requested but at a bar style table rather than a standard table. The area next to us had not been cleared of dishes and the outside tables were full. Our waiter took our order within a few minutes but after 20 minutes, neither our drinks nor appetizers had arrived even though we noted that another table that was seated around the same time as us had been served. Finally at around the 30 minute mark, the waiter came and poured our wine and explained that the kitchen was overwhelmed. At around the 45 minute mark, the manager came by two other tables to apologize for the delay. She did not come to us though. At the hour mark, my husband went to find the manager himself. She said that the kitchen had to be closed because they couldn't keep up but our food should be coming out soon. She handed us some chips and said she'd comp our wine. We did finally get our appetizer about 5 minutes later but never did get our entrees. When we told her we were leaving she tried to get us to stay by telling us that we'd have to wait somewhere else if we left. Really? That's all you've got? We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights and never had a meal at the restaurant. In fact, I cancelled our reservation for the next night right there at the table.
MANAGEMENT MUST BE CLUELESS.
GREAT view. I would go back for that. But I'd just order a glass of wine and skip the food.
BUT it's a typical hotel restaurant. Lack luster food with very little taste and very limited menu and service that ranged from ok to bad.
Server was nice but didn't anticipate any of my needs.
Credit card service was down so they had me and other customers waiting over 30 mins and then finally waived our bill. Which was great. But honestly, if the manager would have come by and said what was going on and can I comp you a dessert or a glass of wine that would have been acceptable and I would have been more accepting of waiting.
Sadly this was a terrible Easter meal! I booked this through open table and it wasn’t clear that we were signing up for a buffet that ended at 3 (our reservation was 2:30). We were not informed on arrival that there was a limited time to eat.
The wait staff was clearly under resourced and did not give us direction or take our drink orders for more than 20 minutes. As no direction was given we took it upon ourselves to go to the buffet. In retrospect not sure why we bothered! The food was scarce, prepackaged salad was tasteless, prawns slimy, eggs Benedict so hard that our knives could not cut the English muffin and the prime rib was already all gone. For dessert, there was a very limited selection that included ice cream and dry cake. We got to hear about how the wait staff was anxious to close down for the day. Not exactly the vibe we were looking for and frankly there should not have been reservations after 2 if the intent was to close by 3. Or we could have been offered a regular menu and bar seating which would have been great.
Finally insult to injury we had to wait for a bill that was nearly $500 for the 5 of us- before tip!! I never mind paying for a great meal but this was barely edible.
I won’t be going back to Chaminade and certainly cannot in good conscience recommend to friends, family or work events.
Very expensive for mediocre food. Lovely view.
Beautiful view, food was terrific! We ran 15 minutes late and were still seated even though a few minutes left for brunch service.
My only less positive comment, had to wait a little longer than usual for our drinks. For a moment thought we weren't going to get our drinks till our food was served.
Staff very friendly and professional.
Nice ambience, simple menu, but the door was great! The view was just as great
Besides taking very long to get the food everything was great.
Beautiful setting and great food!
Beautiful night, great service and delicious food!
The view is beautiful and the only good part about our night. Our drinks took 50 min to arrive and the food took a little over an hour. They had clearly overbooked the place with not enough staff to attend to everyone. I should note, we went for breakfast the next morning (we were staying at the resort) and had a much better experience, but dinner is a bad time to go.
Nice outdoor views, accommodating staff, appealing updated interior.
Kitchen was a bit slow getting dinner out. Wine prices are high.
