The Union Bank—affectionately known as "The UB" to locals—is a unique dining destination in the heart of Orange. With its rich heritage charm, it offers a variety of spaces to explore and enjoy.

At the Schoolhouse Restaurant, our flagship dining space, we take all bookings. If you prefer a more relaxed vibe, our stunning courtyard connects all areas and offers the perfect casual setting. While we don’t take bookings for the courtyard, you’re welcome to request it in your booking notes, and if the weather cooperates, we’ll be happy to seat you outside!

For group dining, The UB offers several private spaces, ideal for gatherings of 8 to 40 people. Whether you're hosting a business meeting or celebrating a special occasion, we have the perfect setting for you.

The iconic and heritage listed Union Bank building is spoilt for private event and dining spaces. Whether you're after an intimate private dining room, or the whole Schoolhouse restaurant, we have plenty of options. Spaces include: The Lobby is a small and intimate private dining room for up to 8 guests. The Bank Room is a large private dining room for up to 18 guests. Another amazing meal at the UB. Food was outstanding as always and lovely service from the team. The venue also looks stunning at this time of the year with the autumn leaves and beautiful lighting they use.

Wonderful restaurant in the food and wine capital of Western Blue Mountains. Lovely ambience, attentive service and wonderful food served to share. Beautiful flavours and high quality ingredients. Not much choice on the dessert menu which was surprising, however after a lovely main meal no sweets were needed.

Based on friends recommendations we were really looking forward to eating at Union Bank. It may have been the night we picked but it was such a disappointment. We waited 10 minutes in an outside line to be seated and then 20 minutes before anyone came to offer us water, a drink or take our order and only because we called the waitstaff to the table. I was surprised when our pate and turine arrived without bread or crackers as that was an extra $9 side order!!! I thought bread was standard with pâté. The final insult to our evening was when the bill arrived and the wine was overcharged by $20. When we pointed it out the waitress amended the bill with absolutely no apology for the mistake. We did however meet another two couples of really nice customers who we we bonded with because of our common experiences with the poor service. Needless to say it was not a great night and we will neither be returning nor recommending to others. Such a shame .

Overall the food was great, we had the octopus dish however and it was the worst - tough and over sauced! Highly recommend the pate but make sure you order bread as it doesn’t come with the dish - why I don’t know! Very noisy and we were seated right near the door, which was being opened regularly causing it to be very cool and uncomfortable. When we asked to move we were told they were fully booked and not able to accommodate. So hot tip if you book make sure you ask for a table near the window or away from the door. Wine selection was pretty good and not bad value for money. We were charged for our octopus even though we advised the waitress at the time of plate collection of our disappointment with the dish, however when I advised at time of paying bill that we were not going to pay for this dish she humbly obliged. Not sure I would dine here again, I think there is plenty of other places in Orange worth visiting.

Great dining experience. The food was delicious and there was a good selection of wines. The service was attentive. We would definitely return.

lovely food, nice garden setting and music (quiet, taped). i was impressed how well the staff coped with a huge number of people over easter. quality of food and service remained high.

Always a pleasant experience. Good food, great wine list. Lovely spot to dine outside when the weather is great. A must-visit when in Orange.
