The Trident
Our heated outdoor decks provide a sensational dining experience with spectacular San Francisco bay views. Our outdoor deck is also dog friendly.
Inside is an incredible recipe of art and architecture, complemented with a resemblance of an old yacht. The ceiling mural was original to the Trident and painted by Dave Richards, creator of Janis Joplin’s infamous 1965 Porsche Cabriolet. On the outside deck, discover one of the most stunning restaurant waterfront views on the west coast, which boasts the skyline of San Francisco, Angel Island and Alcatraz. Great spot right on the water, food was great. Bacon Bloody Mary so good!
The trident seafood mix is the best seafood mix I had in quite a while. Definitely will recommend to try the seafood mix here and will be back here soon!
The service needs to be addressed. We had a horrible experience.
Always a hit. Best view in Sausalito. Thank you for having heated tables and friendly service. :)
Outstanding
This is one of our favorite restaurants in Marin. The view is inspiring, and it's fun to watch all the action on the water. The food excellent, as is the service. Really friendly service and managers. And it's got a fantastic history on top of that.
Realizing the opening of out door dining in restaurants due to Covid, and perhaps smaller staff, our experience was not what we expected. Service was very slow. We sat down at our promised reservation time at 6::15. We ordered cocktails with appetizers which came promptly. Our dinner arrived shortly after delivered by waitstaff. Our server never checked on us so we’re were unable to order wine with our dinner. After we were done, no one cleared our plates as we sat at our table for 65 minutes with zero communication with anyone. Thank goodness the view was spectacular. We finally asked a worker for our server. Our server cleared our plates and asked if we wanted anything else. We wanted dessert and classic Irish Coffees. The coffees arrived, cold! We left at 8:20, very long dinner, we complaining about nothing. Covid has really put us all in a slump however we were truly looking forward to celebrating the reopening of restaurants with excitement. Unfortunately, this didn’t happen. Trident is one of our favorite restaurants and we will be back. Hopefully staffing issues will improve for our next visit. Best always, as we all embrace the reopening out our restaurants. Thank you
View was beautiful. Food was very average. My Caesar with chicken had very little flavor.
The overall experience was ok, food not too good. Music was Reggae, not good dining music for the type of restaurant. Food was overall ok. Ambience was good, view was great.
The server could not explain the entrees at all. I asked if I could switch the fingerlings for mashed potatoes in the salmon entree. she never checked with the chef but instead said she would just order aside of mashed potatoes for $5 extra. What? We also asked in the crab cakes was “lump crab cake or heavily breaded? She replied “yes”. It became exhausting. There was an obvious language barrier so my husband went to speak with the manager to get an understanding on how the salmon entree was prepared.
When the food arrived, the salmon was warm and the mix that it sat atop was hot. Within 30 minutes of leaving the restaurant, I was in the bathroom releasing everything I had just consumed. I’m not a tourist, I just wanted to try something different. I won’t be back...
The Trident was a great place considering the limited options in Sausalito. The food was very underwhelming for the price point but the desserts were great!
The ambience here is lovely. We sat outdoors with a view of the city. The hostess was extremely helpful and nice. Our waiter, however, was awful. He had an attitude, made us wait for every part of our meal, forgot to bring drinks and other odd requests - just basically made the meal less pleasant than it could have been.
Food was delicious and fantastic views of San Francisco.
Waitress got our drinks wrong twice & then we were charged for the drinks we did not consume that were incorrect !! She brought my husband a Chicken sandwich instead of the Salmon he ordered even after asking how he wanted it prepared
We go the trident quite often & usually are please but this time was a disappointment
PERFECT views. Slow service, good food.
Great place! Good food , spectacular view! Location in sausalito is prime for strolling :)
Had a wonderful time. It was perfect except for the bowls they had the Crab Louis in. The angle of the bowls are awkward. Both my companion and I almost knocked them over. The historic building and views make this a must for anyone visiting or living in the Bay Area. Please get some different bowls!
It was good but I would have appreciated if the outdoor heaters were turned up.
Sausalito itself is absolutely beautiful, but restaurants on the water are amazing, the view is spectacular!
Great service and really good food and the view is to die for.
Beautiful view. Really good service. Good food. Truly a treat
Even with these trying times, our 30th anniversary was very excellent dining here. Food was great. Our server was kind and considerate and answered questions with a great attitude. She made us feel very welcomed. Our 150 mile jaunt to eat here was worthwhile and memorable. Thanks for the memories. 10/13/20
Lobster roll good, price ok.
Amazing time
Always a pleasure! Great views, solid food and friendly service!
Always enjoy dining at the Trident. A bit disappointed with my sandwich with cold fatty bacon. This sandwich is usually very good.
Beautiful night with excellent service.
Food was delicious and all safety protocol was practiced.
Some of the best seafood in the city area! Beautiful peaceful atmosphere! Our waitress was really nice but it was a lil slow. Ultimately it didn’t matter because the food was so good. Their signature clam chowder was the best chowder we’ve ever had!
Excellent location with reggae music ❤️
Our first post COVID-19 restaurant meal with friends. It was a beautiful evening so sitting outside on the deck on the water was fantastic! Both the restaurant staff and patrons were respectful as far as following the Covid protocol. The cocktails were OK but the food was quite good, especially the bacon wrapped scallops and the seafood pasta. A very pleasant experience for all four of us.
Took a friend for a birthday dinner during COVID restrictions and wasn't sure what to expect. However, the outdoor seating was clean and comfortable so we really enjoyed the celebration. And honestly the BEST cioppino I have ever had!
Make sure you call them to confirm your preference for outdoor or indoor seating. I had reserved outdoor seating for sunset however they were unable to seat us outside due to “not being able to see open table notes”. This was quite disappointing.
Bartender inside doubled as our waiter but was very overwhelmed and quality of service suffered for it.
Food was good.
Our reservation wasn’t honored, waited over an hour to get the table we “reserved”. With no compensation or apology.
Beautiful restaurant, amazing views, meh overpriced food, the only saving grace was our waiter who was top notch!
Great seafood, great view and excellent service. The Cioppino was the best!
It was my wife’s birthday
Waiter was fantastic--very attentive. View on the deck was awesome,
Excellent! We love this place!
Amazing view of the bay and is even open air. The food and service was great!
The Trident is the perfect place for a “socially distanced” lunch. The spacious outdoor patio boasts a “postcard perfect” San Francisco view. The menu is fairly innovative with a great selection of crowd pleasers. Bravo!
The food is tourist quality. The staff is doing a great job in social distancing and we felt safe. For the quality of food its a bit pricey.
