Glad it has reopened. Food and service just as good as before
Four of us went for my adult daughter’s birthday. Overall we had an enjoyable evening. Our calamari, salads and vegetables were very good. My daughter and her husband had the filet mignon and they were very pleased. My wife and I had the prime rib, a house specialty, and we were not pleased. We both thought the cut was tough with gristle. For dessert we had the chocolate peanut butter cheese cake which was very large and rich. Also, had the key lime pie and thought it was very good.
The food was delicious and our group appreciated they had vegetarian options to offer other than salad.
Great food, great building, great service!
This is the only restaurant I want to go to when I am in Richmond, VA. It is absolutely beautiful, the service outstanding, the menu has nice variety of American cuisine, the food is delicious. This is an experience restaurant and well worth a visit.
Beautiful Richmond restaurant. Loved the decor and ambiance. The food was delicious- cooked perfectly and served with style. The server was attentive and made us feel special.
Art Deco, 1920s-style decor. A truly beautiful space. The drinks were outstanding, and my partner said the crab cakes were the best he’d ever had. I got the meatloaf, and it was disappointing: gray and flavorless. Our server Terrance was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and the building’s history. I wish the steaks weren’t a la carte.
We were in Richmond for the first time for a soccer tournament and wanted to try a place with some history. We were so happy we found this restaurant....the building is incredible, the food was fantastic and the service was on point. Every person in our party of 8 had a fantastic time. I can't wait until I'm in Richmond again so we can go back.
Out of town travel.
Great food- salmon, spaghetti, pork and fantastic service.
The food was delicious, the prime rib was outstanding as were the crab cakes. The service was top notch, the atmosphere was classy. After word we spent the night at bar the drinks were great, the band was very good. Great time !!
Friend’s birthday celebration- Everyone had a great time. Good service, food, drinks, & live music!!
I haven't been to this establishment since the unfortunate fire that struck it. The food hasn't changed a bit, and neither has the service. It's a glorious as I remember. I will say that the one sour point was the drink that we had wasn't the tastiest. That's our fault more so than the restaurant. We know better than to get that next time.
While the Tobacco Company is known more for its steaks we opted for the pork tenderloin with sweet potato casserole and grilled brussel sprouts and the Company chicken with spinach and mashed potatoes. The food was great and the service was excellent. The ambiance of the multi level 19th century building in Shockoe Bottom is one of a kind and worth the trip to Richmond. We’re so glad that it finally reopened after the 2017 fire. It looks just as it did before and we look forward to our next visit.
We took our parents out for a nice dinner for their recent birthdays and they have always enjoyed The Tobacco Company. Our server Olivia was great(thanks for the birthday desserts) and the food was amazing just as we expected but the noise level on the 3rd floor was surprisingly high due to the volume of the music. Everyone seemed to be talking very loud to be heard over the music at their tables which only increased the noise level. We asked for it to be turned down some but the volume didn't seem to change at all. At this price point the expectation is to be able to hold a conversation without talking loudly over music.
Everything was great
Good waiter. Good food and great ambiance.
Great atmosphere and service, and the food the amazing. One of my must dining locations when I visit the Richmond area.
Really wonderful experience here and will definitely be back! The service was incredible - loved that our server took the time to tell us about the history of the building and some of the antiques. The food was great as was the pricing! Parking was convenient with the garage around the corner. Loved the ambiance of the restaurant and can’t wait until our next visit!
The prime rib was probably the best I've ever had. Outstanding dinner!
The building is incredible. We had a good meal, unfortunately one of my clients ordered his steak medium and it was served less than rare. It took awhile to get the attention of a server To resolve. The food was corrected but no visit from Managment, no effort to make us feel they regretted the mishap. First time eating here, with so many solid choices around RICHMOND will have to consider if I return.
This restaurant still has the old world charm that contributes to its reputation. When I posted some photos on FB, I received comments like "that was where we went on our first date 30 years ago", "one of my favorite restaurants from my past", and "I had my graduation dinner there in 1975". This is a charming place that warrants return visits. The scallops and fried green tomatoes were very tasty, though a tad on the heavy side. Service was impeccable. Great wine list. Nice version of key lime pie. I would go back!
Gorgeous ambiance and professional service. Not disappointed. A bit pricey but perfect for special date.
Slow service. Steak was unremarkable and a bit chewy. Parmesan potatoes soggy. Not as good as the time I came with a party of 10. Still recommend, because the restaurant is a visual experience, and if you order tuna poke for appetizer, pasta for entrée, and butter cake for desert you will leave happy
I thought the food was better than before the fire. The building has been restored nicely and it is a pleasant place to spend the evening.
Great place for a night out, the food is always good and it's nice to have live music
The music was a touch too much. It made it hard to have a conversation or even enjoy the atmosphere. The prime rib was great though. I don’t think that I will be going back on the weekend though. There were times when the bands music killed it for me. For as much as the meal cost, I shouldn’t have to shout to my dining partner.
We sat on the third floor in a little alcove - just lovely! Our waitress was superb and the food was fabulous!!
This was a perfect choice for Valentin e's Day dinner. Food was great and the setting was not too noisy. Love the inside of the restaurant since the renovation.
Love the ambiance, the server was very attentive and helpful, and the food was good and not overpriced. I had a good time!
Great place for special occasions and date nights.
Our server, Austin, was so attentive, knowledgeable and personable. This was our first time at The Tobacco Company and we were extremely impressed. From the salad, to the bread, to the main course and dessert, we were not disappointed and did not leave hungry; we should have parked further away so we could have walked off some of our dinner. Thank you Austin for a remarkable experience. We will definitely be back!!!
Great food, lovely atmosphere, great service.
Tobacco Company restaurant is a unique experience with upscale atmosphere. Our recent visit had us seated more than 20 minutes later than the reservation time. The appeal is the beautiful and interesting architecture and decor, coupled with excellent food offerings. Parking is abundant and less than one block.
Always a great dining experience at TC!
The food is great, just don't go here for a quiet evening, or practically any conversation at all in a party more than two when a live band is playing, you can't hear a thing.
Wonderful ambiance, food, and service. Exceptional value for special occasions or a nice night out.
Great experience! Would definitely go back🍴🍴
Amazing food and atmosphere. Our server Will was the best!!
Had a great meal for Valentines Day.
Kenny did a wonderful job of service and the food was well presented and prepared very nice.
