The Tea House on Los Rios
This is my "go to" tea house for many reasons. I've been coming for years and I have never received bad service. The staff is always so knowledgeable and nice. Their Christmas TEA is phenomenal! Both the actual Christmas tea as well as the sandwiches. I really enjoyed the egg salad this year. I bring my good friends and family here to celebrate numerous occasions. I cannot not say enough good things about this place. Last year, I took the train from Irvine, had a wonderful tea, and then took the train home. It was so relaxing!
We all had a Great time and great food and customer service we plan to go again in spring
We love the tea house. We visit from New York several times a year whenever we cmon to see our grandchildren.
This time we took our 3 year old active grandson who was
So well behaved and sat for 45 minutes ! The waiter got food immediately, both our grandchildren loved it all.
Absolutely outstanding. The food was amazing and the best scone we have ever had. Just the most adorable cozy tea house I have been in. Loved every second of it. Right across from the train so a fun day.
The Tea House is charming and intimate. I have been there many times and recommend it. It's very popular for women's gatherings such as birthdays and showers. My group of four yesterday did experience lukewarm tea and my eggs Benedict were cool by the time they arrived. Due to their busyness, we didn't complain. I figured my eggs would just be popped in a microwave to warm. It's still a place I'd take an out of town guest.
Perfect birthday celebration with friends.
I had the spinach salad and added chicken breast. The chicken breast was soooo tender! And our scones were delicious. Each of us got to pick our favorite tea, which was a lot of fun! My 3 year old granddaughter didn't quite know what to expect, but she was happy, and loved her peanut butter and jam sandwiches. The only advice I'd give to someone taking their young granddaughter, is that the service was very leisurely and took about 2 and a half hours, which was about one hour longer than my granddaughter wanted to happily sit there. Perfect place for adults who want to visit and enjoy yummy food.
Great location right off the train. Darling old home, decorated for Christmas and amazing china! Damian was so hospitable as were all the servers. Mimosa flights, yummy tea sandwiches, warm heart shaped scones w jam and cream. Fresh flowers from the garden on every plate! It was a memorable day, can’t wait to go back!
One of my favorite places to visit whenever there’s a birthday or special occasion for a woman in my family
I was transported to a cottage in England, the decor and the location itself makes this a great place to visit. The food was beautifully decorated with flowers and roses. Out waiter, was patient and extremely helpful, his recommendations were prefect for us since this was our first time there. A great experience for everyone to try.
It wasn’t our cup of tea, the service was amazing, the food was delicious but why I won’t be returning is the gawking from the other customers. I wasn’t aware it was dress your Sunday best. We had toured the mission and thought lunch at Los Rios would be fit. My son was uncomfortable because we were being stared at, at both ends behind us and in front of us. Thought the staff were amazing their customers made it clear that we’re not welcomed and so I won’t be returning. Thanks for the experience
My daughters 24th Birthday.
Was my 89 year old mom’s birthday and I know how she enjoys a chance to go there. We sat outside on the pavilion and it was just a perfect California fall afternoon. Not too hot or cold and no wind. Couldn’t have been a more perfect day for her!
Fun time with my family! Tea is excellent! Scones are amazing! Great vibes and spot for conversation and special moments!
Wonderful in every aspect!
We really had a great time. Our waitress was wonderful and made our day. We celebrated our friend’s birthday and it was a perfect setting. We sat in the back room and with us and other talkative group the noise level was pretty high. All else was wonderful.
They have the most delicious scones in the world! It’s a must try!!
We had a really nice time celebrating birthdays! The food was yummy, the service was so professional and friendly. The only issue we had wasn’t their fault... the parking in the area was over filled because of a harvest carnival happening the weekend before Halloween.
Love the Tea House!! Have been there many times with family and friends.
The scones were great. The food tasted good but wasn’t plentiful enough.
Spent a lovely afternoon over "High Tea" with an old friend. So nice to have tea made with loose tea and not tea bags. Quaint setting.
The sandwiches were not good at all, but the scone was delicious. Very over priced.
If you're looking for a magical tea house that knows how to treat a girl right on her birthday, this place is it. My daughter had the best 16th birthday tea party! Wonderful staff, beautiful setting and delicious food. I was overjoyed with my daughter's experience! I can't wait to come for Victorian tea with my friends!
Been coming here for years. Hands down the best tea house in Orange County. Service, ambiance, good and tea are always exceptional!
Lovely time. No one rushed us as my friend and I caught up.
Everything about our visit was just perfect. We had not been there for a long time and it was even better than we remembered. All the staff were pleasant as well as efficient and the choices of exotic teas was mind boggling! The best part were their own freshly baked scones ..... absolutely delicious.
We wanted to have the high tea experience and this didn't disappoint. There are several levels to choose from and we choose the mid-range Los Rios Tea for about $24 per person. I'm glad we didn't get more--couldn't have eaten another bite. It started with a huge heart shaped scone with raspberry jam and cream, and a personal pot of tea. Then a plate of delicious finger sandwiches and fresh fruit served with cream and brown sugar. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive, the presentation and outdoor ambience both very lovely. They were even able to serve one order gluten free for a small extra charge. The whole experience was absolutely delightful from start to finish and would not hesitate to go again.
This is our absolute favorite place for a get together with friends or our traditional family holiday teas. It’s worth the drive for us to go to this very special restaurant. We HIGHLY recommend The Teahouse On Los Rios.
The atmosphere, as always, was lovely. The scones are superb and the tea even more so. We had the Harvest Tea, which was very good, but I did think it was a bit over priced. No matter, it was a lovely and delicious way to spend the afternoon.
This place is so worth going to. It’s my favorite tea house. The food is delicious and it is fairly priced. The tea service sounds like a small amount of food, but it fills you up. Also if you don’t finish your pot of tea you can ask for it in a hot to go cup.
Fantastic place for tea! Great atmosphere and ambiance. Food was really good and very filling. I will definitely go again.
Such a special little place! Very quiet on a Wednesday afternoon. Service was top notch, salad and fruit were super fresh, and the decor is just lovely. Definitely a "special occasion" type place because it was a little pricey, but worth every penny.
I just love this place. Every time I go, it's wonderful!
Teas were delicious, food was outstanding, service was friendly, and the atmosphere was nice. Would definitely return, especially to try the brunch menu.
Our server was amazing!!!!!
Our waitress Cindy was the best waitress I've ever had anywhere! They have hats you can choose to wear and feel extra English! Our food was amazing, a really good selection. We tried all the teas we wanted to and had such a great time. Only thing I wish was different was having tea included in the entree. Over all I would definitely recommend this place for a girls day Thank you so much Cindy!!!
Lovely tea! Only problem was the very loud girl party in the next room! Food was delicious, service was fantastic!
Great atmosphere. Great service. Great food.
I went with my daughter for the first time and we were very happy with pretty the surrounding and the delicious black currant jam and sconce and the tea sandwiches. There is plenty of parking space on site and is close to the public parking structure as well, just cross the train tracks.
The Tea House is a wonderful place to go for many reasons, and not just for amazing food, outstanding service, and the beautiful ambiance of an old home with porches and rooms welcoming a places to dine and views of Old Town Los Rios. But also, to me, it captures a feeling of yesteryear where life slows to enjoy the ritual of Tea, food, and conversation with friends in a place reminesiant of years gone by. Even when you go home the feeling of joy and happiness lingers. It is a happy experience on many levels, and a place one will keep going to, I promise!
