The Tasting Room at Kings Harbor in Kingwood, Texas is a sophisticated but casual establishment where you can sample wines from everywhere in the world along with local beers and classic cocktails. The staff are very knowledgeable, and will be happy to recommend just the right beverage to pair with your meal. At the Tasting Room, you might begin by sharing a cheese board, or enjoying the steak tartare, wild mushroom pate or deviled eggs, which are just a few of the starters on offer. Then try a gourmet pizza like the smoked salmon or roasted seasonal vegetables, or build your own from a variety of toppings. I've been here many times, but the last couple times, I've left disappointed mainly due to the high price and food that doesn't meet expectations. A friend and I visited here for a girls get-together. We ordered several appetizers - meatballs, hummus and meat/cheese charcuterie. I had a couple glasses of wine, and she had a couple martinis. The wine selection was good as always, but I'd definitely recommend going during happy hour instead because of the price. The appetizers are also overpriced unless you go at happy hour. I love cheese, but the charcuterie board left so much to be desired. I should have taken a photo of it. First, the cheese selection wasn't good. I have no idea what the cheeses were because the waitress didn't explain them as they are supposed to, other than the blue cheese. I really think blue cheese isn't really a charcuterie quality cheese. I feel that the only reason it made it to the board was because the restaurant had it laying around as one of the common cooking cheeses. The other cheeses tasted good, but they were so stingy with the tiny portions. The meats were flattened underneath the pile of fruits and nuts, so I had to dig through all of that to get to them. They were good, though. The bread was thin and flimsy, so it was hard to spread any cheese on it. The hummus was good, but they didn't give us enough bread. We could have asked for more, I suppose. The meatballs were tasty, but I think they were a little well-done. The bill was expensive, even with my $20 Open Table reward check. I don't think the quality matched the price tag. I probably will only be back for happy hour in the future. One good thing - the view and ambiance is great.

Food was excellent, wine was decently priced, but a little over priced. Had a great time and enjoyed the location, & ambiance...

Showed for a reservation at 12:15, long after brunch opening. No hostess in sight, and finally the guitarist told us (mid song!) to seat ourselves. Took a while to be greeted and given menus, and forever to receive our first course, despite only four parties in the place. Food is fine, but they need to up their staff to have timely, professional service.

There were 4 people in our party. Three of us ordered from the special menu for restaurant month. We thought the selections offered on that menu would work for each person in our group. Three of us order drinks. I would highly recommend the sangria. Three of us order the calamari as an appetizer. It had a good flavor albeit a bit over cooked. Also the three of us order the chicken fried steak. It was way over cooked. One person in our group sent it back and order something else. The manager did not charge for the substituted meal and gave a substantial discount for what was charged . That was very professional and appreciated. I believe we would go back again.

The restaurant seemed very short-handed in personnel. I thought the first course was great, the second course ok and needed classing up, the third course (fish) was tasteless, and the final course was good.

We all ordered from the Houston Restaurant Week menu. I had calamari for my appetizer. It was overcooked; very rubbery. We all ordered the white fish over a bed of rice as our main course. The entire dish was very bland. The rice tasted like minute rice. The only thing that was decent was the dessert. To top it all of the service was not great. The experience was a total bummer! I'll never go back!

Maybe they were understaffed but the service was poor. We were there an hour before our starter was served and mine was cold. I took one bite and pushed it aside. The waiter never came to check and when our salad was served he saw it sitting on the table and never asked if something was wrong. The entrees were ok but the ice cream cookie was disappointing, very little ice cream and I would say the cookies were not homemade. We order wine which was great but we will not go back. Disappointing!
