   I made reservations for a Saturday night for an early Father’s Day dinner. We had never been hear before and the fact we had to leave a credit card, I figured it was pretty nice. As soon as we arrived and were sat at our table in a very noisy room I knew this was not going to be the dining experience I planned for. My husband and I ordered a drink and some appetizers for the family. Immediately we were informed that they possibly didn’t have the appetizer we wanted but the staff did not mention half the menu was not available either. When it came time to order, I had to share a $130 steak with my 17 year old son because that was the only steak available. My husband had to ask twice for a steak knife to eat his dinner. The food was not bad but definitely not worth the exorbitant prices especially with the poor service and the fact no one came back to ask if we would like another drink. We have eaten at some pretty amazing restaurants but this place is definitely at the bottom of my list. I really can’t believe it has such great reviews because I usually take those into account. Take my advance, don’t waste your money.

   The food and drinks were incredible! I wish we could say the same about our server. We had come for our 5th anniversary and had heard some great things about Maverick Whisky but could not help being disappointed in the service we had received. Our waiter seemed to be annoyed the minute they waited on us and it kind of made us feel like we were not welcome at all.

   The food was absolutely amazing in particular the thrice cooked potatoes. The manager came over to talk to us and we learned a lot about the history of the building and the restaurant. My husband had the whiskey flight and enjoyed it, while I ordered their stout beer which they also brew on property. Very refreshing. I look forward to eating here again when we come to San Antonio.

   The food was amazing. So that wasn’t an issue. But our server did not know the menu well. Our marmalade was missing from our brioche appetizer and when we asked where it was our server said it didn’t come with it when it clearly stated it on the menu. A little disappointing when you spend almost $300 for 2 people to eat.

   The experience was a bit off putting given they called us to cancel our reservation an hour before it was supposed to take place then they called us back saying it was back on. The service was a bit confused when we ordered the charcuterie. We were told there were 3 meats and 2 cheeses but it came with no cheese and some strange duck liver pate. Overall the service was stretched thin but the steak and food was excellent.

   The covid menu was wonderful the first 2 visits. I was disappointed in the options offered on the menu. I ordered an appetizer because I didn't dress up and go downtown to eat wild hog. Steaks priced high but I can appreciate the cost of good beef. Seemed like too many game items on the menu. The charcuterie board was awesome the first 2 visits. Very unhappy with this choice this time. The drinks were wonderful. Really impressed with the quality of the alcohol.

   This place is a Rare Gem. Service was fantastic, the whiskey superb, and the food was phenomenal. Must try!

   We used to love it here, but they did away with the best wishes warmest regards drink and would not attempt to make it. They also no longer had the deviled eggs. Way overpriced for the drinks we did receive. We were so excited to bring family here and it was so disappointing.
