Initially sat in cold draught and seemed problem moving us but did after first course. My food fine, my wife had fish and batter so soggy. Apologies given and 50% knocked off fish & chips. Won't rush back.

Starters tasty. Pate & bruchetta. Main meal wow. Mixed grill and risotto fabulous, good portion well presented tasty Dessert awful. Cheesecake very chalky tasteless. Cheese on cheese board dry and crusty. Very cold in building eating with coat on Service polite but had to ask twice for water.

We enjoyed ourselves very much - just a couple of comments about the hanging skewers main courses - they look great but the stuff hanging on the skewer goes cold really quickly, and new poatatoes are an odd accompaniment. Otherwise it was great - and good for our coeliac guest, who was able to find a nice meal that worked for her

The reason for the less than positive review is due to a few different factors. The food in the main was ok, reasonable value. However, I emailed the management on 4 January to raise a few points that I felt a little disappointed in, particularly being charged, however little, for a 'cream' jug size of extra gravy. Without dwelling on the food itself, the food service was very slow, although staff were friendly on the whole. The main area of concern, was seeing a waiter in between courses, loitering, with a pencil hanging out of his nostril which he then proceeded to put in his ear. Obviously he would have been handling the pencil, then proceed to serve customers with drinks, meals etc. All these points were raised in email, I received a reply on 5 January promising to investigate the issues I raised and get back to me, 'by midweek'. Despite two more emails to enquire if matters had been looked into I still have received no further reply (5 Feb) So as things stand at the moment, I wouldn't go back there for food. On a positive note, it is the first time I have been in the establishment in 20 years and the refurbishment is very pleasing.

I would recommend because they have made the attempt to offer veggie, vegan and gluten free menus. My main criticism would be the vegan options aren’t great and the only dessert is sorbet.

The food was acceptable but they made basic service errors; we were approached to make a payment before we had even ordered. My drink never arrived despite us asking for it several times yet it still appeared on the bill. They need a front of house experienced person to sort out all the young people working there.
