About The Stanton Social
Chef/owner Chris Santos has teamed up with Tao owner Richard Wolf, and the James Beard 'Best New Restaurant Design' award winning firm AvroKo, to create The Stanton Social, a staple and neighborhood favorite of the Lower East Side.
The design of this three level hot spot tips it's hat to the neighborhood’s garment history and offers diners a culinary odyssey. All menu items are designed for sharing, offering guests a chance to experience multiple dishes and flavors throughout their meal. In addition to its 120 seats, The Stanton Social offers a lounge and bar on the upper level, featuring guest DJs. Dishes range from $9-$30 each.

The Stanton Social Ratings and Reviews
Love this restaurant every time we go. It's great being able to try so many different things with the small plates sharing idea. The cocktails are awesome, too. We especially liked the lobster roll sliders and the onion soup dumplings. We always have to end our night with the signature doughnuts with caramel sauce. Will definitely be back again.
It was a terrible experience and probably my worst dining experience in 10 years in NYC. The restaurant did not honor my reservation despite calling and confirming, so after nearly an hour we left without being seated or offered any real resolution, we left. I've gone to this restaurant numerous times over the past 7 years and usually had good experiences, but the treatment that we received last night was so below par that I'll never go back. The hostess was very nice and apologetic, but had no authority. And the manager couldn't be bothered. After calling and confirming the reservation by phone and online, then arriving with my entire party before our time, they never sat us at our table and tried to convince us to spend an hour in their cramped bar to text us when a table was ready. After we paid for 2 sugary drinks and checking in with the hostess for the third time, we gave up.
Bottomline: As I had heard from other people recently, this restaurant is no longer in the class of restaurants to visit. Go elsewhere.
Was having a girls weekend with friends from college and was excited about going to Stanton, as we have been to Beauty and Essex in the past and loved it. We had reservations for a Saturday night at 8:15pm and upon arrival was told that it would be a little bit of a wait. When asked how long we were told "We do not give times because we do not want to fail to meet your expectations..." We did not get seated until 10:30pm! We tried waiting it out at the bar upstairs but constantly went back to the dining room to check on the table. After MUCH complaining we finally got 1 round of drinks comped and when seated were given 1 free tapas plate. To be honest, the entire meal should have been comped. We spent a lot of money on drinks upstairs waiting for our table, we were starving and had plans after diner that had to be rearranged because of our wait. Management clearly overbooked the reservations for the night. Hostess was rude, while I understand many people were on top of her about the wait (we were not the only people to wait as long as we did)she could have been much nicer and management should have came out to help with damage control. Extremely disappointed.
Celebrated my wife's birthday Saturday night. Had a great time as the food and vibe was great. Our server "Big City Jim" was awesome. He was spot on with both service and his recommendations. The beef Wellington was the right choice. I look forward to a return visit.
Fun people watching but overall
Crowd a bit young table in front of us a group of tweens....
great food interesting vibe just VERY young. Haven’t girls in tiaras with printed shirts identifying the occasion since the 90’s....felt a bit too old for the place....but it was a great meal. Relatively affordable was surprised by bill at end of evening.
Very poor service. We made it very clear that I didn’t eat meat, and they assured us they would be able to do a vegetarian version of the mac and cheese, but then it came with sausage. I had a bite before we realized and then got violently ill. Will not return.
We booked Stanton Social for my girlfriends birthday. It was absolutely the best decision. It’s hard to find any flaws with the service, food or ambiance when dinning at Stanton Social. If you can imagine what the perfect dinning experience looks like, this exceeds the imagination. Stanton Social is expensive, but, that is because it is worth it!!
The food was great! We had Korean tacos, fish tacos, mac n cheese, and kobe beef sliders. Drinks were creative and very strong! Went with the spicy grapefruit drink - Lost in Polanco. music was awesome and not too loud so you can still have conversation.
I do love Chris Santos’ restaurants so I gave the service a pass here. The waiter was extremely dismissive. He mumbled and rushed through the specials for the evening and seemed disinterested when he would pass by our table. That was very weird given that we told him this was our first time at the restaurant.
Proposed to my long time girlfriend while walking through NYC and decided to surprise her with diner at the Stanton Social based on a friends recommendation. The food did not disappoint! Everything we had was delicious, and even though they serve small sharable plates there was plenty of it! I had also commented when making the reservation that I was planning on proposing that day and they surprised us with some delicious donuts and champagne. We will definitely go back here in the future!
This was the worst experience. We had a reservation for 9 and table was still not ready till 9:45. We got there early to even let them know we were there. No information from host, she was completely rude and not communicating properly. Spoke with manager and she kept asking us to grab a drink and they had busy night. Not sure how that’s relevant when we had reservation made ahead of time. I had party of 7 and last min we had to go somewhere else.
Ambiance was cool, good music, a place to bring groups of friends and food was fast and delicious. Downfall, waited 45 minutes for our table when we had reservations, and it was like that with every table in front of us. I saw a lot of reviews with the same issue.
Food was good but the service was obnoxious. Portions are small for the price. The waiter was constantly trying to upsell us in an extremely condescending way. He literally said: when you buy a bottle of wine you get more wine for less money. So you’re telling me you want to pay more for less?
Everything I had was amazing (chicken taquito, French onion dumplings, fries, mac and cheese, Kobe burger and Philly cheesesteak which I ended up ordering another because they're just so bomb) in addition to those items I had what used to be a staple on their menu, the chicken and waffle :( this is the biggest disappointment. I've been going to Stanton since I was 20 (almost 10 yrs ago) and the reason I fell in love with the restaurant was the chicken and waffles. It was brick pressed, w some kind of creamy corn, a sweet glaze on top and scallion (something like that, it was amazing) every time I come in I cross my fingers that it's prepared that way :( unfortunately NOW it's fried w the spiciest batter they could come up w and a nasty variation of a waffle. Sorry chef, do better. (Bring the old prep back! And the Cajun shrimp)
reservation was for 7:45pm and our fault we showed up 10minutes late. They wouldn't seat us until all parties where there(other person came 5min later) Said it wouldn't be long but we ended up not getting sitted until 9ish. If it wasn't for the manager I wouldn't even give it the good stars I did. Crazy loud
Amazing service, fantastic courses of delicious morsels of delectable cuisine, paired with the best mango, sage and gin cocktail in NYC! French onion dumplings, sweet potato and goat cheese pierogies and short rib beef and broccoli were so pleasing on the palate, that it almost made me forget the hour long wait for our reserved table :(
Our wonderful group of 8 were tremendously patient and understanding, however we were celebrating a milestone birthday, that was completely overlooked by management!
Definitely worth the wait, just a little bit of TLC to go the extra mile for customer retention!
Very slow service. Practically everyone in the restaurant got their meal before we received anything other than poorly shucked oysters. Don't ask any details about the oysters, the server could only tell us that they had east and west!! No further details until going and finding out. Amazing.
The only good thing about the experience is that the staff quickly identified that they had messed up and comped us our two drinks and six oysters. An hour plus long experience.
We took my mother there for her 74th birthday. Booked a week in advance and used special notes section in open table. Apparently they do not read these. Had to equest a booth again at check in. Was told diner selections would come out at a nice pace. They dropped the first 5 All at once then pretty much did the same with the last three. They switched waiters mid service saying one had to leave, while all the while he kept passing by our table to serve the next booth. Service was mediocre.
