Make The Standard your standard!
This was our first visit to the Standard. The space is very nice and was surprised by the large patio in the rear. The menu is extensive with a number of unique dishes. The menu is fairly pricy but the portions are good sized and the quality is very good. We will definitely be back to try some of the Moroccan themed items. I can't believe this was my first visit and I look forward to several more.
Food was very good, but staff and management did not always wear masks. Our waitress routinely removed her mask to talk and the owner seemed not to even have one. Furthermore, the “outside” dining was actually an enclosed structure. We had to ask to sit actually outside.
Not even close to following COIVD protocol. Most of staff not wearing masks. Patrons wandering around maskless. Bar packed, with people standing behind people in chairs at the bar. Owner walking up to tables with no mask .
As always, The Standard never disappoints. Incredible menu! Never had any dish there that was not amazing.
It is soooo worth the drive.
Delicious! Loved every minute and every bite.
Amazing food and service. We loved this place and will be returning soon
A must dine at. Friendly, neighborhood, low key, best kept, secret.
Dinner with family and friends. Awesome staff and food. Live music was perfect. Great dinner experience. Highly recommend.
The food was delicious, Said and his crew made the food magical. We've been dining with him since Uptown Grille and he never disappoints. The service was great, very attentive and attention to detail on point.
Loved it!! Every single drink, appetizer and main course we had were incredible. Will be back again.
Well, let me put everything into key points:
1) We mentioned that we have our anniversary while booking the table, but hostess at the door and waiter didn’t say anything not bothered to ask us about it. We decided not to be proactive and tell them about it because it would like we are begging for extra attention.
2) Our drinks we ordered were forgotten twice and showed up with appetizers even though I must say bartender did a very good job.
3) one of appetizers we ordered was bone marrow, even though they should change the name to “just bone”. No marrow. When I pointed that the bone was cut improperly and I just received a bone with almost nothing in it waiter told me that due to COVID supplies went down and this basically why I must pay 15 dollars for the bone alone. Didn’t want to ruin our day and decided not to continue this argument.
4) main dish showed up with raw meat on skewers instead of medium and then they finished it in the oven to well well done, and me and my wife decided that will finish the meal no matter what and just leave and will buy desert somewhere else. Couscous was dry as a beach sand(they could at least cover their mistake my putting a bit of olive oil in it)
5) Top of the evening was hot bread for the table, which showed up a minute before waiter delivered refinished main dish with dry meat. Not at the beginning of our meal.
P.S.: If not for one escargot appetizer, which was the only good appetizer out of three ordered and two absolutely great cocktails, they evening was ruined only by 90% and not by 100%.
One of Cleveland's best of the best restaurants. It is a must go to restaurant.
Quaint dining atmosphere creative menu selection and live jazz music to add to the ambiance! Absolutely 5 star!!
Beautifully prepared French and Moroccan Mediterranean dishes. A fun and easy place to do a "tapas" style meal of small plates for sharing. Highly recommend!
Being seated upstairs was not at all ideal... that along with being in a bad part of town is enough for us never to return
The food was amazing. The service was good and friendly.
It was Valentine's day and we felt it was a little to crowded for Covid times we were really close to the tables next to us, and several servers and employees were not wearing masks.
Other than the lack of covid safety it was amazing.
Fantastic place to go for a Valentine’s Day meal. Quite pricey but for a special occasion it’s absolutely worth every Penny.
Food was fantastic. We would definitely return again.
The food and drinks were amazing. The service was average. Compared to other higher end restaurants I felt they were lacking a bit. Overall we got what we ordered. It was pretty smoky in the restaurant. Our clothes all smelled like the kitchen which was disappointing. I feel like this would be an easy fix and would improve the experience tremendously. I would certainly go back and try again. We have been talking about the food for the last couple days 🤤
Great food! We loved our little private room upstairs. Service was excellent too.
Very cool place with excellent food and ambiance...Will be back for sure
The chef here is amazing! You will not have another dining experience like this! Food is incredible and large portions!!! Beautiful ambiance.
Great food. Great service, cool spot. Highly recommend.
My favorite Resturant and the food is always outstanding. Chef Said is so wonderful!!!
lots to choose from on the menu and service was excellent despite being shorthanded
Great place and awesome Chef...amazing cuisine! Will definitely return!
We usually have good food there and great portion sizes. This night the rack of lamb was undercooked and lacked good flavor, too heavy on the breading. My steak was also undercooked. We both asked them to be done medium. As I said usually the meal is done correctly as requested. The coffee and desert was wonderful. Sad they don’t have ice cream available and the Brussel sprout dish is still off the menu.
The ambiance is great. We will definitely return. Everyone can have an off night.
Very good service, we loved Trisha 🥰😘😘
The Standard is one of the best-kept secrets in Cleveland. The wait staff, chef, who comes personally to your table to ask you about your meal, and of course, Michael really all create a comfortable environment for fine dining. The drinks, wine selection, and menu are extraordinary. Bravo to all!
The service, quality of food and space was wonderful.
couple people with no masks otherwise OK
food ok ,oysters not so much
Came here for the first time on November 11. What a find! Our 1st night (yes, there were 2), we were seated inside, with a view of the kitchen. It was a quiet, cozy space. The menu was an intriguing blend of French and Moroccan. I had the wedge salad & stole much of Paul's Shrimp & Lobster Bisque. Paul had the Bouillabaisse de Marseille, which was fab (I stole some of that, too). I had a fish special but cannot remember the details, just the impression - wonderful. We had the Chocolate Cake for desert. The wine list was good and we found a bottle to much to our taste.
I must say a few words about the staff. It was an incredibly warm, friending, inviting and fun staff. From the person who greeted us at the door, to our server and last, but not least, the Chef, who stopped by to check on us and chat. It was very nice.
We don't live close to this restaurant (about an hour away), but had to be in the vicinity again the next day. Without hesitation, we decided to go again, but this time we sat out on the enclosed patio and decided to go Moroccan.
I love Moroccan food and have had it often in Europe and in California. I have not had it in Ohio. It was spectacular. This time I had the shrimp & lobster bisque (and didn't give any to Paul) & the Fez Chicken, which was delicious, & a very large portion (dinner & lunch). Paul had the braised lamb shank couscous. WHOA..I almost forgot to mention the Almond Joy superspecial drink we had for dessert. Don't miss it!
I can't say enough about this restaurant. It is difficult to find a combination of the right ambiance, the right cuisine expertly prepared and a really professional (without being stuffy) staff. I strongly recommend the Standard and look forward to going there again. The owner is a gifted chef and a gracious host.
Dear Santa, can you bring me The Standard a little closer to home? Maybe Cuyahoga Falls? If not, I'll be schlepping back up to Cleveland...
This was my 3rd time at The Standard and it is quickly becoming one of my favorite restaurants in Cleveland. Perfect atmosphere for a date with your significant other or girlfriends. The food and service was excellent as usual - I even tried a couple new holiday cocktails on the menu which were excellent as well. To mention, the chef/owner has always greeted me when being seated at my table, which I think is important to mention and contributes to the many reasons why I keep coming back.
Always a delight. Food and serrated always great.
Best restaurant in Cleveland! The chef is incredible and the hospitality takes you back in time. Can’t miss.
Wonderful paella - wonderful menu, wine and outdoor dining in the heated tent. Will definitely go back. Well done!
We truly love this location! The food was great, the service was perfect. Could not have been happier!
I had the short ribs, they were great but my wife had the Sea Bass and Mango Salsa and it was one of the best things we have ever eaten!
Looked on line at the menu. One of the reasons we chose. Disappointed that the menus were not the same. Two items I went for where not available. Otherwise ok.
Place set up for social distancing, wait staff masked and everything was great. Soft music as background. We went at 5pm to avoid a crowd and we were the only people there til 6pm. The food was outstanding as always. Hope they are able to survive the pandemic.
We will be back soon.
Had a wonderful time that evening. The food was excellent though to be honest I was more interested in whom I was with:-) Had the Butternut Squash Bisque and it was excellent! She had the Filet dish and I had the twin Lobster Tails. Both were done to perfection with great flavor. They took the roasted Brussel Sprouts off this menu but I’m sure they will bring them back soon.
The practice appropriate Covid precautions so we were not at all concerned about eating at The Standard. Would highly recommend you try it out if you would like great dining and excellent food with a wide selection to choose from.
