I thought the price was a bit expensive for what you got. Service could’ve been better. Ambiance was great!
This was our 3rd Mother’s Day Brunch and it’ll be our last. We could see you you reduced the amount of food selections but at the end the cost was still too expensive for what you’re offering. It was difficult communicating with our waitress due to a language barrier.
Mother’s Day Brunch was absolutely fabulous! From check in to checkout, my daughter and I enjoyed a wonderful non rushed brunch that included an excellent selection of food! The shrimp and oyster set up was fabulous with the “mom” ice sculpture. I love oysters and was so full I could not partake! Our reservation was at 11 am. The complimentary valet parking was a nice touch, the restaurant was not over crowded, which was so nice there was plenty of space it seemed although it was full as there were many rooms very nicely decorated. I have not been to the Saint Anthony in my 17 years living in San Antonio and was pleasantly surprised and impressed with just this visit! I had no idea it is a Marriott Property. We usually frequent The Menger Brunch for special occasions, which is also located downtown San Antonio. I will say I read the reviews prior to making this reservation and “pricey” was WELL worth every cent! 20 percent tip and taxes are included in your check, which I found to be absolutely ok. I also loved the table decorations, soft pinks and white tablecloths. I felt like I was dining back in Washington DC! Additionally, the hotel did not require a credit card to “hold your reservation”, which I personally find to be tacky. I would recommend this brunch to anyone it could not have been better! Excellent!
Would recommend this beautiful hotel brunch with one caveat: the hefty $28 service charge for which we were charged twice (for 2 diners).
Food offerings were hit and miss but the beautiful setting and service were outstanding.
James Brown was very accommodating during a very busy morning and we appreciated his help. Great customer service, delicious food and beautiful environment.
Thanksgiving Day with family
The price was just simply too high for this event. $75.00 per person along with a mandatory service fee was quite unexpected. All other aspects were exceptional from service to food quality.
This was the first time I had been to the St. Anthony hotel for Thanksgiving Day feast. Enjoyed the dining room atmosphere. Beautiful settings & table decor on the tables. Excellent entertainment. Food was very delicious & eye appealing.
We went for a the Thanksgiving brunch and left disappointed. It’s no wonder that they were taking walk-ins on a day that you expect to be busy. Meat was ok but mostly cold, side dishes were sitting too long. Way overpriced. No menu or any description of charges, even when requested. Obligatory service charge regardless of party size. Poor value, never again.
Loverly facility. Pretty good service. Good food. Buffet selection for $75 per person was a little less than expected. Live music was a wonderful addition to the dinner. Truly beautiful ambiance.
The Thanksgiving Feast was a BIG DISSAPOINTMENT! We have been to their feasts before as well as other hotels in the area so we have a point of comparison. The food choices were very limited. One small ballroom worth of limited varieties of holiday entries. Few salad and fruit choices. Cheese choices were mostly different variety of goat cheese, very repetitive. Charcuterie also limited with 4 varieties of meats. Smoked salmon BUT no bagels, cream cheese or other accompaniments. Only one bread choice and one cracker choice (toast points). Seafood was okay but the crab salad in individual cups was warm. Should have been chilled. Boiled shrimp big but tasteless. Desserts predictable and nothing outstanding. Straight out of a commercial baker.
But the MOST DISAPPOINTING part of this experience was the charge on champagne. I called on three different occasions asking the food/hotel staff if champagne was included in the "feast" and I asked in three different ways and each time they confirmed champagne WAS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE PER PERSON ($67.50 senior discount per). Would not have attended if the champagne was not included in the "feast".
Husband and I asked for water, champagne (will refills) and ONE GLASS OF ORANGE JUICE. When the bill came ($311.65 total) I saw the invoice. We got charged 9 MIMOSAS ($6 per) for my hubs and for myself for a total of $118. Insult to injury, we got charged 20% service charge PER PERSON ($48.60 total). We made the mistake of giving our wait person an additional tip so we ended up tipping 3 times! But that's on us.
We save during the year for our little luxuries like a nice Thanksgiving meal, as we are retired. It's not a hardship on us UNLESS it is not worth the cost. The management did adjust and the final bill came to $173.44. Nonetheless, we felt it was not worth half that amount. WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO THE ST. ANTHONY FOR THEIR so called THANKSGIVING "FEAST". I think we over payed. Lesson learned.
Ambience and service were spectacular. The Thanksgiving buffet and meal itself is not worth $75 each plus an automatic 20% service charge. We miss the buffet at the Marriott Rivercenter. We likely won’t return unfortunately.
we had a great time for mother day. thank you very much for the time we spent.
Service was fantastic, menu was excellent, food was great; Atmosphere was perfect
Went for Mother’s Day brunch, pricy but really good food and service. Too expensive for most occasions though
The St Anthony was a great venue for the Mother’s Day brunch. Service and food was fantastic.
Everything was great until our server took our bill. Upon him noticing we didn't add a tip on top of the 24% Service Charge, we no longer received refills on our coffee or juice without having to flag him down. He stopped serving us after that, and could no longer find him.
The mandatory 20% Tip was inappropriate as it was a Buffet, if I had wait staff get all of my food then do be it. Limiting a $82 meal to get 1 mimosa is kinda cheap. Food was good but average selection. Will go back to Las Canarias. They offer bloody Mary’s king crab and caviar, lox etc.
The food was ok and. It quite what I was expecting based on my last experience eating there. They didn’t serve their house made bacon which is the best bacon I’ve ever eaten, and when I asked about getting some they brought me a plate of bacon from the buffet..which I already had. Overall it was ok and probably a bit overpriced.
Thanksgiving dinner. Arrived on time. Dried out food and no turkey available. Very poor food quality. Never will go there again. Over priced. $300 for 3 people ands mandatory 20% tip for a self service buffet. Awful, pathetic and forgettable.
Food definitely above average for a holiday buffet. Not inexpensive, but reasonable if you bring your appetite and are drinking. Included bottomless mimosas and Bloody Mary’s; the young adults appreciated this. Service was a little stretched. They were able to move our table to accommodate our elderly parents as the assessibilty is a challenge. A thoughtful 10% discount for seniors.
After many of going to the St Anthony for Thankgiven brunch(18 years) we will not return next year because of the poor food And Service .
The most beautiful hotel atmosphere I've ever experienced. We were seated in the sunroom overlooking Travis Park which was a treat. Live piano music was a nice touch. The food/buffet presentation was great, but the food was average quality especially for the price. Service was disappointing for a hotel of this stature. Server was non-attentive. Our bill was presented before we were even close to being finished with our meal.
Worst Mother's Day brunch possible. Only 1/3 of food was available when we arrived. Another 1/3 eventually showed up. I don't know what happened to the last 1/3. The service was similar to low class Chinese buffets, but worse. This completely ruined our Mother's Day. My wife comment d that not 1 person who worked they told her happy Mother's Day. The food that was there was hit or miss. Great French toast, mediocre sea food and average roasts. The kids food was fine but not as advertised. The worst was the automatic 24% gratuity for the god awful service. I asked the management about the lack of food and his response was nothing. Literally shook his head, nothing verbal. Avoid at all costs, there are tons better places.
This was the worst mothers-day brunch I have every been too. We had 10:30 reservation. Food wasn't put out until almost 11:30 - No service. Had to get our own water and butter. All this for $75 per person. Very disappointed and will not return next year. It's a shame that San Antonio's best hotel was terrible.
Did not have a food selection of previous branches in the San Antonio/Austin area. Much of the food was not very warm i.e. mash potatoes etc., chicken was dry, shrimp did not have much taste, carving station (meat) was very fatty. Valet parking was great.
The service was fantastic, the food was great, the atmosphere was festive. The hospitality was incredible and we were made to feel special and welcome.
Food was bland although they had a vast selection. Presentation was nice. Ambiance was excellent. Not worth the Easter Brunch prices.
Was not all that happy with the seating arrangement.
We felt the food could have been a little warmer?
The Hotel is very beautiful.
Beast Thanksgiving dinner at a Restruant and we've done a few!
