We appreciated the extra precautions due to covid. The service was stellar and food was delicious.
It was a nice restaurant with a cool views and is very spacious for safe distancing dining.
I was ecstatic to reserve a table for Thanksgiving and was sadly disappointed once seated. The food was subpar, bland and the sides came out burnt. The only dish I can say was okay is the main dish in which I purchased the carved Turkey/Garlic Mash with Sautéed Spinach. I thought with the subpar meal received, we can at least enjoy dessert and sadly I was mistaken. The caramelized apple compote Ice Cream was subpar and there was if any apples in it at all. I have eaten here in the past and was truly shocked at the lack luster. We all agreed that next time we would rather cook our own dishes instead of spending money out for a meal :/.
The waiter kept calling me “brother” every time he addressed me. I assume because I’m African American he felt that this was appropriate; however, he did not address the white patrons as “dude” or anything like that. The waiter wasn’t black and probably was in his late twenties, but my son is around his age and none of his friends call me “brother” and I don’t expect someone in a restaurant to do that either. The staff needs to be taught how to address “all” patrons!
The food is delicious and the service is nice and attentive.
Thanksgiving dinner at Penn Quarter.
It was just ok. Butternut soup was lukewarm. Turkey potpie was tasty. Table sides and bread was average. Lacked flavor/seasoning. The decor needs a major upgrade. Chairs, tables and floor is cafeteria like. Quite uncomfortable. Hostess and Servers are friendly and pleasant. Not horrible but not impressive either.
I've been to The Smith in NYC and was looking forward to enjoying the food in DC like I did in NYC. I will say that the food experience is better in NYC than it was at this Smith in DC.
Food was "meh' and small portioned...I am wondering whether I was getting last weeks leftover short rib, debunked and practically grated over the rigatoni. When I asked for a side salad, they didn't have one and their version of one was field greens...JUST field greens. Didn't even have bleu cheese dressing!?! What restaurant does not have bleu cheese dressing? 3rd time there, 3rd time underwhelmed.
Loved the ambience. Food and drinks were great. Server was attentive. Loved visiting this place!
Nice outside seating. Burgers are great. Burgers are great.
Great Brunch menu, and fast, attentive service. The space is wonderful.
So it is Covid, and that comes with a lot of difficulty. We arrived about 10 minutes late for our reservation because parking is tough. We ordered drinks, appetizers and meals within 20 minutes of sitting down - the wait staff did not seem to be in a huge hurry, but our reservation was at 8:30, and we were hungry. We got our appetizers, all great. And drinks, all great. The waiter came to our table about half an hour after the appetizers were gone to tell us two of our dishes were no longer available. We ordered alternatives. Then he came back five minutes later to tell us that only two of our dinners would be coming out - for a table of 5, three of whom were very hungry college students. The waiter comped the two meals that were delivered, and the drinks, but it was around 10 by then and NOTHING was open, with it being Covid and all. So it was a bit of a disappointment. The staff was great - they were apologetic, but we had driven in from Cleveland, and hadn’t eaten since breakfast. I would recommend only early reservations.
Good food and good service with outdoor seating...
Just another great meal!
It was excellent. We were able to be seated at a window on a beautiful day. The fixed price menu is great for lunch.
This was our first time dining at The Smith, and it exceeded our expectations. The Mules were great and the food was excellent! I am gluten free and they were very accommodating in helping me to find something that would suit my needs. They have tables spread out with plenty of distance between them, both inside and outside, which made us feel at easy while dining. Overall, it was a great experience and we can't wait to dine there again!
Great food! Great Service and amazing atmostphere. One of my favorite spots in DC to grab a quick lunch.
Great, would definitely come back again!
Staff was rude, drink was incredibly weak and under poured. Did not stay for dinner.
The staff was so helpful and respected my desire to be outside. I just like the staff so much and the food was great.
One of my fav places in the city to eat, doing well with social distancing.
Service was excellent! I’ve heard such great things about The Smith but I did not think the eggs Benedict was anything special. Other than bernaise sauce there wasn’t any other topping offered with the dish.
We love this restaurant. BUT we’re very disappointed in the service- lack of- this night. Everything was slow! Server asked us if we would like bread - first thing they asked us - and it took 45 minutes and 4 additional requests before it arrived. Drinks were slow. Servers were not attentive and it was difficult to flag them down when they were at nearby tables because they didn’t look in our direction to see me waving.
Great food but pricey for a place with burger and sandwich options for dinner! Also service was slow and inattentive.
The service is quick, the food is good but the drinks are not good. The food could also be delivered a little hotter
Great food. I had the lobster roll and it was exactly what I was wanting !! Very happy with the whole experience
I didn’t have the food this time, but went in for happy hours cocktails. It’s COVID so we sat outside on the patio. Tables are far enough away and it wasn’t too crowded.
Nice to dogs! Thank you!!
Enjoyed everything from start to finish during lunch. The Burrata and Spicy Salmon were great starters and the Bone In Ribeye was excellent as well. Will definitely be returning for dinner.
Outdoor patio seating. All restaurant employees wore a mask. Waiter asked us to wear a mask when we were seated at the table while he was telling us about the lunch specials - I appreciated that and felt safe. Lunch prix fixe is a great deal!
Food was ok, not seasoned very well
My fiancé and I have not been out since our 7 month year old baby was born. It was a perfect date night. We sat outside because of the covid pandemic, and we felt very safe. Drinks were delicious, and same with the oysters and entrees.
I’m definitely going back. Loved the Mac and Cheese. Yummy. French toast was good. But what was really good was my husband’s Johnny Benedict. Cornbread instead of English muffin. It was really good. I’m getting that next time.
Horrible customer service ruins a dining experience.
Pasta with mussels drowning in olive oil. Very few mussels. Mixed greens dressing was a bit tangy. Burger was just OK. Previously enjoyed the food.
Good menu and quality of food. In a good part of DC and service was quick and friendly!
I had a wonderful experience at The Smith. The hostess took a while to seat us when we were the first to arrive at the restaurant but I presume it was because she wasn't ready to start work yet. Other than that the bathroom was clean, the food was great and our server was attentive. I would definitely come again.
Great brunch with the girls!
The food was just average. I was served and undercooked piece of catfish.
You need ranch and bbq sauce. They did not have any. Also steaks were not cooked properly
