   What can I say, so disappointed. From walking in to no staff anywhere, no one behind the bar, and the only staff member taking a tables order with the restaurant not being busy at all. When we eventually sat down no one came to take our order and we weren’t given any instruction when seated on how to order (was it waitress service or go to the bar). I therefore went to the bar 20/25 minutes later, a more senior member of staff was very apologetic at this point and swiftly came over to take our order. As the drinks came the waitress managed to tip 2 pints of Diet Coke over my daughter 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ the waitress was very apologetic but clearly very junior anr didn’t really know what to do, nor was there any other staff around to help her. We swapped tables, food came out, 3 x trio of Sunday roast had to wait a further 10 minutes for accompaniments - not really sure you could warrant that as a trio, hardly any meat, very salty uncooked leeks, and the meat we did get was very dry. My son’s rump steak, cut cooked as ordered but very chewy. I feel that there needs to be more leadership. It’s a nice establishment but I could get far better service and food elsewhere, very disappointing and won’t be returning.

   Beautiful pub set in the heart of Elswick, Lancashire. We visited on a Sunday afternoon as a party of 4 with two dogs. We were attended to immediately and shown to our pre-booked table in the conservatory, the ambience was bright and cheerful with a view of the beautiful garden, which is large with generous seating areas. Our drinks order was taken followed by our food and they brought a large ice and water bowl for the dogs. We all opted for the Sunday roast and between us covered all the different meat options and all were amazing. Two of our party were elderly and although not advertised when we asked if they could do a smaller portion roast for each of them, the reply was "absolutely". The food was amazing and there was nothing to fault. We all had a main and desert with one drink each, a bill for £101 represented excellent value for money and we will definitely return.

   the greeting was warm and welcoming the table service was bright and helpful.Showed our age by asking for a tomotoe juice with lea perin sauce waitress unsure checked with kitched nope dont have that we needed to go back to the70s lol Had two steaks with salad rather than chips very nicely presented steak was very good My partner stuck with the steak and ale pie and again was not dissapointed lovery pastery lashing of gravy Me i had the mixed grill and because I am chip mad could do with some extra chips but everything was very well cooked very tasty Overall a enjoyable experince

   Enjoyed midweek meal at the Ship. Given the option of where to sit and all the staff were friendly and helpful. We had the evening meals for £17.95 for 2 courses. Very good value. Food was nice. Only issue was my chicken snitzel dish was very dry. All the rest of the food was lovely.

   Service was pleasant, there was good ratio of staff to customers but service whilst initially was quick to get menus and drinks, it was slow for return to take the order, clear the table or ask if we wanted anything else. The food was very good however the prawn cocktail was not good value for the portion. The Sunday roast was very tasty but a moderate portion.

   Last minute reservation and greeted by lovely staff. It was a quiet Saturday night and the staff looked after us well. Food was tasty and decent portions. Entertainment was on and it was a lovely atmosphere, maybe a little bit loud at one point BUT me and my family loved the environment we where in.

   We have never been to The Ship before Sunday. The decor was lovely and the staff were friendly and attentive. We both had a roast and it was delicious. We will be returning.
