It was wonderful. Thank you for making my night memorable.
We were given a gift card so this was our first time at The Sea. We were greeted Happy Anniversary from arrival, when we were seated and throughout our meal by different staff members. Service was exceptional and led by our server Steven, who checked on us with each course.
The hamachi shooters were delicious. Steven told us to mix it throughly, then shoot it down, but it would not fall out of the glass. Plus, I would probably choke on the micro greens because it was quite a mouthful so we chose to use our appetizer forks.
Husband preferred that the grilled octopus be seasoned more and grilled longer so it would have a charred taste. Otherwise, there was no taste.
They served us a complimentary smoked(?) salmon sushi roll. It tasted ok.
The bread basket had 4 lobster cheddar biscuits, 4 furikake croissants and 2 seaweed crackers. The biscuits were rather dense so not much flavor, but the croissants tasted freshly baked and the crackers were interestingly good.
I ordered the seafood paella which had a wonderful flavor. I was surprised at first because literally the rice was one rice grain high, but the pan was pretty large (maybe 6”- 8”) so it ends up probably a 3/4 cup of rice. The shrimp, octopus, calamari, artichoke and chorizo covered the rice completely.
We have never had wagyu before so husband ordered the wagyu ribeye medium. The sauce that completely covered the ribeye was a little bitter. He would have preferred it was a glaze at the bottom of the plate or else on the side in a little dipping dish. Still, he enjoyed the meat, but next time, he’ll order it medium rare.
We shared the seasonal vegetables, which is more than enough for two, considering the large entree portion.
For dessert, we ordered the refreshingly yummy Pretty in Pink. You could taste the hint of lychee and guava.
The complimentary chocolate cake was light and perfect with my Nutella latte.
We already have reservations to go back with the family during the holidays.
Very good service. The apps and main course were excellent. Surprised us with some free sushi app and cotton candy to add to our dessert. Overall, prices were very high, but food quality and service warranted some of those costs. Charged extra for an ice-t refill, which was a little annoying. Offered a non-alcoholic raspberry mojito, which was great for the kiddo. Overall, a very good dinner, but would need to be a rare occasion for us based on prices. We had oysters, truffle fries, paella, cab filet mignon, and matcha bombe for dessert.
Disappointing. We reserved Friday evening for our anniversary. We were courteously greeted but it went downhill from there. We were seated in the small side room which we were ok with because of COVID protocols but the ambiance was much less appealing than the main room. We chose cocktails: the Watermelon Sugar, which was excellent and the Koi Pond which was poorly mixed and hard to drink.
We ordered the hamachi shots as an appetizer, the miso cod on lobster soboro and the grilled lobster as entrees. And as a lark, the truffle fries.
We were offered an amuse bouche but it was delivered and described so hurriedly by a server who immediately left that we had to ask our primary waiter for a second description. Both the amuse bouche and the bread course lacked freshness and were chilled as if they had been refrigerated for some time.
We shrugged this off and ordered glasses of Chardonnay in anticipation of our entrees. The wine arrived with the hamachi but one glass had multiple chunks of cork and was sent back.
The cod presentation was good. T he lobster was underwhelming, it was limp and artlessly arranged on the plate.
When we tried them the cod was tasty with a nice range of flavors and textures but the $75 lobster was awful. We tried bites from both ends and a small cut from the middle. It was overcooked, rubbery, and mostly tasteless. We called our waiter over to send it back after three bites. When I described it as overcooked and rubbery he responded that the lobster is boiled before being grilled and shruggingly said it can be hard to get it right on the grill! This left us with no confidence so we switched to a Japanese red snapper on cauliflower. In the meantime the replacement chardonnay arrived too cold to drink.
The cod was flaky at the edges but raw and gray in the middle leaving about 30% inedible.
Our waiter brought cotton candy but a fly landed in it as he set it down, which sort of summed up the night.
Excellent service and food.
Always the best seafood and steak in the Bay Area!
Lovely, upscale dining establishment with large attentive staff. For our party of 4, all main dishes were excellent; Chesapeake Black Sea Bass (special) and Miso Black Cod. Appetizers to share were outstanding: fresh Monterey Bay calamari (special); Hamachi Shots; fresh oysters on half shell. All in all a delightful evening. This is our fourth dining at The Sea, and we indeed shall return. Highly recommended.
Over-priced and very unimpressive; past its time and in need of a refresher
Great service, wonderful food. Outdoor patio is delightful
The restaurant is beautiful and the staff (waiter) were awesome! We were a bit disappointed in the prix fixe dinner and wine pairing. The sashimi was so small that we could barely taste it, the scallop was delicious, the black cod was missing in flavor. The wagyu had great flavor but was extremely chewy and impossible to eat. The wine pairing was great but the entire meal was rushed. I had to ask the waiter a couple times to slow down. I understand there are other customers but we barely had time to finish one course when the next course was being served. This was a special occasion and we were disappointed in the quality of the food.
We wish we didn’t have this experience because it is not representative of what we have had in the past. On the plus side, the staff we very nice and helpful. The selection is great. And, now for the bad. The premium dish was prepared ok, but at $225, it should be outstanding. Presentation was lacking, flavor was good, but overall, the plate looked like it had wilted. Lobster rice was over salted and over garliced. We asked for no truffle oil on the fries, we got truffle oil. This turned into a staff gaffe when they tried to convince us that it was parmesan cheese. They placed another order and there was no truffle oil this time. Fundamentally, overpriced for good, but not great, food.
The service was very nice, waiter and waitresses were very helpful they attend all our need and they reminded us about the anniversary every chance they had.
Also food was great and the chef's complements were hmmm delicious!
We always go to an Alexander's for our anniversaries and it never disappoints. The service is world class, the food is a culinary delight and the drinks are just amazing. Thank you for always making our anniversary special, we will see you next year!
A premier meal at a premier establishment. Hamachi shots were delicious as were the lobster ricks which really blew me away with the tender lobster inside the lightly fried exterior. Delicious flight of Wagyu beef followed as did an exquisite rockfish. Wrapped with an amazing Nutella espresso and Michu donuts with a complimentary piece of birthday cake to celebrate. The only blemish is my opinion on dollar value which most high end places will never achieve. Food should not be this pricey. Ever.
They are trying with a NUMBER of original dishes on the menu. Unfortunately, some disappoint. The squid ink tempura lobster "rocks" are interesting, and "ok" but not great. The lobster fried rice was not worth taking home. The Wagyu steak was quite good and well prepared. The service was outstanding. However, our bill was $700 for three and not worth that kind of price.
Great food and excellent waiter staff in a beautiful patio setting.
Great food and service. We had a good time celebrating my husband’s birthday.
Place was Beautiful, All the Staff were friendly and attentive. All the dishes and drinks were excellent.
Our server was amazing. We celebrated a special occasion and they went all out for us. This place is pricey but well worth it. Will absolutely come here again for another occasion.
Overall, great as usual! Maria, our server, was so kind and professional. Greeted us with a happy anniversary, Comp champagne and through knowledge of the menu. Ate outdoors so it was quiet, spaced out and nice. Everything was timely, nothing but great service. Highly recommend the Miso Cod and ribeye cut of beef!
The food was not that great for the prices they were. The seafood dishes were smelly. And to top it off, I had abs upset stomach shortly after. Pretty disappointing experience for a family dinner for my wife’s birthday.
Foods are good and service is definitely 5 stars!
Everything was amazing. The staff took really good care of us and treated us with extras for our anniversary.
We had a very elegant and quiet outdoor dining experience. We opted for the tasting menu in order to try a variety of different dishes. To fully appreciate the meal, one must take in both the visual and taste of each dish which has many different components. Though it was an expensive meal, it was worth it when one considers how much work and how many different ingredients were in each dish. A great place for a special occasion.
My Wife and I came here for our Anniversary and enjoyed the experience. I thought the food was delicious - gotta try the hamachi shots! Portions and price were as expected for a $$$$ restaurant. I didn't mind it cause it wasn't about that that night, it was about having a wonderful dinner with my wife. Staff was also friendly and attentative.
Wonderful as always.
Classy and elegant
A great place for a special occasion. Outdoor dining, quiet atmosphere.
My wife and I did the tasting menu, 4 courses plus dessert. Just the right amount of food. Well prepared and flavor full sea food. Our favorite was the snapper appetizer and cod.
Service was attentive.
Plan to come back again.
Attentive service and excellent food!
Amazing! Flavor explosion.
We came here to celebrate my mom’s 60th birthday & it was a great experience!
Fantastic dining experience. Would highly recommend to anyone celebrating a special occasion.
Exquisite! Will return again.
Awesome food and service! Outdoor dining made us feel so comfortable! The food was amazing and service is always top notch! Alexander’s never disappoints!
Perfect balance on flavors and wonderful desserts!
