It was an awesome experience. Everything about it was excellent
The Savoy is genuinely a special place to go for dinners, particularly special occasions. We started going to the Savoy at least 40 years ago and obviously things have changed over the years, but it still has the same feel. The Thanksgiving menu is a little different than regular dinners, but it was fun to see all of the happy friends and families together and the food was excellent, service was great, so it was a special night.
Hi James - we're ecstatic to hear that you enjoyed the Thanksgiving dinner that our team worked so hard to put on the table. It was truly our pleasure. We hope you'll join us on another evening soon to see what we can do on any given night. Cheers, Scott F&B Director stipton@thesavoykc
The Savoy did a good job providing a wide array of vegetables for Thanksgiving and the server was very friendly.
Hi Kurt, Glad to hear you enjoyed the Thanksgiving spread overall. We tried to put as much food as we could fit on the table for everyone to enjoy. Please come back and see us again sometime when you can. Best, Scott F&B Director stipton@thesavoykc
Stellar Thanksgiving Menu -- good offerings, excellent service, never felt rushed, lovely ambiance.
Thanks for joining us to celebrate your holiday! Glad we could provide a nice, calm experience full of amazing food. Hope to see you again! Best, Scott F&B Director stipton@thesavoykc
Thanksgiving dinner at the Savoy seemed to be a training experience for most of their servers.
While water glasses were filled frequently, the idea of utensils, salt and pepper, earl grey tea, cream for the coffee, etc did not cross their minds until requested.
The restaurant was not busy (3 other tables at noon) so it wasn’t that they were over booked.
The kitchen is down the hall from the dinning area. Food was warm but not hot when it arrived. The staff was unable to heat the apple pie for dessert.
The Savoy used to be a stellar dinning experience.
The food was plentiful and tasty. Side dishes were served family style for this 3 course Prix Fixe meal. They offered a wide variety of choices.
The restaurant is located within the trendy 21C downtown hotel/art gallery. Unfortunately the art was deeply disturbing to me. However, I understand evoking emotion can be the point. Just not at Thanksgiving thank you.
The dinning room remains stuck in the past. While I respect the history of this establishment, updates are needed.
Thank you for choosing to join us at the Savoy on a holiday, and for taking the time you relay your perceptions. We apologize if a couple of steps were missed along the way. We are more than happy to bring salt and pepper upon request, as well as anything else you might need. The food we served on Thanksgiving was definitely intended to be hot, and I'm disappointed to hear that your experience didn't meet that same standard. The kitchen is directly behind the dining room. Best, Scott
This is a classic restaurant revitalized by 21c Hotels. The traditional ambiance of the booths is wonderful . We were lucky and got the one President Truman always used. The service was excellent, and all the staff was cheerful, even if it was Thanksgiving.
The food was very good, with some interesting twists to cranberry sauce and the escargot tortellini . Serving sizes very good, not huge like some places. Turkey moist and tender, prime rib perfectly done, and tender, not too much fat. The only comment would be the tortellini could have been a bit warmer.
Great breads from local Ibis Bakery, which is best in town.
Thanks for joining us, and we've made the note about the tortellini. It's usually TOO hot when it comes to the table, so apologies if we missed that mark on your experience. Hope you'll come see us again soon, and experience the Savoy on a non-holiday evening, or for lunch, as well. Best, Scott F&B Director stipton@thesavoykc
Pre-thanksgiving with family
Glad to see it was a 5 star success all around! Let's do it again sometime. Best, Scott F&B Director stipton@thesavoykc
Food was great and the service was better then expected.
Thanks for joining us and for the overwhelmingly positive review! Best, Scott F&B Director stipton@thesavoykc
Food was not good! Very limited options for a supposed high end restaurant it was meh! The open face frittata was blah, their smoked salon bagel was meh their drinks were fine. Our service was good but it’s not worth going there.
Service was slow, over 30 minutes to get food after we ordered; the manager apologized and offered to buy a drink; we order a drink and were charged for it. Menu is very odd, and the blue cotton candy dessert was even more odd. Looks like all the renovation money went into the hotel, not the restaurant. Metal tables and cheap chairs. Really disappointed in our entire experience.
Unfortunate to hear about your experience. Please reach out if you'd like to discuss in more detail, and hear more feedback on what made the menu odd to you. We do have some chair upgrades that have been in production for a few months that will be ready in a couple of weeks, as well as some renovations to create more Lounge seating. But, the food and drink and service are something we take a lot of pride in being able to serve in a 120 year old room. Best, Scott stipton@thesavoykc
Attention to the table and service was slow. We waited 15-20 from time we sat down to initial contact with waiter. Food was excellent.
Hi Maureen, Not sure what happened that would result in 15-20 minutes, as our standard is 30 seconds and it's a pretty small room. Are you sure you were at the Savoy? Don't hesitate to provide more feedback on your experience. Scott F&B Director stipton@thesavoykc
It was nice to be back in the original dining room/bar area. The tables and chairs look very temporary - sort of like a wedding reception. The food was very good and the service was good. Main criticism is regarding the wine list which seemed to be "sold out" of any red wine under $100.
Hi Thomas, We have updated our wine list and needed to move through some selections to make room for new ones. We have plenty of wines under $100, and are happy to help you make selections if you inquire. Hope you'll join us again soon. Best, Scott F&B Director stipton@thesavoykc
Excellent food and service! Great experience! Would recommend.
Bar only not restaurant. Food was not great and the prices were high.
We'd be interested to hear more details on what dishes you had at the bar that you did not enjoy, and where the Service and Value fell short as well. Scott F&B Director stipton@thesavoykc
Excellent service. Food was outstanding! Love the atmosphere.
Thanks for the fantastic review! Happy we were able to deliver a top notch experience. Come see us again soon and we'll do it all over again! Best, Scott F&B Director stipton@thesavoykc
Food, service, and ambiance was unchanged from 35 years ago upon our last visit!
Thanks for stopping in, and happy to hear you appreciated the historic space and that the food and service were on point. See ya again soon! Best, Scott F&B Director stipton@thesavoykc
The bacon wrapped stuffed cherry peppers are excellent, they are only on the bar menu so if your at a table just ask your server. You won’t be disappointed.
Good advice! We can definitely accommodate all menus at any seat in the Savoy. The tricky part is how to stop eating them once you've popped one. Cheers, Scott F&B Director stipton@thesavoykc
Food was very good. Only issue was Prime Rib was too salty!
Sorry to hear if we had a heavy hand in seasoning the prime rib on your visit. The seasoning is definitely one of the key parts to the flavor of that Prime. Next time just let us know so we can replace it if we have another cut in house that may seasoned less. Thanks for joining us! Best, Scott F&B Director stipton@thesavoykc
The lamb dish was fantastic. Everything was wonderful.
So glad you enjoyed the Lamb, and experience as a whole! Hope you join us again soon to try the rest of the amazing menu this winter. Best, Scott Food & Beverage Director stipton@thesavoykc
Our first return in 20 years on June 5, 2019 was fabulous. So I decided to take my Veteran Husband there for breakfast on Veterans Day. It was horrible. I asked the Manager to look at my plate and she didn't see anything wrong with my meal. The bacon was way undercooked and the potatoes were overcooked. She did offer to take off the bill, but I asked our coffee and tea be taken off and she did. I was so disappointed. The Chef was off his game that day and wouldn't recommend to family or friends as I would be afraid it would be an off day for the Chef and it would be terrible.
Never to return
Hi Lili, This is not the experience we strive to provide. Please reach out to me with any further details and so we can discuss an opportunity to try again, to recreate the fabulous experience you had in June and that our guests enjoy every day and night. That's our goal. Best, Scott Food & Beverage Director stipton@thesavoykc
The cuisine is very good, value for quality moderate as some items seem very expensive all things considered. I want to like this place more, but the room is problematic. It seems somehow improvised, the rectangular tables and banquet-style chairs don't "fit" with the arts & crafts / early 20th century decor, which should be featured or enhanced in a way that it isn't. For a hotel (the 21c) that's so self-consciously designed, the restaurant seems to have been given short shrift. Restaurants attached to other 21c museum hotels are much more successful ambiance and decor-wise (Louisville, Cincinnati, Bentonville all good examples of how well it can be done). The booths, that seem original to the vintage building, seem appropriate, but this is a room that begs for round tables consistent with the period of the structure. It's a warmer tone that's needed. It could be a comfortable space, but it's not.
Hey, Thanks for the thoughts and feedback. We rushed to move things into the original Savoy space from our contemporary dining room opening, and have some exciting new furniture, chairs and tables included, coming in the next few weeks. Stay tuned and please give us another shot to hit all the marks - food, service, AND ambiance. Please reach out so I can assist if you do join us again. Best, Scott Food & Beverage Director stipton@thesavoykc
In town for my daughters wedding so we stayed at the hotel onsite -we ordered 4-5 different things on the brunch menu and every bite was DIVINE and I never like anywhere we eat.
The croque madam and the bananas foster French toast is utterly amazing - cool environment
Congratulations to your daughter! Thank you for letting us be your home-away-from-home for such a special occasion. We can't wait to celebrate your feedback with our team and are so very delighted that every bite was divine. Please know we will absolutely be looking forward to your next visit and hope to see you soon! Best, Scott F&B Director
It seems like the Savoy at 21c is trying to be too many things. It would be great if instead of serving over the top menu items, they stuck to the classics. The atmosphere is so classic KC. I was disappointed that the menu wasn't.
I was very disappointed with what I ordered. The cioppino didn't have any fish in it, mostly potatoes. And the escargot wrapped in pasta lacked flavor. I would give it another chance but hoping for more straight forward menu items.
Thanks for joining us, and for providing your feedback. We like to keep a lot of things classic, but also utilize our Chefs' talents to present a new era of food. The cioppino should have provided hearty seafood bites, and the escargot tortellini is a house staple that usually bursts with flavor. Please reach out if there is a specific dish you're looking for, and we'll make it happen. Best, Scott Food & Beverage Director stipton@thesavoykc
We have wanted to try the savoy since they reopened. It’s a very different experience than the former savoy. It’s very eclectic and trendy. The decor remains dark and historic very nicely redone We went on a week night. The menu was limited with a more fine dining feel . One steak option one seafood option. For appetizers I had the escargot tortalinna. No desert options. It was nice to see the old place still living but we probably won’t return.
Hey there, Glad you enjoyed the historic vibe we're maintaining. The menu updates on a regular basis to provide exciting, fresh, and innovative options in addition to throwback dishes to the days of yesteryear. We will always have steak and seafood options, and the menu has always had multiple options of each. We have an amazingly talented pastry chef with great dessert options. Apologies if this got missed on your visit somehow. Best, Scott Food & Beverage Director stipton@thesavoykc
This was our first time having lunch as we had been to dinner twice before and first time that the food service was moved to the old Savoy space. Truly underwhelmed by the lunch offerings
We will work hard to earn those remaining stars, KCDuchess. Our menu does change frequently and we hope to wow you at your next visit. We will look forward to your return to The Savoy! Best, Scott F&B Director
The dinner at The Savoy was the centerpiece of a weekend getaway in KC - a first visit for my wife and me. The Arts and Crafts decor was a treat, as was the whole building (save time for a walk-through of the art on exhibit). The food was inventive, with great attention paid to flavors. The menu is not large, but anyone should be able to find an exciting appetizer and main course. The wine list has some real gems. We found a beautiful Burgundy that matched the meal perfectly. Compliments to the chef and to the excellent wait staff.
We are so very happy that you and your wife enjoyed your weekend getaway in KC! Thank you for the compliments to the chef and our teammates. We can't wait to share your review with them. We will absolutely look forward to your next visit and hope you will be back for many happy returns! -Laura Elwyn, Corporate Guest Experience Manager
We came for breakfast prior to leaving for a football game. The service was slow, food was underwhelming and over priced. Items were served cold or barely warm.
Thank you for dining with us and for sharing this feedback. We are so very sorry that your pre-game breakfast was unsatisfactory and disappointing. I know we can do better and hope you'll give us another try. Best, Scott F&B Director
Food was great. We found the ambiance to be very cold and odd. It was not cozy and romantic.
We are so very happy to see that you enjoyed the food, Anonymous. We appreciate your feedback and will look forward to your return! Best, Scott F&B Director
Mediocre at best. Menu and portion size are very small and limited. Wine list was at best 50% sold out. Booth (we sat at Truman’s booth) and tables are very small. Chairs and tables looks out of place or an after-thought!! Service was informative upon arrival but disappeared as the restaurant got busy. Complementary desserts were appreciated. Very ingenious but poor execution as they were not very tasteful. Overall a wasted dining experience.
Hi Julian, Thanks for checking us out. You're correct that we're updating our wine menu and selling out of options in order to make room for exciting new ones. We still have PLENTY of amazing wines available we'd love to tell you more about. The tables and chairs are carry over from the contemporary dining room we opened with, and we've recently installed 16 new chairs, and have another 60 in production to provide a more comfortable dining experience. Hope you'll give us another shot.
Outstanding entrees and service. Could not have asked for a better dining experience. Highly recommended.
Nick was an excellent waiter and helped us choose an outstanding meal. Chef is quite creative and kitchen staff makes excellent presentation of the food.
Thank you so very much, jwgfoodie! We sincerely appreciate the kudos and can't wait to share your comments with Nick and our chef team. We will look forward to your return and hope to see you soon! Best, Scott F&B Director
I’m sorry but the atmosphere was way too dark and old looking. I appreciate authentic but it was not welcoming.
Thank you for your feedback, Anonymous. We hope you'll dine with us again and hope to see you soon. Best, Scott F&B Director
Limited menu but food was very good.
Glad you enjoyed the bites! Our menu evolves quite often, so if there's something specific you were looking for we hope you'll keep checking back or let us know and we'll see what we can do to accommodate. Best, Scott F&B Director stipton@thesavoykc
What a unique restaurant! Was unaware of the museum aspect. Food and service was absolutely wonderful. Highly recommend.
We are delighted that you enjoyed our restaurant and museum, Cindy! We are so happy to see that food and service were so very wonderful and we will look forward to your next visit with us. -The Savoy at 21c
The Savoy has a nice vibe. We got there early, checked in, and had some drinks in a nice little seating area, but the hostess marked us off and forgot about us. My husband had to get up and say something finally. The wait staff was great though. Food came out quick. It was overpriced for what you got, but it was good. The Northside and Southside drinkks were good. Been there, done that, probably won't go back.
Thank you for dining with us, Patti. We are terribly sorry for the seating snafu. We sincerely appreciate you sharing this detail with us so that we can address this with our team. We are happy to see that otherwise, the wait staff was great and that you enjoyed the food and drinks. We sincerely hope you'll be back as our menu and art does change periodically and there's always something new to enjoy! -The Savoy at 21c
This is not the Savoy of old. If you go there looking for a variety of steaks in the traditional sense you will be disappointed. One strip steak offering and some prime rib, which was good. The portions are adequate but the “sides to share” insulting. The bar menu probably a strength but my request for two fingers of a local bourbon “up” was a weak pour. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you for dining with us, Anonymous. We sincerely appreciate your feedback and will look forward to the next opportunity with which to serve you. -The Savoy at 21c
had the 8 oz prime rib rare - perfect!
pavlova - excellent!
Thank you for reviewing us, Thomas! We are so happy to see you enjoyed the prime rib and pavlova! We will absolutely look forward to your next visit and hope you'll be back with us again soon. -The Savoy at 21c
Dark room. Limited menu. Expensive. Small portions. Food very average. Original waiter rude. Trainee who took over was fine. Advertised happy hour consisted of four drinks reduced from $12 to $8. Overall disappointing. Would not return.
We are so very sorry to see that you were disappointed with your visit, daves. We hope you'll give us another try sometime as I know we can wow you with our hospitality and services. Again, we are very sorry and do appreciate your feedback as we will use it to make the necessary improvements. -The Savoy at 21c
Very nice atmosphere , great service, recommended and described dinner options. Greatly enjoyed !
Thank you for dining with us, Jennie and for sharing your experience. We are so thrilled to see that you greatly enjoyed dinner with us and we will look forward to your return! -The Savoy at 21c
I have earned 16,500 Open Table points. I traveled and ate all over the world from Hong Kong, Singapore, Beijing, Milan, Paris, London , Frankfurt, Rome, Sicily. We went to Savoy 21 today for brunch. The coffee was horrible. It was tasteless, bland and oily. We ordered the steak and egg, the steak portion was really pathetic. We also ordered the Fried Rice. It was very SOUR and SALTY. They redid it but it was still very sour and salty. Not worth it really.
Another great meal with impeccable service! Everything from the drinks, amuse-bouche, entrees and especially the service reflect the excellence that is The Savoy.
So glad to see that you had another great meal with us, John and that everything was a reflection of excellence! We can't wait to celebrate your service comment with our team. -The Savoy at 21c
