A culinary adventure in modern fine-dining.

The Williamsburg Inn is pleased to present the Rockefeller Room, the crown jewel of Abby and John D. Rockefeller Jr.’s home away from home. The featured menu is a five-course prix-fixe menu with available wine pairings from the Inn’s world class cellar. We are delighted to offer the finest and most luxurious ingredients from local watermen, farmers, and worldly artisans.

The Rockefeller’s revered opulence, therefore, we developed our menu to offer an evening filled with extravagance. Familiar flavors paired with southern hospitality reflect the soul of our story, history, and the melting pot of ingredients brought to our country from its inception.

Before we begin, we may be limited in our ability to modify our menu, especially for severe allium and dairy allergies. However, with advance notice, we will be happy to accommodate any allergy with customized menu adjustments.

This is a beautiful, quiet, traditional restaurant. The service was excellent, Sharon was friendly and attentive. The ambiance is old school with tables spaced apart leading to private conversation. The food was hit and miss. We had a 5 course prix fixed meal with the wine tastings. Our immediate concern was the minimal $58 charge for wine with each course. This did not leave us with confidence the wines would be of any quality, they weren’t. The first course of consommé I liked, my husband didn’t. The second course was a fried duck egg with pimento cheese- it was ok, not much flavor. The third course was our best, a scallop with a corn bread and Lima beans. Great flavor and combination of textures. The main course was a disaster for me - undercooked salmon with small potatoes and peas floating!! In a watered down tomato soup(couldn’t possibly be called a sauce). Ugh… my husband loved the braised beef. The dessert cheese plate was a fitting finale to a mediocre dinner. Who serves tomatoes as a dessert?? So many wonderful choices for crackers and we were served lavash ? Again, a beautiful setting- maybe they will hire a more sophisticated chef or a leadership team who can deliver.

I was expecting much more from our experience. The servers were very nice and the gifts at the end were just lovely! The food left much to be desired, however. The fish had zero taste! No salt, no seasoning, no nuthin. The amuse bouche was not amusing my bouche! (A fermented quail egg on kimchi.) Not good! I will not be going to the Rockefeller Room again, sadly. I think the Terrace Room has been a better experience on the past.

Having historically dined & appreciated the former Regency Room dining experience, food & staff, our Rockefeller Room experience was disappointing. Although less than half of the tables were occupied, the service was profoundly slow with way too much time between courses. As for the food, one of our entrees was just ok. The other was tiny & tasteless. We love the Williamsburg Inn but the food & service in the Terrace Room was actually superior. Our overall dining experience did not match the expense or time devoted to it. Sorry to say I’m not sure we will return to the Rockefeller Room.

Food, atmosphere, setting were all wonderful. Majority of the staff were friendly and efficient. Our server, however, was not. We were seated over 20 minutes before she approached our table, then said "I saw you come in a couple of minutes ago". There was no apology, and she didn't seem to care. The rest of the night was the same, and she didn't seem to know or understand the menu as a server should when we asked questions. She bordered on rude. A lovely evening tainted by someone who should not be serving in a fine dining establishment.

Outstanding in every aspect; It is an evening commitment because you need time to appreciate the food and the time it takes to prepare. The wine paring was also special and added to the experience. Service is extraordinary, as it should be - Stephan our server, and Laura our wonderful young intern from abroad were very attentive, informed and engaging. Music by Travis Colby was perfect - selections, and volume were perfect. As always - well done. The 5 course pre-fixe menu is a considerable amount of food. The Inn might consider going back to a 3 course which would be appreciated.

If you and your loved one are interested in a dining experience you'll never forget, the 5 course dinner at The Rockefeller Room is just the place. Each course is skillfully selected and prepared with the upmost attention to detail. The blending of flavors and attention to the time between servings allows one to savor the love put into each course. Some of the courses have choices, others are complimentary to the whole dining experience...And the service! Having traveled the world, our servers were the most informed, graceful, and engaging of any we have experienced. Pricy, but well worth it! Bona petite!

The room was exquisitely set; the servers were attentive and unobtrusive; the food was beyond belief; the wine was explained by the wine maker himself. Absolutely outstanding! The very definition of hospitality and professionalism. If you can imagine what it's like to be served as a president or head of state, this would probably be it. Each of the five courses was a 10 out of 10. Our family of 4 is GF and DF. The staff was not only accommodating but they were to be HAPPY to be accommodating. The chef de cuisine and pastry chef came out to the table at the end to thank us for coming.

As a global traveler I have been afforded the opportunities to dine at amazing restaurants and could not pass up the opportunity to review the Rockefeller Room which is an exceptional dining experience on so many levels. The occasion was special to celebrating my pending retirement and my brother-in-law’s 76th birthday. It was a delightful and memorable evening with true Southern hospitality one would expect from this stunning Williamsburg Inn restaurant. We were warmly welcomed and offered a prosecco toast to our celebrations as we chatted. Next came an Amuse Bouche and breadbasket while we perused the menu. Our server, Karen was professional, personable and knowledgeable and expertly guided us through the five-course prix-fixe menu with luxurious ingredients from local watermen and farmers. Each course was artfully prepared with delicious and interesting flavors. There are multiple selections for each course such as Roasted Oysters topped with a lemon sabayon as a first course choice, to a farmer's salad with this astounding deviled duck egg, a duck pastrami third course, impersonating as a classic Reuben sandwich. The main course selections were a difficult choice from Wagyu Ribeye to Pheasant Saltimbocca. Couldn’t pass on the rib eye which was perfection. The wine pairings with each course were fantastic and will now be added to our list of favorite wines. We finished dinner with Hazelnut Ice-Cream Torte and various confections. The chef, Julianne Gutierrez, provided us with a true culinary experience while our wait staff of Karen, Kay and Austin provided service on another level. While the chef inspired dishes were truly amazing, it was truly the staff, professional service, and the opulent ambience that set Rockefeller Room as a fine dining crown jewel. We will definitely be going back.

Clearly a special location, opulent decor, exquisite furnishings. Just the palace for a romantic birthday dinner with my wife. The menuis a 5-course prix-fixe' menu, and is definitively not inexpensive. Chef Julie certainly knows her craft. The highlight was actually the third course, the Duck Pastrami. It was an immensely intriguing melange of flavors, very creative! We were put off by the parsimonious approach of the serving staff to the final course of the meal, limiting the serving to just 1 glass of wine. The other 4 courses were properly paired with both selection and quantity of wine. The much larger last course, however, retained the single glass of wine, but certainly deserved more. What's worse is that the staff knew I was out, and made obvious arrangements to be elsewhere until I finished my lamb. This actual PLOTTING to not be of service was a serious disappointment. I didn't think the Rockefeller Room was in the business of serving disappointment.

We had a beautiful dinner here on 6/10/123. The room is beautifully decorated. The wait staff was very attentive and well versed in describing each course. The food was excellent. Overall, we loved the experience. We ordered the wine pairing along with the Prix Fixe menu $128 per person plus $58 per person for wine pairing. Our overall bill came to about $475 for 2 people. While we loved it, this price point will keep us away from doing this again for a long while. I would recommend it for a very special occasion.

First, the good news. After several days of back and forth with the management, they finally agreed to comp our entire meal--nearly $800 with a tip for four people. Our server was delightful. The room itself is great--a throwback to another era of fine dining. Now for the bad news. While presenting itself as a fine dining establishment, this restaurant comes up more than short on assuring that its guests have a relaxed and refined experience. As the senior management acknowledges, they do not have a policy regarding cell phone use--even when a guest uses a speaker phone at full volume so that everyone in the restaurant can hear the conversation. Two guests halfway across the restaurant had at least three phone calls during dinner--the last one on speaker phone. Not once did a staff member ask that they take their calls outside. Finally, when the speakerphone call occurred, I asked these guests to please take the call outside. Those guests reacted badly to my request and refused to end the call. I complained to the manager on duty, who went to great lengths to explain that they could do nothing. Two days later, the Director of Restaurants for the property told me the same thing. I was admonished for approaching the other guests and told I had ruined their dining experience. That strikes me as a moral equivalency at best--gaslighting at worst. I realize that times have changed. But I never take a call at the table in a restaurant. That evening I excused myself to take a call outside. To do anything else would have been inconsiderate. But perhaps things are slow at the Rockefeller Room these days, and they are desperate for anyone willing to pay $125 per person for dinner.

We waited for the bartender in the lounge to acknowledge us. She wouldn't even look up to say it will be a minute. There was no cocktail wait staff. It took 15 minutes of standing in a not busy bar to get a glass of wine and mixed drink, house brands and $45. We we not even given a napkin. Service in the dining room was better, but hardly stellar. Food was very good, but the lack of great service, given the pricey meal and drinks, left us very disappointed. We will not return.

Elegant, next level cuisine comes to your table in 5 delightful courses, plus an Amuse Bouche and bread basket with the most tender brioche ever. While there is only one choice for the salad course, the others have thee choices each. You will be delighted whatever you order. We especially loved the Tuna Tartare, Fried Green Tomatoes and Rack of Lamb. Each dish was garnished with edible flowers in celebration of spring. Each dish was also of a size that let you savor the food, but still have room for the next course. The wine pairings with each course where spot on, enhancing each dish they were selected to accompany. The dessert was so good and the presentation gave us a beautiful finish to an exceptional meal. The Inn is Michelin 3 Star, hands down. Do be prepared for a pretty hefty check at the end of the meal, but it’s worth every penny.

We’ve been trying to visit The Rockefeller Room for 4 years while our son attended William & Mary College but thanks to the pandemic it never happened. The Rockefeller Room is NOT opened most nights so you really have to plan ahead and get your reservation weeks before your trip because they fill up. Our 3-course meal was delicious and impressive. The service was perfect. I loved the ambiance most of all — very high-end, luxurious dinning. Of course, all of that is reflected in the price. The three course, price-fixed meal was $186 per person before drinks, tax and tip. It was a $600 experience but so happy we finally got to do it.

It was a special evening for us, as we were celebrating our anniversary. The ambience was perfect, but service was slow in spite of only a few tables occupied. We were there almost 25 minutes before we received our cocktails. The menu offered a 5-course pre-fixe meal and no alternative. At first that sounded like a lovely idea, but as it turned out, some of the food was not to our liking. And a few items were ill-prepared. Apparently the chef was not checking for quality as courses were served. We were allowed to chose our own wine and enjoyed that. Because of our personal occasion, we made the most of the evening. Considering the cost, we are not likely to return anytime soon, unless the chef or the menu changes. The restaurant is definitely not the one it was before the pandemic. But, of course, most aren't.

We had a disappointing experience. The entrees in particular were really subpar and the meal was not worth $340 we paid. Mind you that was without wine! We ordered the lamb and poached salmon. The lamb was tough, lacked flavor and was quite fatty. The poached salmon was not flavorful and served in a bowl with a tomato broth. Who does that? Why? The place needs a facelift as the appearance is not the opulent place that they are advertising. This restaurant is overhyped. Please save your money. You can do better in Williamsburg particularly for the prices that they are asking.

We have been here many times. We will be happier when you get a menu that is something different than a five course
