The Puffing Billy is located in the beautiful village of Exton on the east side of the Exe estuary.

We offer a dynamic, seasonal menu of locally sourced produce inside a cosy, recently revamped stylish interior. We change our menus regularly and have a daily changing specials board utilising local produce. On Sundays we offer a superb selection of roast dinners.

We have 3 sections of the restaurant and depending on number of guests can cater for your needs. 10-30 is easily achievable as long as it is pre-ordered. Then whole pub hire (80+) to just the restaurant (50+), can be done with discussions with management. Look at our gallery for options on what you need.

Having eaten at the Puffing Billy before I expected good things, but I have to confess to being a bit disappointed. We booked for 6pm knowing that their quiz started at 7pm. It was a Friday and we had expected it to be busy but it was surprisingly quiet. Which isnt a problem. However, it still took nearly 45 minutes for our food to arrive. My husband and I had burgers and I was disapponted that it came with no garnish apart for a little pot of coleslaw. I had expected more I guess, and certainly better presentation. It tasted fine, it just wasn't the standard of presentation I remember from previous visits. The dessert, though delicious took AGES to order and again, a while to arrive. Which surprised me as I don't think there were more than 5 other tables occupied that evening and I guess I just expected quicker, more attentive service. It might be because the quiz was on? I don't know. We did dinthw quiz, which started pretty late but did have great questions and the girl running it had done a great job organising, but it was a weird ambience as the quiz was in the main area of rhe bar, meaning it was a weird throughfare. Overall, it was ok, but not what I would have expected for a Friday night and def not what I have experienced before. I'm not sure if I felt it represented the best value for money considering how much the evening cost 4 of us overall.

Food took 1hr 30 minutes to arrive, with limited updates provided by the staff on the situation…when it finally came, the food was sadly very bland. Manager was very apologetic and reduced the bill which was appreciated, but sadly we won’t be returning here.

Very good experience, shame there were only a few zero alcohol choices. Sunday lunch was very good

We enjoyed our recent meal at the Puffing Billy. The service was good, the starters and main course were well presented and tasted delicious. The crockery, cutlery and glasses were of a good quality. Would book again.

Usually fantastic but service slow and ambience in Restaurant not so good as usual. Could be because waiters going between restaurant and garden
