We went on a date to this place and its was one of the memorable ones. Scrumptious food. Amazing cocktails. For cocktails we tried the one punch man and scotch and crackers (him) and the kurasaki and the swarm (her). The cocktails were great, complex and subtle flavors in perfect harmony. The swarm is spirit forward, for people who love a martini, this will be a welcome twist. Every dish we tried was a win. The masa dumplings and the verde sausage were the extremely good. The squash and ricotta pasta was a blend of ingredients creating something so great! The halibut crudo was to die for. The world peace milk is our favorite. Definitely plan to go again and take friends too.

Server had an attitude the minute he sat down. We had a 4 year old guest who was served a lemonade in a tall glass which was subsequently spilled. If looks could kill…Needless to say, we won’t be coming back.

Our dinner at The Progress was very good. None of the dishes were culinary revelations, but there were several that were excellent nonetheless. Highlights were the Fried Green Tomatoes and Pork Chop. The Duck was also very good. Service was responsive and helpful, particularly the sommelier, who was very attentive to our needs. The one nit I would pick was with the extensive wine list. Out of what must have been hundreds of wines, there almost none under $100, esp. no Cabs or Bordeaux. I found this very. disappointing, given that the restaurant is less than 50 miles from wine country and I can't believe that the restaurant was incapable of finding some good $25 cabernets to mark up to $70-75. We ordered a Rioja for $105 that we had to send back because all it had was a gravel finish with nothing else going on and clearly not worth anywhere close to the price. The sommelier was very accomodating and brought us another wine, this time for $114, which was much better and opened up nicely. Message to the restaurant: You can do better on finding good Reds for $75-80 that still yield you a nice margin. Overall a very pleasant experience if a bit pricey for what was served (duck was $80).

One of my favorite restaurants in all of San Francisco. The menu is constantly changing, and the service and atmosphere are sophisticated without being pretentious.
