For outdoor reservations we are currently booking for both our cabanas and sidewalk tables, reservations will be seated on a first come first-served basis. Any reservation listed with "Standard Seating" will be indoors.

Due to limited space and for the safety of all, we ask our guests to dine within the following time frames:
1-3 guests - up to 1 hour and 30 minutes
4-6 guests - up to 2 hours

Tables will be held for 15 minutes after the reservation time, at which point we will make the table available to our waitlist. Keep in mind that you will be dining outdoors and will be subject to San Francisco weather changes, so please dress accordingly.

In order to best take care of our guests and team we ask everyone to keep masks on while not actively eating or drinking. If you are feeling less than your best we do ask that you reach out about your reservation, we will gladly find a time to reschedule!

This was my first time eating indoors since restaurants opened back up partially in San Francisco. The ambiance was lovely and everything felt very Covid-friendly. Even though I expected to receive the traditional State Bird menu, the experience of having the best menu options from both The Progress and State Bird was still exceptional. The food was cooked perfectly, the waiter was friendly and accommodating. Will definitely come again!

Our dinner was outstanding - the duck, the cod - we may have ordered everything on the menu ;) Have eaten here several times in the "before times". We all agreed, however, that the waitstaff should coordinate with one another so that when bringing fresh plates (appreciated/changed often) more water or bringing the next dish, it would be a vastly enhanced dining experience if they were to do multiple things at once so that diners don't have to stop talking/eating/put masks back on/take them off over and over and over. The food comes out in dribs and drabs, not all at once, so that makes for lots of table approaches. The experience would be improved with 1/2 as many interruptions.

Love it. One of my favorite places to eat in SF, always! I don't know one person who has eaten here and not liked it! Amazing flavor combos, best staff, impeccable service, the list goes on and on. You will not be disappointed and ALWAYS save room for dessert!

The Progress/State Bird combination is really great - the food is creative and incredibly excellent. Service was great. The outside seating is (obviously) healthy and the way to go, but a few more heat lamps would be great. Overall an excellent experience and I would recommend it and go back again!

I have been here for dinner in the past so when I heard they were opening for brunch I knew I had to stop in and it was the best decision I made. The food was outstanding and they built out private booths for COVID-friendly dining so all around it was a great experience.

We hard party of 4. We shared the BBQ duck, quail, ranch beef. Everything tasted great. Our server was very attentive, came by to check on us frequently. We sat inside. It felt very safe. People had masks and distanced very well. Overall, a very good experience.

I love State Bird- probably my favorite restaurant in SF... maybe all time, honestly. I took my boyfriend here for his birthday. The outside seating is set up nicely. We were in a “booth” or enclave, I guess you would call it. I’m so happy they are open and able to stay alive after Covid closing.

I miss the carts SO MUCH. The experience of new dishes passing by was so novel to me and was my favorite part aside from (of course) the actual food. I understand why that is not feasible right now though and am very happy to just be going.

My boyfriend had the state bird and I had fish. It was either sea bass or halibut... I can’t remember. Both were great. We also had fish tartar and whole wheat pancakes small plates to share. They were both excellent.

Service, as always, was phenomenal. Seating was immediate, waiter was very helpful and funny. After 20 years in the service industry, this is the only place I’ve been to and thought if I had a restaurant, I’d model service after theirs. It’s absolutely perfect. Generous, kind, inviting and completely without pretense.

Overall, great experience and memories made. Can’t wait until they bring back the carts, but I’ll keep coming back until they do.

This was our first meal out since Covid and I couldn’t think of a better place. Of course the food was delicious, but the service was exemplary. And, we also appreciated the outdoor setup with walls separating us from other tables.

Statebird x The Progress never disappoints. We love the variety of food, and the smaller plate options so you can try a little bit of everything. They had a tempura anchovy special the night we went, honestly we could've ordered one for everyone at the table it was that good. The fried black cod tail and the liberty duck were also out of this world. I can't write enough good things about this place. We will most certainly be back for more!

SO impressed by their service and professionalism even though we were super late, cutting into their transition to dinner service due to crazy traffic and road closures. A State of Progress merges two amazing restaurants into one! The ambiance of the outdoor seating is comfy and safe. Food is amazing and there are classics from both The Progress and State Bird Provisions, alongside some new exciting and creations from Chefs Brioza and Krasinski and their talented kitchen staff. Been meaning to try this spot for a loooong time, and finally did on a beautiful Saturday afternoon during Covid. the parklet they set up with cabanas was fantastic and we felt very comfortable with the service, etc. Shoyu egg appetizer was so good we had one to start and ordered another to finish. Cold noodle salad was also very tasty. Personally, I felt like the squid ink seafood cavatelli and fried quail dishes needed some additional flavor- acid for the pasta and maybe garlic for the quail. Donut holes were great, but the sticky bun wasn't as good as it looked. We would definitely go again, to try some other dishes and definitely get the shoyu egg!

The outdoor version of these two wonderful restaurants is still terrific. Our server was animated, friendly, and knowledgeable. The smoke from the fires can quickly dirty the outdoor tables, but a quick wipe took care of that immediately. The meal was rich and diverse from appetizers to desserts. The wine list is great too. Thank goodness they have adapted and survived!

Has the best COVID protocols of any restaurant I have been to yet. Weird to be eating this high quality food on compostable dishware and bus your own tables but I get it. Even though the duck was not on the menu they managed to prep for our party and Adam (the sommelier) provided excellent wine recommendations. All in all we had a great celebratory lunch despite the bad air quality on Saturday.
