Best meal I’ve had in St. Louis. Inventive, fresh, delicious menu. Nice wine list. Beautiful room. Really fabulous dining experience.
Great small plate food with a wide variety. The specialty cocktails were hit and miss. This was our second time back within a year and the quality of the drinks seems to have gone down slightly.
It was a very good meal in a great environment.
Service was great. Drinks were good. Food selection was horrible. My friends and I decided to just get drinks and eat elsewhere because the food was too adventurous for our palate. We did try the meatballs which were a funny color, mushy and very spicy.
The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Loved the pork belly brussels sprouts dish. The prices would prohibit me from visiting more than once in a blue moon. It was a bit noisy, but that was mostly due to a large party in an adjoining room. I enjoyed the convenience of eating here and then going down the hall to see a movie.
The service was amazing each server was kind, upbeat and attentive to my every need. The atmosphere was great not to loud but you didnt feel like people were listening to your conversation, you feel like your in the mix, its modern yest classy. The food was nothing short of amazing! Would reccomend the coffee rubbed filet or the spare rib both great! I reccomend this place to everyone!
The food, the service and ambience was marvelous.
Fantastic food! Absolutely delicious, surprisingly reasonably priced, and a very compelling menu. Lots of good places to eat in CWE, but this may be overlooked because it's part of the Chase? It should not be - absolute pleasure!
I was pleasantly surprised how good the food at the Preston was. Every dish was absolutely superb. Certainly above average for the Central West End. Would highly recommend. Plates are small, but the idea is to share them. I didn't leave hungry!
We made reservations for a Saturday evening dinner. The place wasn’t terribly crowded. We ordered almost all of the plates. Between four people we got to share and the food was well portioned. He charred octopus was disappointing given how chewy it was. Everything else, especially the jerk chicken and rice, was delicious. The food here is outstanding, the service is terrible. For a place that wasn’t crowded we had to send someone to look for our server. We didn’t even get water refills. The server didn’t know half the items on the bread board. I hope this isn’t a pattern here because the food is definitely worth going back for.
Food was weird, as if they’re trying too hard to be eccentric.
There's a lot to like about this place: the tapas-style menu, the creativity of the chefs, the wine and cocktail selections, and - at least on this occasion - the great service. I'll be back the next time I visit St. Louis.
The various dishes were very tasty and ample. They suggest selecting 2 plates each and our party of three also selected a cheese plate as an appetizer. We were quite full by the end of the meal.
We sat down at our table but ended up leaving within 5-10 min. Our server had not been over to our table yet and we could tell the couple at the table across from us was annoyed with their service. We overheard them voicing their concerns to manager. There was only one server for the restaurant that night and they had been waiting for their drinks for awhile. Being that we hadn't ordered yet, but were hungry and looking for a quality night out, we got up and left. No one tried to stop us or inquire why we were leaving, including the host who had just seated us. Not good!
Tables are way too small for a party of four trying multiple dishes. Constantly shuffling menus, picking them up off the floor, moving glasses around to accommodate new dish. Food was very good, service was excellent but we would be reluctant to go again with friends.
Excellent dining room. Staff is friendly and helpful.
We had an excellent meal at The Preston with friends from out of town. We shared a number of small plates and found them to be inventive and with top quality ingredients prepared in a masterful fashion. The deep-fried deviled eggs were scrumptious, as were the mushroom arancini and the endive and citrus. Stout-glazed short ribs, coffee-rubbed petit filet, and five spice pork tenderloin were our meat choices. Each was terrific. Our server was also particularly good--responsive, friendly and professional. This is a handsome and quiet restaurant that offers a great place to share food.
Love the Preston...great food(small plates) always beautifully presented. Flavorful and quite delicious!!
Drink menu is also good and chsnges often.
Great service and informative wait staff...Jay,Jerica and Alex are our favorites!
Will be back soon and am happy to recommend to anyone who enjoys pleasant surroundings. The Chase and the Preston are both winners in my book!!
Very enjoyable. Food was delicious and service outstanding. Thanks
The Preston is one of my favorite restaurants in St. Louis. The food is always great, as is the service. The pretzel croissant plate is a must try.
Food waa great, especially the shortrib and charred octopus. Service was good. I will absolutely be going back
I was unprepared for the 'small plates' menu. Because of that, I would not take a business client or associate there for a meal. It worked for us that evening since we were with friends. Even though we ordered a variety of plates to share, I somehow did not feel that I had eaten a full meal. For example, I had the coffee rubbed filet, but, because of the portion size, I did not leave with the feeling I had a steak.
Absolutely amazing...great atmosphere, great service and really great food!
It's rare that a restaurant -- especially one serving breakfast -- takes over 45 minutes to get food to your table. We made a reservation through Open Table the day before and arrived a few minutes before our 8:30 AM slot. The host at the lobby ignored us as we walked past him, only to be turned back by a couple of servers at the door. He then led us silently to a booth and it was 8:40 before we were even approached by another server. Our orders were not complex -- two eggs over easy with bacon & sausage; a 3-egg omelet with bacon and sausage. At 9:15 we still had nothing but a carafe of coffee. The food, when it arrived, was adequate but nothing special. At many hotels this kind of breakfast is complimentary, but our tab came to $46 + tip. It's a good thing they validate for parking, because with the delay, parking would have added another $10.
Excellent service paired with excellent food and wine choices by the glass! We loved the pretzel croissants- fabulous and worth ordering. Every selection was filled with creative, labor intensive preparation, melding flavors for an exceptional dinner experience. We loved The Preston!
