Love this place for Sunday brunch so we tried it for dinner....menu is VERY limited...portions were VERY small...and all six of us at table were disappointed.
Such a pretty restaurant. Friendly staff. Nice ambiance. Sadly it was very empty on a Friday night. The menu wasn’t terribly appealing and needed rounding out...seemed to be missing something(s). Some well executed basic options would have been nice. The bread was good. The Cornish hen was dry and tasteless as were the accompanying 3 weird blobs of mashed purple potatoes. And expensive. Not planning to return.
Paul was amazing in every way! Excellent service!
Incredible food and service. The space and vibe is unpretentious (as is the price point), and the food is as good as any fine dining restaurant in town. We ordered the filet of beef with whipped potatoes and the duck breast with creamy grits. Outstanding! So was the chocolate and caramel dessert. The menu is limited, but there is something for everyone unless you have to have pasta. In that case -- go to one of the numerous Italian restaurants in St. Louis. At the Preston, you'll find a tightly tuned selection of items that will knock your sock off. We'll be going back!
Two of us had the Snapper. $35. Fishy, and tasteless.
Excellent food and a wonderful prefixed menu for Valentine’s Day with wine pairings. The ambiance was amazing and the open kitchen concept is fascinating to watch. Our server was very knowledgeable about the selections and helpful when making choices. It only got slightly loud because it was a full house. Overall a outstanding dining experience
Great restaurant for breakfast. Highly recommended for any occasion. Customer service was excellent from the seater to the waitress was fast friendly and courtesy.
Incredible service thanks Paul and good!
Excellent food and service. Very much appreciated the low key atmosphere so we could discuss business discussions. Excellent wine list and the server was very knowledgeable about the menu.
The menu had less items to pick from especially the number of small plates. All the steaks offered were 8 or ounces. Ther were only limited number of seafood items. The salmon offered as an entree , we were told that it was a soup. The service was very good. The food that we order was very good.
Fabulous chef ...great service but lamb dish a bit on the cooler side. Restaurant could be warmer in general.
Always great....love the lobster pop overs. Lovely ambiance, good service
Outstanding! Please arrange for more dinners with wine pairings.
Our Christmas dinner was somewhat a disappointment. Two in my party had the duck and had to send it back as it was rubbery and tough. I had the sea bass which was OK, but rather dry and tasteless It could have used some sauce, maybe with capers and lemon. On the positive side, my salad was good as were the scallops and the desserts. The service was very good and the staff responded to our concerns and were apologetic. Maybe because this was a holiday, the food was not up to our expectations. It is very difficult to find good restaurants that are open on Christmas day.
The food was very well prepared. Perfect seasoning and nice variety offered.
Wonderful waitress and great food!
Love the pretzel croissants! Great service.
Restaurant was very clean. Quick and good service. Food was very good!
We dined Saturday evening for our 10 year wedding anniversary and had a wonderful time. We chose to sit in a booth near the front entrance and bar, which was great for people-watching, especially on such a busy night during the holiday season. The entire meal was relaxed and we enjoyed every dish, from the lobster popovers to the Chilean sea bass. Dessert was also a winner. Compliments to the chef! Adam has only been on staff for a few weeks but was professional, timely and friendly. We hope to visit again!
We stood out in front of the restaurant at the hostess stand for 20 minutes and were never seated. The hostess greeted us and told us she would be back to seat us and never came. We ended up leaving. Very disappointing.
We went to The Preston for our thanksgiving dinner and really enjoyed the atmosphere and service. They had a Thanksgiving special that included all the family favorite (stuffing, cranberry salad, turkey etc.). Everything was excellent!
Breakfast buffet was a great value for the price. Service was top-notch.
Food was excellent and service was excellent and awesome our server she was outstanding she even remembered my drunk called "Gwenette" made with chambord, vodka and half and half the girl was amazing I had not been there in 9 months and she remembered wow
I think there needs to be more small plate items on the menu, Like before. The white service doesn’t seem as attentive as previously, either. Just seems to have lost a step. Still love the place but a bit disappointed this last visit.
The staff is truly amazing...actually entertaining and made our night out much more fun.
The service was very slow. Our food was luke warm to cool. The tarragon aioli tasted nothing like tarragon. The fries are just OK. The Polenta dish had no flavor other than polenta. Our party all agreed we would not go back.
We had a business dinner at The Preston and would return to the restaurant in the future.
Celebrated a birthday dinner with my mom at The Preston. We made the server aware of our celebration and he made a yummy “off the menu” sangria from scratch for us. We wanted to try a few small plates and they were very accommodating. We were also treated to a free dessert. We had a lovely time!
I live near the Chase and want the Preston to be spectacular. That it is not is disappointing. I took family from out of town for brunch. They have a buffet. Nothing on the buffet was inventive or compelling. The eggs were bone dry. The “fruit” was lackluster melon and pineapple. The baked goods were average at best. No waffles. No pancakes. Overall just meh. And the service was atrocious. You almost had to shoot up a flare to get ther server’s attention. There are some great brunches in St. Louis. This is not one of them. I wish it were. Shape up, Preston. We want to love you.
Mark was our server and he was absolutely amazing. The food was phenomenal.
Service was slow to start. We had to wait to be seated, despite a reservation being made & the restaurant not busy. There was never a hello/welcome. After several minutes of waiting again, the waiter came by & poured coffee and never asked about what else we might want to drink, or even say welcome in or any other small chit chat (like have you dined with us before). He literally just said “coffee?”, poured a few cups & then abruptly left. After several more minutes we stopped him and asked about other drinks/drink menu, in which there was none he said and he just offered mimosas or bloody Mary’s. A few of us ordered OJ and tea, in which he forgot the tea. After waiting for some time again, he came back and wanted to take our order. I inquired about the eggs Benedict that was on the website menu, but not on the in restaurant version. At that point the waiter said our menus were the old ones from 3 years ago. He then grabbed 1 menu (despite all 7 of us having the old ones) and handed it to me. I then asked him to give all of us the new version, as there were several options not on the old one. They also had the bacon, sausage and ham listed under the beverage listing (this isn’t a hole in the wall restaurant/hotel where mistakes might be expected. After finally getting our food, we realized there was no salt/pepper. Then we asked about getting some ketchup for the breakfast potatoes & then he left but never brought any. We asked another waiter to bring us ketchup, in which he brought 1 plastic cup with some. We had to ask for some extra, as 4 others wanted some as well. I never had a refill on my water or asked if I wanted another OJ. He did refill coffees once. Everyone said how bad the service was. Food wise, omelet and Mr. Preston were the highlights. Eggs Benedict, just ok. Hollandaise sauce had a weird taste to it. Sausage looked like it had been on a hot dog roller for 2 days. No one was wanting to come back anytime soon. One would expect more from the Chase.
Worth it! What a cost chic place with great food, energy, service, menu options, and surprising elegance for a hotel restaurant.
I love this place! The food is great.
The Preston is a great find in the Chase Hotel. Excellent food, creative cocktails and a very good wine list. Everything our group ordered was delicious. The highlights were; lobster popovers, octopus, salmon on pea puree, ribeye steak and brussel sprouts....all were very impressive
The service was unbelievably careless and bad. Waiter was incompetent.
Dylan was absolutely incredible. We left him a 30% tip and even that felt way too low. He made me and my girlfriend's celebration so special. The food was amazing as well. Thanks for making my 25th birthday something to remember!
Very limited menu.
The salad was overdressed
Lobster beignets should be described as lobster salad rolls
The food was marginal at best, but the presentation very poor. Our giant bowls of polenta were straight out of Oliver Twist. The service was abominable. It was incredibly slow, we had to ask multiple times for various things such as sodas, the food was brought out at all different times so that no one was eating at the same time, and it took forever to get our check.
We were really disappointed in their menu selections. Two of us finally settled on the Steak Frites with a side of Brussels sprouts and and I settled for the Dry Rub Ribeye which came with polenta and Brussels sprouts.
The steak frites were reported as pretty good and so were the Brussels sprouts. Unfortunately, the ribeye was disgustingly fatty. Every bite was 1/3 meat 2/3 fat. I tried cutting away the fat but there was too much of it. Also, the sides of polenta and Brussels sprouts were huge! Each could have served three people. It was a total waste of food. For $49.00 it was an overpriced appalling meal.
I was really excited to try The Preston but I will not be back.
Always fun to go to the Chase. Our waiter, Geno, was great. Very kind to us and the grandchildren.
