Travaasa Austin welcomes guests age 16 and up

Our culinary staff is obsessed with two things: nourishing our guests with delicious dishes composed of fresh, organic, and locally sourced ingredients whenever possible; and fostering a sense of community at the table. It is these two obsessions that make dining at Travaasa Austin so special.

Our executive chef, Benjamin Baker, has taken great strides to deliver an experience where guests can share their story over breakfast, lunch or dinner.

From the main road, you drive up a winding road to a plateau overlooking the valley below. The restaurant has very high ceilings and beautiful wood everywhere. Outside, a patio awaits you with ancient oaks artistically lite. In the distance, the setting sun. The food was overall excellent. We started with the Texan Brushetta made from Texas Waygu beef and a salad. Many of the ingredients are grown on premise. Dinner was Wagyu NY Strip with potatoes that was out of this world. The Boar Ribs were ALMOST over salted (a problem we find in Austin). Dessert was even better - goat cheese ice cream with a banana cake. Service was excellent. For the quality of the food, we thought it was reasonable and would go again. We booked already!

This was the perfect destination for our honeymoon. The outdoor activities were great, and were well orchestrated by Travaasa professional staff. We spent 4 days 3 nights, and there is still plenty to explore at Travaasa. We will definitely be heading back for a future anniversary.

I saw this restaurant listed in one of the top chefs, so was looking forward to visiting it with a group of my girlfriends--it was easy to make a reservation for 10 of us--directions on web page perfect---was greeted at their center--was walked down to the restaurant--and the nice man also took me outside to a lovely view, but we decided inside as a bit warm out--hostess great--server, Justin, super-- I thought the food was just okay--I ordered the tamales, we had the special shrimp tacos, looked okay--for a top rated chef, I think the food should have matched everything else--

Travaasa (Jean's Kitchen) is a lovely dining experience. Almost all of the food is grown on their own farm. What isn't grown there is still local and fresh. The restaurant is beautiful, and the patio is stunning, especially at night. They are very slow, so don't go there to "grab a quick bite." Plan to have plenty to talk about while you're waiting, especially on busy weekend nights. It's worth the wait. And if you haven't stayed as a guest at the resort, you're missing out on the experience of a lifetime!

So, what if you have just enough time for dinner, but really need a vacation? (Detail: You do live in the awesome Austin surrounds...) The Answer: Head over to Travassa for a great evening meal. The food delights, and the view just rocks your Texas soul. The drive up reminded us of Italy's winding roads, and made us feel adventuresome. We sat by the chef's station, perched on our barstools, and visited and learned more about the farm food from careful observation. Steak, fish, dessert, salads...all fresh, tasty, nicely balanced, healthful, and delightful. The creative head chef strives to please. You will leave with a happy and full tummy and a vacationer's smile. Don't forget to eat that old time sourdough bread!

The dining here was previously only open to those staying at the hotel/spa, and the health-oriented menu reflects that. There's plenty for vegans/vegetarians/gluten-free diners to choose from, but I had the wild boar bolognese and it was excellent. Much of the produce is apparently sourced from their own small farm less than a mile down the road, and the caprese salad was very fresh and flavorful. The outdoor seating is spacious and very uncrowded, with a nice view of Lake Travis.
