Lovely day -not crowded when we went good service and good food
A group of 6 ladies ate lunch together on Thursday and we all had a delightful time. Our server was outstanding, very helpful in making selections and accommodating to our needs/questions. We had a variety of dishes and everyone was happy with their food. I have always been impressed with everything at the Prado, and am even more so considering that you are working under such difficult circumstances. For most of us, this was the first time we had eaten at a restaurant during the pandemic so it was a special treat. Thank you for all you do to always make eating at your restaurant a great experience.
One of our favorite lunch spots ever!
4 new desserts which is wonderful because we tend to order the same few items every time we come.
It's been a while since we've been out, and The Prado was first choice. The view and ambience was great. The food was amazing, and our waiter, Patrick, was incredible.
We went to The Prado for Thanksgiving dinner. Food was excellent but service was a little off and ambiance not as usual. I think the decline in service and ambiance was due to the pandemic. The restaurant and employees tried hard
Although on the cold side the turkey dinner was very tasty
Great Thanksgiving dinner with Family. Will definitely visit again.
It normally is a lovely place to dine but I won’t be returning for quite some time. We booked a table for 3:30pm. I didn’t realize they were closing at 5pm. The hostess seated us and said we had to be gone within 90 minutes. There were no lights on, no heaters lit (chilly afternoon) and the menu is very limited. Fries on all meals were cold. Kids fish taco was terrible and the waiter disappeared at the end so we didn’t get the kids desserts. I know it’s hard times for all restaurants but there was zero effort being made by anybody working there. $250 for a depressing and uncomfortable lunch ☹️
Lunch at the Pardo at Balboa Park was delightful. The customer service professionalism was excellent - from the hostess to our sever and all individuals in between. If you're looking for a good food value in a beautifully pleasant environment the Pardo is a good choice.
Wonderful anniversary lunch
The Prado is always a pleasure to go too. I haven't been dining out since the pandemic -mid March -in San Diego. But a dear friend & I decided to splurge on lunch. Not a cheap lunch but felt comfortable. Outside dining careful about cleaning the tables, would recommend. All quite lovely Thank You
Let me start with we have eaten here before and we enjoyed everything. Then, November 14th. We had reservations and they took us early, started off on the right foot. It was a blustery day and bordering on chilly. We asked if the two heaters near us could be turned on. We were told they would turn them on when the umbrellas were removed, for a later serving. We were the later lunch group and at the end of the meal they started taking down the umbrellas. Then they turned on the heaters for our last 5 minutes. 2 of 4 patrons ordered the Short Rib. When they showed up we were shocked. Normally Yummy food was tough, dry, tasteless and did I mention tough! I had the Shrimp Cobb and the shrimp were cold and blah. The rest of the salad was a Cobb, so that was good, but when you pay 17 dollars for a Shrimp Cobb you sort of expect for the shrimp to be a major player and I was disappointed. We talked to the waiter and he talked us into getting two new short rib dinners. They were what we normally expected, but by that time we were not happy campers. We are Cohn Group restaurant followers as we eat at and love Island Prime and C Level, Coasterra, Vintana, Bo Beau in La Mesa and Corvette Diner. We have met Chef Deb many times as she came over to meet my Mom for her 90th birthday and I know she would not have served that food. We were really disappointed to say the least.
First off, Scott our waiter could vouch for us, but we were all very sad there’s no more flatbread crackers served before the meals. Gotta love COVID. But other than that, everything was great. Our servers were very friendly, Scott was very animated and made the experience very fun and the food was to die for. Always so good... It’s a birthday tradition and hope to keep it going there for many more years! Can’t beat the area, the food and service!
A beautiful lunch in the park can make you forget the pandemic for an hour or so.
Made reservations, and was seated quickly. Honored my request for sun and shade. Ordered, and got food rather quickly. Dissappointed we didn't get our drinks first. First time ordering a burger, as I wanted to try something I hadn't had before. It was very good, cooked to perfection. French was tasty but could of been hotter. My friend loved her Shrimp Cobb Salad. I would order that next time as it did look very good. No bread though? Since it was a birthday celebre, I got a free flan dessert which was very nice. Delish and I love flan. Wasn't expected. A pleasant surprise! Would definately go back.
I don't understand why I had to wait in the patio sitting on the edge of the fountain until my friend arrived. I would have much preferred to have been seated at my table on the patio while I waited. It wasn't like you needed my table for an extra five or ten minutes. There were few people already seated. Plus. The convenient entrance off the parking was closed off and I had to walk all the way around the building.
Everything was great except for the fact that they had no Chardonnay to offer.
Absolutely delicious lunch. Our waiter was wonderful. It was my sister's birthday and they gave her a scrumptious mascarpone flan. We had a wonderful day! Beautiful restaurant, too!!
The food was amazing!
It was a beautiful sunny afternoon and a delight to be outdoors with friends celebrating a birthday that happened in July - but it is never too late to celebrate with The Prado's fabulous birthday flan!
We had an excellent meal out on the patio for lunch. Their beet salad is my favorite. The Pradorita was served in a small carafe and was delicious. The view is very nice from the patio and they kept all of the tables socially distant. I would highly recommend the Prado.
The Prado is always a special place to dine in Balboa Park.
Great as usual. Social distancing rules, professional water, great food
Ate outside. No crackers and hummus. Lunch menu was limiting for us because four out of six entrees were fish. However, hamburgers were great. Fries were crisp and yummy. Desserts were not appealing so we did not have.
Lovely table and the salmon was outstanding. All the servers were gracious and friendly. One of our favorite restaurants!
Very good food, atmosphere and service. Can’t wait to return.
We were originally seated outside, but it was very warm. Immediately upon our request we were moved to a lovely table inside where it was much cooler and very comfortable.
Wine and food were delicious, waiter was was able to answer our questions about the food. And provided great service.
We celebrated a 40th Anniversary late lunch. The food and the margaritas were wonderful. Our server, Lisa, was very attentive and made the occasion very special.
Sat outdoorsand it really was a great meal. Excellent service.
The Prado is a lovely restaurant with great food and wonderful service. We go there whenever we are in San Diego.
Fantastic dining experience!! Great table location with nice shade and temperature just right. Superior service by Lisa and food was marvelous 🙃we had Kobe beef sushi, Kobe beef burger, and green pea/asparagus risotto.
Always a delightful experience
Food was cold and not fresh at all , definitely not coming back
Our server Lisa was awesome and took excellent care of us despite it being terribly hot that day. Adult drinks were quite tasty too. Only negative was the overpriced Caesar salad (that wasn’t even cut up). The dressing was good and it was very fresh and looked classy, just thought it was too much moolah for lettuce not even cut up.
My go to restaurant when guests are in town.wonderful location in Balboa Park. Great salads and the burger is outstanding. Friendly, efficient wait staff. I highly recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner.
I had been many times over the past years. I didn’t think the Menu offered much. Went with the Kobe burger. Felt like I was trying to choke down a hockey puck. I’ve never been one to send food back but considered this time
The patio was very hot and some seats at our table couldn't be completely covered to ward off the sun. Some of our favorites have been removed from the menu. Service was great!
Bad menu. Won’t be back to this restaurant again.
Patio dining, Mediterranean, multi course set menu with wine pairings. Every course was delightful and loved the ambiance
Lovely ambience and delicious food make for a winning combination at The Prado. We are delighted that this icon has re-opened. The outdoor patio is serene with its garden views, and the tables are well distanced from each other.
The food was well prepared and the service was courteous and prompt.
We had the Cobb salad and the BLT. Each was well prepared and seasoned.
Already looking forward to returning to this wonderful place!
