I have eaten at the Prado numerous times inside.
I really enjoyed being outdoors.
Fantastic for 70% of the experience. At first, remarkably attentive & friendly service. Prompt delivery of generously sized, well priced & delicious plates. But fell apart after dinner. Service all but vanished & ordered a dessert that ended up never arriving, with odd explanations/excuses. Super convenient pre-theatre venue, and was ALMOST great.
The Prado never disappoints! We had the cobb salad with shrimp and the tomato risotto, then the pana cotta for dessert, and were delighted with how fresh, tasty, and beautifully presented everything was.
Absolutely delightful! Wonderful service from beginning to end. Our party of 5 enjoyed the entire experience and will definitely be back to celebrate a meal at Prado.
The portions on the short ribs seemed smaller than usual...tasted great regardless.
It was a great atmosphere to meet my cousin, catch up, and talk with great food and service.
Always a beautiful venue, food is good but nothing outstanding. Waitress didn’t actually write our order down so the 2 simple requests we had, like no cheese on the salad weren’t followed which is so unprofessional and annoying
Our waiter was very slow to come to our table; we waited 10 to 15 minutes and then asked another waiter who took our drink order.
Restaurant is great though rest room situation is not. There are public rest rooms outside of restaurant which were crowded and unclean.
Beautiful setting. Delicious food. Portions of salad are large. Main dish portions small. Great server but hostess was rude to us when we asked for a different table. Otherwise nice dinner.
Must be a sign of the times. Food, drinks and ambience was great and the service was slow. We were going to the Old Globe to see Hair so we needed to be done by a certain time. Waiter brought us dessert menus and by the time he returned for our order we had to tell him that we had run out of time.
We do enjoy eating at The Prado. Brittany, our server was excellent and very busy!
It was the day of our 39th wedding anniversary. Since I knew this was one of the fine Cohn Restaurants we enjoy dining at, and had a hankering for the Kobe Beef Sushi, I planned a "date" for us here.
The food is always spot on delicious and my lady and enjoyed a leisurely dinner talking about some of the memorable highlights of married life together. We also chatted about what is ahead. It was the perfect evening for our perfect paring! Brittany kept us informed of the progress of our drinks and meals, though very busy.
Amazing food. Amazing service. Amazing and romantic atmosphere!
Great good and our server was extremely friendly and helpful
Fantastic setting and service. Food was also very good. Appreciate that they have gluten free options avaialble.
What a great lunch experience. Our servers, Jenny and Dustin, made the food and atmosphere even better. The restaurant is so well run, it allows you to just relax and enjoy your meal and company.
Everything was absolutely fabulous. I was really surprised by the quality of everything for the price. 5 stars
As expected the food was good. Solid, tasty, right-sized and the right temp attire all around. Hard to even nit-pick there.
We asked to be seated outside and we were. Great table and quiet location as we requested.
Beto, our server, was stellar. Right in the spot when needed and not a bother when not needed. Nearly flawless.
Hard to go wrong here for sure.
Perfect venue to go to the Old Globe theater. They see that you make it on time in a lovely way. Our food, salmon, short ribs, pork chop, and paella so diverse and all delicious!! The service is great, everyone so friendly. And the patio setting is beautiful.
As usual, the patio at El Prado makes for a wonderful dining experience. Beautiful and elegant. The menu is still in pandemic mode. Very limited. Food was good, not great. Service was excellent.
fish tacos was very good, calamaries fries too and the carrot cake and flan delicious
My Risotto was presented beautifully and tasted delicious. The vegetarian black bean soup was served hot was was presented well, too. Very healthy meal served by a very efficient and polite waiter.
There were 3 in our group.
Pork chop was excellent, moist with flavorful mustard sauce.
Sea bass was excellent, beautiful presentation.
Paella was good, would have preferred more seafood.
I love the place and the drinks are great, bit I've forgotten the food is a little on the bland side. I had fish tacos and there was no hot sauce other than Tabasco or something like that. We are in San Diego, you need to include the culture!!!
I savored the Kobe beef sushi with fried calamari on the side washed down with a pomegranate margarita. This capped with the Tres leche cake and coffee made this a meal to remember and the Prado staff were efficient, courteous and kind. I WILL BE BACK.
This establishment tacks on a required and additional 4% surcharge to your entire bill in order to offset the California wage increase. So instead of just raising their prices by 4% they do this surcharge so they can communicate to you how much the despise paying their own staff a living wage.
We love Prado and make a point to visit every time we visit San Diego. Food is delicious, service too-notch and the ambiance on the outdoor patio is marvelous! Crab dip appetizer was a good choice. My pork chop was one of the very best I’ve every had. Great for a special event, especially a romantic date!
Just love the atmosphere at Prado restaurant.
Outdoor dining here is so charming and romantic, beautiful venue. Service was great as well as food.
For my daughter's birthday we could not have asked for a more beautiful venue; a patio table, nicely shaded with an umbrella, and looking out over a beautiful garden. The Pavillon organ was playing in the background-- practicing. Our server was excellent -- knowledgeable, friendly but not intrusive. The beet salad with a skewer of shrimp was delicious as was the cobb salad. And the flan with berries and a candle made for a festive finale and was heavenly tasting.
Our patio dining experience was great- beautiful setting, appreciated that staff are masked, friendly attentive server and delicious food and sangria with lunch, although the menu has been modified to better manage current situation we enjoyed delicious favorites such as the pressed arugula salad with added chicken, Cobb salad and the farmer’s green salad with perfectly cooked added salmon
We ate a light meal before a play at the globe. The Arugula salad was not good, the greens were wilty and tasteless and there was grit in the salad.. The desserts were small and bland. The Zinfandel wine was good. The food was very disappointing and we are not people with high requirements.
We have always enjoyed Cohn’s restaurants but our meal last night was disappointing.
First of all their Hair special dinner options were more expensive than if you ordered them separately off the menu. Our waiter agreed.
The Caesar salad was awful with croutons that were below quality. I get better salads at fast food shops.
My wife’s pork chop was badly breaded and my paella dish had very very little fish. I was able to find some chicken and chorizo.
The tres leches dessert had a hard meringue around it that was almost inedible.
A very disappointing dinner for $128 and I had to pay a 4% surcharge…
Hi Rickyg and thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent visit to The Prado. I'm sorry that we failed to deliver an amazing experience with respect to the food. It sounds like there issues with all 3 courses. I'm also sorry we failed to pick up on this while you were here. I will share your comments with our leadership team as it will serve to help improve our operation. I would like to chat with you directly if possible. 619-269-0313 is my work phone. Sincerely, Scott
We had a nice dinner sitting outside on the patio. The Pradorita margarita was very good and the shaker had two more glasses, so generous portion. The salads (beet and mixed greens) were very good. They could offer more vegetarian options for the main entree, but the Tomato Sofrito Risotto was a delicious option. Our server was attentive and the out patio is great. Overall a good dinner.
Had a theater special. Ambience and food went along with current production.
5 p.m. was quiet and enjoyed dinner for 3. As we finished a large party was sat adjacent snd they were loud so timing was good. Suggest that when that happens and the restaurant was quite open that you seat large parties apart.
Charming outdoor table overlooking garden. Outstanding interesting food, well prepared and presented, delicious.
The small quantity of fish in the fish tacos was very fishy and dry. The quality of food at the Prado is not what it once was.
Lovely evening, with good food and attentive wait staff.
The food was great, the service was great, and the scenery was relaxing. Had a wonderful lunch. We loved being able to get a reservation online and avoided the line.
A lovely outdoor dining experience. One of the best lunches we’ve had in San Diego. Everyone in our party was pleased.
Nice place before a play or just to enjoy Balboa Park
