The food was good and our waitress was attentive. However, the outdoor dinning didn’t have enough fans or umbrellas. When we were seated, there were three open tables. My parents were the oldest in the three parties waiting to be sat. The hostess sat us at a table with all but one seat in the shade. I asked her to move us to a table with more shade BEFORE the other two parties were seated, and she refused to do so. I expect better manners from a place like the Prado.
Love this place! The ambience and food is great. I highly recommend the calamari fries & fish tacos!!
Really a delight to return to The Prado for lunch on the patio. With COVID-19 in the picture, I understand that the regular lunch menu is not possible, but was disappointed that lunch choices were cut way back. Would rather have more food choices and fewer alcoholic drinks to choose from! Food was terrific and service was just fine. Make reservations if you can. Can hardly wait for inside seating to return at The Prado...love this restaurant.
It looked like a great place to eat based on location and photos. However, we were not treated as valued customers. I did not anticipate it to be 97 degrees when I made reservations for outdoor seating at 230pm. So, we asked to sit indoor without knowing they had a shaded patio. While indoors we asked to sit outside towards the front entrance and was told that this was the last time we were allowed to move. This came off as extremely rude considering there was not a lot of patrons and I wanted to be able to enjoy my birthday lunch at a nice restaurant. I did not eating here. The staff seem to hate their jobs and was unkind. I wouldn't recommend going here if you want a memorable and outstanding experience at a nice restaurant. I had a terrible experience my first time here and I am not coming back.
Great Central Location in Bilbao. Not too many choices on the menu, but we found the food and presentation to be excellent. Only outdoor seating available due to Covid. Would be uncomfortable on a hot day.
Very good service, there is only one thing that I did not like, they do not pass us to the table until everyone arrives that I think is in very bad taste!
The paella was not up to speed. The chicken was dry, there wasn’t any fish, one clam didn’t open(a sign it shoudn’t be eaten)and the seasoning was very bland.
I’m giving the restaurant a break because of the terrible times we are in and hopefully when conditions improve, the restaurant’s standards will jump back to normal.
The staff was excellent!
The food was ok. I would’ve given higher ratings if the prices were lower.
Great service from Lisa. Ask for her section. Food was fabulous as always even with the limited menu.
The staff has always been amazing. Ambiance wonderful and the food scrumptious.
Excellent food and service. One of my favorite places to dine in SD.
It was a San Diego heat wave, but we arrived just as they opened (always recommended) and got a nice table in the shade with a lovely view of the Park to the south. We were celebrating a birthday and, despite the heat, had a great celebration with bubbly and good food. there were four of us and we had a Kobe burger, pea and asparagus risotto, mixed green salad with salad and Caesar salad with salmon. Not a bad word for anything. Our server was attentive.
We celebrated our Wedding Anniversary at the Prado and it was the perfect setting; weather warm, personnel all in good form, nice but respective and friendly. The food was great and the setting comfortable. We couldn't have asked for more. memorable lunch And, it was great to be back at our city's landmark restaurant !!
The Prado is a San Diego treasure nestled in the heart of Balboa Park. This is a perfect place to go during the COVID-19 pandemic. The tables are well spaced, they have a large comfortable outdoor patio with beautiful views of Balboa Park and the food is delicious. The service is spot on. We had the salmon and fries and it was super tasty. Thanks for making our lunch special.
This is one of my favorite locations for lunch. Definitely choose an outside table.
Loved the gorgeous outdoor view, the peaceful ambiance, the delicious food and attentive service!
The setting, exquisite cuisine and attentive service can not be beat!
Food os not good
Very pleasant lunch. The food was good. I missed the humus appetizer they used to serve.
Over many years we have enjoyed the Prado, for its architecture, design, food and service. COVID-19 adjustments are sensible, with outside patio seating at tables safely distanced. The only problem with our early afternoon luncheon for four was the heat wave at the time. There was little breeze. We could not stay as long as we would have liked. The restaurant could have installed some fans to move the air around, and that would have earned them 5 stars.
Despite Covid I felt The Prada had taken all the necessary steps for a safe environment. We each chose a different lunch choice which all three were delicious and the service was superb!
We were seated at a table that was very hot. I had mentioned that someone was on crutches so I guess it was to facilitate her being close to the door. However, there was a glass barrier beside us so that no air was moving. Waiter was great. Salad and hamburger were great. Fish taco was nothing special.
We are weekly regulars. Great food, outstanding service, beautiful outdoor setting, worth the 50 mile drive from Fallbrook!
Great value, great setting! Will definitely be going back soon!
Great place!!! Everything great
For sure we will come back!
We chose to celebrate our anniversary at the Prado and made reservations for their Saturday night Evenings in the Park prix fixe dinner. The Prado is charging $64.95 for this Prix Fixe menu and unfortunately there was not a single course that I would recommend. I had the truffle crusted pork loin and my husband had the sea bass cassoulet. Both were barely edible. Normally I would be disappointed with the tiny portion size, but because the food was so flavorless we didn’t even care. We had also requested a table with a view for our special anniversary dinner and instead we were seated at the back of the restaurant and not a word was mentioned about our anniversary. We are usually very happy with the Cohn restaurants and in fact we celebrated my husband’s birthday at Island Prime a few few weeks ago and we had such a fantastic experience that we ended up going again for my daughter’s birthday two weeks ago. Island Prime serves delicious food and really knows how to make your special occasion special. The Prado on the other hand should be embarrassed about the quality of their prix fixe dinner and their general lack of care. At this point, I would highly recommend choosing somewhere other than The Prado for a nice evening.
Liked the idea of the wine pairing concept for the weekend dinner. Beautiful setting but food was not quite as well prepared as prior dinners we have had there before.
I have visited the Prado in the past for special occasions and have always enjoyed my experience. Unfortunately, this most recent visit was highly disappointing. It began with being sat at a table that had a lot of sun shining on it. The solution was obvious, move a nearby umbrella by about a foot, and the problem would be solved, but between the hostess, a nearby buzzer, our server, they were paralyzed with the inability to make a decision to make the guests comfortable and refused to move it. Finally a manager came by and happily moved the umbrella. (Moving the umbrella didn’t cause any issue to any nearby tables.)
My mother, who doesn’t get to San Diego often, was looking forward to the delicious bread basket. We were told that that was no longer a part of the dining experience because it was a “shareable item”. Only to be followed up later with an appetizer that we ordered which was a “shareable item”. Ridiculous! Where is the customer service! Also the additional 4% charge because of increasing costs is so tacky! Just increase prices and don’t nickel and dime your guests. Our server was professional and pleasant, but is put in a bad position by management when she has to tell the guests that she can’t move an umbrella, or give you appetizing bread, and that there is an extra 4% surcharge because management won’t just increase the prices. I worked in the restaurant industry for 7 years and know what good customer service should look like. This was a disappointing visit and could be easily improved upon. I hope my comments are helpful and to be able to visit again soon.
Loved the paella, and service was great.
Quill definitely return.
Awesome place for lunch inside Balboa Park; some listed it as pricey but I think the price was reasonable for the quality of the food and service. We were a party of 3 traveling by bike around SD, and they allowed us to keep our bikes in a small area reserved for strollers, etc. Great service, great food ;) .
This is a good restaurant in a world class location.
Limited menu due to Covid should not mean ingredients advertised within the menu items are missing or sub par. I wasn’t going to leave a review because all previous experiences have been great. The food was not good. I will not be back until full operation.
Excellent as always. Patrick’s service is top notch.
You cannot go wrong with the Prado! Their food, service and ambiance are top notch! And now they are very conscientious about COVID-19 and keeping everyone safe and healthy! One of our favorite restaurants.
We loved everything about our lunch...The patio was lovely and the service was outstanding! All three of us had different drinks and food and everyone was thrilled with their order. Honestly can’t wait to go back!
Would totally recommend.
1st suggestion is never do a Spanish themed dinner ever again; unless you bring in someone who understands the flavors of Spain.
Octopus was average - in Spain grilled or comes in a vinaigrette and olive oil
Rabbit and white beans tasted like paper - needed to be cooked in white wine & garlic at a minimum
Paella was more of a risotto dish(Italian) not Spanish in taste or flavor
Quail was very good and dessert was also good.
Suggest you bring in a Spanish cook next time to help make this more authentic.
One of the nicest outdoor restaurants in San Diego. We enjoyed a leisurely late lunch. The food was good, the waitress very attentive but not to much so. And the ambiance couldn't be beat.
The Prado has limited hours and a very limited menu. Not the same place it use to be. The waiter was not knowledgeable about the menu or hours of operation. He did his job minimally and didn't seem happy to be working. Its still a beautiful place to eat and the food was prepared well.
great place, great food, great service
Pleasant. Great view from outdoor patio food was good
