My Risotto was presented beautifully and tasted delicious. The vegetarian black bean soup was served hot was was presented well, too. Very healthy meal served by a very efficient and polite waiter.
There were 3 in our group.
Pork chop was excellent, moist with flavorful mustard sauce.
Sea bass was excellent, beautiful presentation.
Paella was good, would have preferred more seafood.
I love the place and the drinks are great, bit I've forgotten the food is a little on the bland side. I had fish tacos and there was no hot sauce other than Tabasco or something like that. We are in San Diego, you need to include the culture!!!
I savored the Kobe beef sushi with fried calamari on the side washed down with a pomegranate margarita. This capped with the Tres leche cake and coffee made this a meal to remember and the Prado staff were efficient, courteous and kind. I WILL BE BACK.
This establishment tacks on a required and additional 4% surcharge to your entire bill in order to offset the California wage increase. So instead of just raising their prices by 4% they do this surcharge so they can communicate to you how much the despise paying their own staff a living wage.
We love Prado and make a point to visit every time we visit San Diego. Food is delicious, service too-notch and the ambiance on the outdoor patio is marvelous! Crab dip appetizer was a good choice. My pork chop was one of the very best I’ve every had. Great for a special event, especially a romantic date!
Just love the atmosphere at Prado restaurant.
Outdoor dining here is so charming and romantic, beautiful venue. Service was great as well as food.
For my daughter's birthday we could not have asked for a more beautiful venue; a patio table, nicely shaded with an umbrella, and looking out over a beautiful garden. The Pavillon organ was playing in the background-- practicing. Our server was excellent -- knowledgeable, friendly but not intrusive. The beet salad with a skewer of shrimp was delicious as was the cobb salad. And the flan with berries and a candle made for a festive finale and was heavenly tasting.
Our patio dining experience was great- beautiful setting, appreciated that staff are masked, friendly attentive server and delicious food and sangria with lunch, although the menu has been modified to better manage current situation we enjoyed delicious favorites such as the pressed arugula salad with added chicken, Cobb salad and the farmer’s green salad with perfectly cooked added salmon
We ate a light meal before a play at the globe. The Arugula salad was not good, the greens were wilty and tasteless and there was grit in the salad.. The desserts were small and bland. The Zinfandel wine was good. The food was very disappointing and we are not people with high requirements.
We have always enjoyed Cohn’s restaurants but our meal last night was disappointing.
First of all their Hair special dinner options were more expensive than if you ordered them separately off the menu. Our waiter agreed.
The Caesar salad was awful with croutons that were below quality. I get better salads at fast food shops.
My wife’s pork chop was badly breaded and my paella dish had very very little fish. I was able to find some chicken and chorizo.
The tres leches dessert had a hard meringue around it that was almost inedible.
A very disappointing dinner for $128 and I had to pay a 4% surcharge…
Hi Rickyg and thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent visit to The Prado. I'm sorry that we failed to deliver an amazing experience with respect to the food. It sounds like there issues with all 3 courses. I'm also sorry we failed to pick up on this while you were here. I will share your comments with our leadership team as it will serve to help improve our operation. I would like to chat with you directly if possible. 619-269-0313 is my work phone. Sincerely, Scott
We had a nice dinner sitting outside on the patio. The Pradorita margarita was very good and the shaker had two more glasses, so generous portion. The salads (beet and mixed greens) were very good. They could offer more vegetarian options for the main entree, but the Tomato Sofrito Risotto was a delicious option. Our server was attentive and the out patio is great. Overall a good dinner.
Had a theater special. Ambience and food went along with current production.
5 p.m. was quiet and enjoyed dinner for 3. As we finished a large party was sat adjacent snd they were loud so timing was good. Suggest that when that happens and the restaurant was quite open that you seat large parties apart.
Charming outdoor table overlooking garden. Outstanding interesting food, well prepared and presented, delicious.
The small quantity of fish in the fish tacos was very fishy and dry. The quality of food at the Prado is not what it once was.
Lovely evening, with good food and attentive wait staff.
The food was great, the service was great, and the scenery was relaxing. Had a wonderful lunch. We loved being able to get a reservation online and avoided the line.
A lovely outdoor dining experience. One of the best lunches we’ve had in San Diego. Everyone in our party was pleased.
Nice place before a play or just to enjoy Balboa Park
The pork with mustard crust was too much crust and not up to its usual preparation. Large Crowd in back of indoor restaurant was very noisy and made it difficult for us to hear each other. The celebration of our 50tb anniversary was not so great and was below par as we have loved coming to the pretheater dinner.
We had reservations and were seated right away. Service and food were excellent.
Menu no longer interesting or unusual unfortunately.
Missed the hummus and flatbread crackers…
Kobe beef was ok but paella wasn’t very flavorful or much seafood ingredients
Pomegranate Marguerita had low pomegranate and little tequila and was small and weak and tasted like water!
The service was ok.
Too bad that you no longer have standards for interesting flavorful food or presentation. We won’t be bringing people there for awhile!
The braised pork was cold and overcooked. The broccolinii was hard and under cooked. There were two loud and obnoxious young children who were seated behind us. The parents did nothing to control them. And it took the staff ten minutes to change my table when half the restaurant was gone ok n the other side of the seating area.
The food was delicious. We just feel it is over priced. Our entree with the sauce was the only thing on the plate.
The Mary Chicken was very tough and seemed like it wasn’t cooked right. The waitress brought a steak knife and it was still difficult to cut.
Everything else was great but not e we worth the price.
Favorite location where we married 36 years ago. Excellent food, ambience and service. Margarita had more ice than liquid and blood orange was bitter and not sweet. Will stick to wine next time!
It was a beautiful day! Menu a bit small, not too many offerings, but all was great!
Heather was wonderful, very attentive!!
I met my Niece and Nephew for the first time, and was happy to show them one of the best parts of San Diego!
A lovely early evening on the patio for coctails, dinner and dessert!
We really enjoy the Before Play menu. Pork chop, short ribs, and sea bass--all delicious. Our server made sure that we got to the play on time!
Had a wonderful experience staff was great food was great the Ambiance was fantastic I would definitely recommend it to a friend and we'll be coming back again
As always the food & service was excellent! We appreciated the server’s attention to our needs. We were able to enjoy our dinner & still have plenty of time to get to the performance at the Old Globe.
Great ambiance outside; excellent, friendly waitress. Food very good.
Yes, the menu is more limited than past menus but the choices make sense. Added salmon to my salad and it was perfect.
The outdoor seating is lovely, w/garden views and lots of social distancing under Covid. Food options will suit just about any taste, on the gourmet side and pricey.
Came in to celebrate a birthday. Have always loved the Prado. Unfortunately the service this time was not that good and they did nothing to celebrate my husband’s birthday even though I had notified them when I made the reservation. Disappointing.
The sea bass was amazing, cocktails were reasonable and delicious and dessert hit the spot! Very friendly service, and pretty quick, considering most places are understaffed right now
We had a wonderful dinner at The Prado last night before seeing "Hair" at the Old Globe. The Cohn restaurant group has the best trained service staff in the city. Service was beautifully orchestrated to provide a great experience for pre-theater dining. There was even a special prix fixe menu for Hair and 60's music playing softly in the background. We ate outside on the patio, a lush oasis, overlooking the Japanese garden. The menu is great. We shared a salad, had two seafood main courses, and shared a desert, all in an hour, leaving plenty of time to get to the theater on time. Service was perfectly paced, not rushed. Kudos to our server, Tod, for a great evening.
