Escellent food, margaritas and service.
shrimp salad excellent
As with all the Cohn restaurants, the Prado's food is very good and the presentation is beautiful. We enjoyed; the duck, sea bass and the shrimp and filet. We loved them all!
The service was exceptional. After greeting us, our server asked if we were attending a performance that evening and if so what time was the performance. We responded appropriately and she then knew exactly what our time restraints were for the evening.
Simply lovely! I have been coming to this restaurant since I was a little girl- 60 years! I always enjoy the cuisine, atmosphere and the memories. A classic!
My wife and I are new to San Diego. I searched for a place to celebrate our 37th wedding anniversary, and decided on the Prado. It was great! We enjoyed the food, the atmosphere was grand, and server Dominic was excellent! All in all, a great spot! We'll count on The Prado as a "special night out" place when guests start coming to town.
We had fish tacos and the fish was overdone. Other than that the restaurant was pretty and service was excellent.
Best pork chop i ever had! Love the calimari strips. Devon was an excellent server. Great place.
Another memorable dining experience with the CRG. Exceptional service, ambiance and, of course, delicious food. Make any occasion special at The Prado.
The Prado does an amazing job for the pre-theater crowd! Food is delicious and delivered promptly! Our only comment is that the noise level can be extremely high...our waiter delivered a gin on the rocks instead of a gin lemon drop. In all fairness, the noise level was pretty high and even after repeating myself 3 times, the waiter wasn't sure what I ordered. Only after I pointed to my husband's (vodka) lemon drop did he understand that I wanted a gin lemon drop! Otherwise, our service was great! Thank you!
As always, a great place to dine with friends before the theater. Food was served so we could get out in time for our show.
Food, service, ambiance all good. Convenient for visiting Balboa Park. Inside dining was fine. Outside would have been better. They accommodated us earlier than our scheduled reservation.
The Prado is included in our annual visit to see a Shakespeare production at the Old Globe. It is about a two hundred mile round trip but worth the ride. Only thing that out shines the food is the service. It is a favorite of ours.
We loved our dinner. We had the filet with shrimp and the sea bass. Both were delicious
The Paella lacked authenticity and taste, should be improved or dropped from the menu. Server James was attentive and a pleasure.
We went on a Friday evening and the Park was mobbed at about 7 PM. We had 7:15 reservations and the patio was noisy at first, but it cleared out and was much more pleasant thereafter. A wonderful place to take business partners from out of town.
We were celebrating my girlfriend’s birthday. We both really enjoyed the restaurant!
My vegetarian risotto was amazing and we loved the view of the park and being outdoors. It was her birthday and, of course, they gave us a complimentary dessert for her.
My favorite part was getting a second glass of wine for $.10! (Yes! 10 cents!)
Anniversary dinner. The food and service was excellent.
I use Open Table when my family & friends eat out. I always appreciate the consideration for welcoming Open Table clients w/ in most cases immediate seating, service, and having an awesome staff. However, that was not the case at The Prado last night. Upon entering while I waited to be acknowledged & a male manager, came & told hostess that 2 tables were open. As I stood waiting for her to acknowledge me, another walk in w/o reservations step in front of me & was seated immediately. I told the hostess that I have an open table reservation & she told me I would have to wait. Then another walk in w/o reservations was seated immediately before me again😕. My family & friends sat in the bar area waiting, my friend asked again when we would be seated as we planned to a play @ The Old Globe . Finally, a hostess came to seat us & didn't know what table to seat us at, so again we all stood starting & waiting for a table & there were alot of empty tables btw. All of my party was upset w/ situation. We all recommend that the general manager look over training procedures as the front of the house exhibits poor training skills & how to treat Open Table clients & how important it is to trained staff who can quickly accommodate guests in this restaurant. I'll seriously have to do some thinking about returning to The Prado again 🤔
Always excellent! As one of the (great) Cohn Restaurant Group places, The Prado never disappoints!
The Prado is always enjoyable... a "go to" place. Good food,
service and ambience.
Menu is small with a few select choices. Quite pricey for the selections. Best feature is the location, but would not go again.
Always a pleasure eating at the outdoor dining area of Prado.
Neat place for lunch in Balboa Park
The Prado is always amazing, great service, great food and an amazing venue.
The meal was very good and the server at the table was very nice and helpful. HOWEVER, we had a very bad experience at the beginning: we had reservations for 7 pm and arrived about 8 minutes early. We were given a disk and told to wait - standing outside - until it was our time. When it was past 7 and nobody called us I went to ask what was the point of having a reservation and they apologized profusely, telling us we should have been seated. When we walked inside the restaurant we were very angry to see that half the tables were empty. A person who called himself the manager came to explain that they did not lead us to our table when we arrived to "avoid getting the kitchen staff stressed out". Obviously they need a different manager and maybe different kitchen staff. Unfortunately, this set the beginning of our anniversary celebration on a very bad tone. It was hard to relax after this "welcome" by the reception of The Prado
We had a fabulous dinner. Our waiter, Scott, was truly amazing. Ask for Scott if you dine here.
We had a great dinner. For our anniversary. Such great food and service and atmosphere.
Wonderful service! Sea bass dinner was delicious & new mixed drink choices are enticing!! Love this place!!
I recommend the Hibiscus KISS cocktail!!
Visiting Balboa Park and stopped off here. It was wonderful. The food was delicious. The service was top-notch. And I was able to eat on the terrace for an amazing view. It’s a must see/eat if passing through San Diego!
Decent experience. I had requested, via opentable, a nice table as my parents got married at the prado 38yrs ago and it was my moms bday that we were celebrating. Table was nothing special and it was obvious that they didn't know it was my moms bday. Just a little disappointing.
The ceiling of the room where we were seated was extraordinary.
Nice and quiet.
Ambiance and service good but food mediocre for the prices they charge.
it is a beautiful spot, eat outside, really lovely. food is wonderful had the seabass, delicious
Excellent service. They took great care of us, leaving us asking for nothing more. Oh and the food was great!
Wonderful food and drinks, and friendly staff. A great place to celebrate an occasion.
We love the Prado! The live music on the weekends is fun and the outdoor seating is very romantic for a date night
An excellent restaurant with fabulous service and really good food. Perfect before an evening at the Globe Theater and any evening indeed!
We often go to The Prado before theater at the Old Globe. I love the outdoor patio. The flavors of the food are always just a little different from the ordinary. The service is attentive, but unobtrusive. I have many happy memories of meals with friends there.
The outdoor eating area at the Prado continues to be a goreous location.
The food is beautifully presented but is fairly mediochre in quality.
Service was also mediochre. The server was friendly but not attentive.
The manager was helpful - but we should need to call her in order to get some of the basic services.
I was here a number of years ago and had a fabulous experience so this visit was disappointing.
Here's a tip. If you want a patio table you must call the restaurant directly. Booking through Open Table, even if requested, is not sufficient.
A friend and I were going to Museums in Balboa Park and The Prado is convenient with good food and service and nicely decorated . I had a nice Cobb salad with chicken and my friend had the Bratburger with beans and fries . Our Server Chris and the rest of the personnel were great. We asked about the glass art which was done for the Prado by a Seattle artist Martin Blank which was explained to us by one of the manager who came over to explain when we asked . We also chatted with the son , Jeremy Cohn, who of the Cohn Family who own several restaurants in San Diego County, and he spoke about Taco Liberdad their new non-profit restaurant which donates profits back to the community.
