Cailifornia cuisine paired with truly excellent service, unique ambiance, hand crafted decor and outdoor/indoor dining year round are just some of the reason's why we've won "most romantic" and "best special occasion" restaurant.

We made a reservation and we were seated within five minutes of our arrival. The hostess was pleasant and friendly. It took a while for our waitress to arrive, but she did bring our drinks quickly. I had to flag down other staff to get refills on my ice tea throughout our meal as Our waitress was hard to find. The kids meals were very poor. I would not suggest ordering kids meals there. It took literally 10 minutes for the waitress to bring a side of ranch dressing once we were able to find her and flag her down and ask. My meal was fantastic. We happen to sit outside on the patio and it was wonderful. The ambience was lovely There was the right amount of shade to sun ratio.
The Prado is a lovely place with GREAT food, great service, and an especially wonderful view if you're seated outside! I highly recommend the Prado for a special occasion or for treating visitors!
It was a disappointment. The pot stickers were cold and soggy. The surf and turf was overcooked and warm when served. The shrimp app. was very disappointing. The shrimp appeared to be the type out of a frozen bag wild caught from Whole Foods small in size. The plus Gloria Ferrer sparking wine was on the menu.
Birthday dinner for the wife. Perfect food perfect restaurant.
Great ambience, service and food
As usual a wonderful dinner at my very favorite restaurant. Always take out of town guests here.
Food and service were outstanding. The only flaw was the bitterness and chewy ness of the brussell sprouts.
We love the Prado. Every time we dine here for any reason or occasion it is always wonderful. Thank you for the great service and amazing food!!
Great food and our server was amazing. He wad very knowledgeable and every suggestion was perfect. I will eat there everytime I see a show at The Old Globe for sure!
We had a reservation. Arrived and seated on time, on the patio as requested. Beautiful view of the park! We got there at 5:15 and had a 7:00 concert to get to in the Japanese garden. We were done, had the check and paid by 6:30. Excellent service and delicious food.
Very satisfied except for the server greeting us by highly recommending cocktails. Almost 'pushing ' them. Hardly appropriate for an 11:45 lunch time.
Celebrated my girlfriend’s recent birthday
Love the location in Balboa Park. Cocktails and food are always a great choice to choose from. Service was attentive and kind. THANK YOU! We'll be back. :)
Had a 12:00 patio seating reservation and arrived at 11:45. Initially tried to seat us inside but we insisted we wanted the patio and were seated there (the patio was about 1/3 full at the time). We had studied the menu beforehand and after being seated ordered at 11:50. We were served 2 sets of crackers and hummus while waiting for our lunch. After 30 minutes, at 12:20, we flagged down the server who said she would check on our order. A few minutes later she brought out a bowl of complimentary black bean soup and apologized for the delay. Finally got served at 12:35. The order was correct, the meal was hot and was very good. However, we missed a performance at the Fleet Science Center we wanted to see at 1:00 and had to settle for a different performance at 2:00. We have eaten many times at this restaurant in the park (but not in the last few months) and have never had this delay in service. Hopefully this was a one-off and not indicative of future service.
The Prado restaurant is a beautifully decorated example of the Mission style of architecture. Our server, John, was funny, entertaining, and attentive. The menu has unique choices, which are just set, paired with a lovely wine and beer menu, as well as a selection of signature cocktails. Perfect for a celebratory experience.
We had a pre-theatre dinner. Our entrees came promptly and were as ordered. The menu lacks creativity but is dependable and a fair value. Always go there preceding the Old Globe. Reservation highly recommended.
Loved the Date night deal. Two salads, entrees and a bottle of wine for $50. Pork prime rib is great!
Good food and service. Sat outside and the view was so pretty. A bit pricey
Dinner at the Prado was excellent! The wines were outstanding and the braised short ribs were delicious. The service was great and the entire group enjoyed our evening. Would definitely recommend the Prado to anyone looking for a great restaurant in Balboa Park
Food was delicious, Spanish influence. Wait staff was great!
Very pleasant. No rush which was important for meeting friends we had not seen for seven years! Food was very tasty.
It’s very expensive to go there, not bad food or service but not spectacular
We enjoyed an absolutely wonderful dining experience at The Prado in Balboa Park. Everything we ordered was delicious including passion fruit and mint lemonades, crab and sea bass cakes and black bean soup, hearty portobello salad and pressed arugula salad, and the perfect last bite of dessert guava flan with kiwi and toasted coconut. High praise to the chef and staff and our excellent server, Patrick. Patrick made a beautiful day all the more so. We'll look forward to another trip.
The patio is a great place for lunch. The service is excellent, but the menu is boring. Perhaps I just go there too often.
Thank you for making my friend's birthday so memorable!
I recommend fir the lively ambience, but warn that the food was somewhat bland and a little overpriced.
Date Night is an excellent value. Both our meals and wine were delicious. We will definitely come to The Prado the next time we are in San Diego.
Great restaurant, friendly staff and excellent food.
The food and service were excellent. A loud family with a crying baby was distracting.
Great food paired with friendly service. Variety of entrees to choice from.
The Prado is always lovely and consistent. Terrific for lunch or dinner. We always go to the Prado before the Museum of Art! Highly recommend.
Very beautiful place. Good is superb. The ambiance is excellent. I wished I ordered the dessert.
The Prado is a gem. There are no bad Cohn restaurants, but the location and history of The Prado set it in its own class. Our favorite meal starts with the Prado Pressed Arugula Salad followed by the Pork Prime Rib. One dish is enough for both of us. The patio is great for a romantic lunch or dinner.
Great service, nice ambience and decor. Definitely worth a visit. Our food (paellla and risotto) was adequate, not great. Have had better meals there so may have just been an off night. Oddly, the place was near empty after 8 on a Friday. One couple in the entire bar area on our way out.
We were seated right away with our reservation and had a great lunch with very good service. I love the menu here and always have trouble choosing which item I want to order. I’m never disappointed.
The setting, the food, and the service were excellent. The noise level for the outdoor seating was good so that I could visit with friends without having to shout. I love the Prado. Please keep up the great work.
Service was very good. Hostess, bartender and waiter courteous, professional and helpful. Decent wine list, creative cocktails and well designed menu options. Our wine pairings were on point and the ambience was perfect for a special occasion. There were three of us in our party and each ordered something different. The pork prime rib was unfortunately incredibly overdone but the sauce helped. The ribeye was cooked beautifully but the sauce did not go with the steak; Almost as if someone grabbed the chicken sauce and dressed the steak. The steak was not overly seasoned but when eaten with the green beans it was divine. The surf and turf (salmon and steak) was modest in size but the fish was cooked perfectly and perched on top of mashed beet. The steak rested on mashed potatoes in a lovely presentation. Dessert was delightful and a nice end to the meal.
The sea bass was delicious. The last three times I have been there I order the sea bass. I commented to my
friend that we could hear each other!! It was a treat to be able to hear each other speak
Outdoor area is nice but a bit cramped. Food is good.
My table was a little in the sun but the restaurant was busy. Very nice wait person.
