Never a disappointment! Always outstanding service, food, and ambiance! Great place to bring out of town guests and friends and family!
It was great! We had the perfect spot, right be the window, lighting, chill ambience... perfect for a date. Food was great! Had the duck and rib eye... and i never had it that way in other places. Dessert was ok could be better. Wine selections are great. Servers and hosts are nice. Its a bit pricey but worth all of it.
We celebrated a Birthday. The food and service were wonderful. The ambiance was great.
Will go there again.
The ambiance was wonderful and the food was great. I had the potstickers, crab cake and salmon. My other family members had the ribeye, black bean soup, pasta. We all enjoyed our meals.
The food was good. I tried ordering from the dinner menu, but was told i could not. A bit disappointed about this. Service was excellent though.
Terrible food. Two people had cheese sandwich with tomato soup, one had Rueben sandwiche and one had veggie burger. The only thing any good were the French fries. Service was very slow. The food was expensive and barely edible. And I took out of town friends there! Never again. The food at this restaurant should be high quality, why isn't it??
our lunch was delicious and our waiter was super. my apologies for not remembering his name, but he was tall with a slight beard. we were there on Wednesday the 16th at 2:30pm. we ate out by the fountain, which I hope helps you know who it was. he is the kind of waiter everyone should have. five stars for him.
We have a new tradition of having dinner at The Prado before seeing plays at The Old Globe Theater in Balboa Park. We especially enjoy the Date Night menu, as you get salads, two entrees, and a bottle of wine for a very reasonable price. The food is always delicious! Our waiter was especially attentive, and made sure that we were ready to leave with plenty of time to get to our theater showing. We especially like the salmon, short ribs, and sea bass entrees. The shrimp cocktail is also excellent, served with a cucumber/jicama salad that's very tasty. Desserts are scrumptious! We like the chocolate mousse cake with marshmallow ice cream, and the creme brulee. I have limited mobility, and the staff is always attentive to my special needs. There is an elevator so that guests in wheelchairs can enjoy the beautiful patio seating.
My friend and I had a wonderful experience here at lunch. From the women at the reception table through to the dessert, it was a memorable time. The restaurant is in a lively setting and the food was delicious. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. We will both definitely return.
Wonderful food and acceptation service with a patio view that is amazing!!!
Fabulous food + amazing atmosphere + superior service.
Martinis and sea bass entree were fantastic, as always. Love the ambiance. We had a pineapple cobbler type dessert, and I thought the fruit ought to have been cooked longer to caramelize it a bit, but that is a minor observation. The Prado is a longtime favorite for dates and family occasions.
The atmosphere was great but the food was marginal - shrimp was overcooked, chicken was dry, and the beef was tough.
Lovely meal, beautiful setting and always a win! Would dine more often if you had some specials or other reduced prices. We are locals and live nearby. It’s a super tourist attraction but don’t forget the locals! Thanks!
Friends from out of town joined us at The Prado. One of our fave places to take out of town guests.
We were seated at a lovely table outside, as I requested. Everything was lovely. Friendly waiter, delicious food, tasty cocktails; all around great time. We can't wait to go back and try some other menu items.
As always, The Prado was just great! This time I was on the patio which is a big plus to the overall experience! I think I have visited this place for 6 years every time when I come to San Diego and never been disappointed.
Great place to eat in Balboa Park. Celebrated birthday dinner after a day of visiting the park and museums.
Very good food. It's a little pricey, but the food is high quality so the prices are justified. It was a bit noisy when we were there (Saturday night) but the noise wasn't deafening. Efficient and friendly service.
Loved it! Wonderful dinner!
The food was nothing special. The steak was filet was terriable. Very disappointed
Had an excellent visit, was a beautiful evening out on the outside patio. Had Chile Relleno there for the first time and it was great and the lobster bucatini which also is always very nice. Drinks good and overall a great value and surprised how low bill was.
Please add some new items to your menu.
Everything was beautiful. The staff was pleasant and the food was great. We sat outside and had a perfect birthday lunch for my mother.
Great food and service by Nicholas was outstanding.
My pork chop with mustard was awesome!
Good food, good service great location.
We were married here 25 years ago, so it will always be a special place for us. The table we were given right at the front entrance was not great for the special occasion we were having. But the wait staff could not have been nicer. Food was very good as is expected with the CRG, nothing wow this time, but very good.
Very nice restaurant, service was good. I made a request on my reservation in which they honoured. Great place for a date or just a family dinner.
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here and went to a play at the Old Globe afterward. This turned out to be both pleasant and convenient. The staff and our waiter were friendly and attentive. Complementary dessert was much appreciated. I had salmon and she had the short ribs. The entrees and drinks were very good, but the sides were not exciting. It was a Friday night and very busy; it was so noisy that it was challenging to talk.
Took clients to the Prado before the play at the Old Globe. Perfect San Diego experience.
Server did not warn salad dressing was quite spicy. Food was OK but not great for the price. This property benefits from tourists and nearby theatre goers. Not such a great place for local folks who desire great food at a value price in a dining room you can hear yourself talk.
Always good with lots of atmosphere and tasty food. Easy to have conversations in comfortable setting
Wonderful food and service, as usual. This is the only restaurant where I order a pork chop.
Three of us had them and they were terrific. The fourth had paella which was excellent.
Love the outdoor seating on the patio. Very good food, and the service was fantastic. Highly recommend.
Lovely restaurant in Balboa Park, Latin So Cal cuisine
Reservation worked perfectly. We were greeted and seated about 5 minutes later. Initial service was good - friendly server.
However, food was not so great. My friend who ordered tortilla soup said the chicken was tough and she wasn't even sure what it was. My other friend who ordered a salad with shrimp said the shrimp was overcooked. And, my salad came without the hazelnuts. I had to flag down the server to get that corrected.
It was a crowded night before a play and the service after our order was taken was slow. And, as I said above, I had to flag down the server. Also, once our food came my friends wanted a glass of wine, but by the time I flagged down the server they weren't in the mood any longer - having eaten half of their entrees.
It's a lovely setting and good for a casual lunch or happy hour. But, I can't recommend dinner in the dining room. It leaves much to be desired.
Fun night. Excellent service
Atmosphere, service and food were great. Beautiful day in the park! Best skinny margarita ever.
