The food is excellent, the ingredients unique to the area. Every item is excellent and shareable. You will want to try every item on the menu. The wine list is exceptional.
Ate at the Pour House twice on our recent trip to Maui. Once while staying at Kapalua and once while staying at Kaanapali. We really enjoyed it both times. Food was excellent, wine selection was very good, and prices were reasonable for Hawaii. What we enjoyed the most was the ambiance, which was relaxed and relatively quiet. There was live instrumental guitar music playing the whole time, but you could still easily talk.
Location is next door to Sansei, so not too far from anywhere on the west side of Maui. It wasn't crowded, but I suggest reservations just to be sure you don't have to wait. The place is not huge so it will get more crowded as word gets out.
The owners are amazing people, service is intimate and top notch!
Wonderful gem. Great aloha service by Lara and bartender Brandon. Vocal talents of Tom. We enjoyed many tasteful and well prepared ( slightly over seasoned) - succulent Shrimp cocktail - white anchovies crostini - smoked chicken & mozzarella raviolis - and a creamy silly pan a cotta. A nice evening away from Ritz Carlton
Excellent salads and the pasta was delicious. Sure it’s a little pricey, but the quality was much better than a lot a places we tried on Maui. We’d highly recommend it!
Our server recommended the dinner special only to tell us they were out. It was only 6:30pm. How could they be out already?? Plus the wine selection is very pricey. Food was unimpressive. Overall a disappointing experience.
Not great for kids
This was literally a drive-by in the Kapalua area when we noticed a restaurant we had not been to. Reservations were easy to make online. We were beyond pleased start to finish!! Live guitar entertainment was an added bonus! Staff was very on top of service and attention to detail. One glitch if you’re making reservations online is that they offer you “Standard Seating” or “Premium Seating”. We chose standard. Once at the restaurant it appeared that ALL seating was premium!! When we asked the staff about the online categories and the difference, they were clueless and had no idea why those options were even listed. So, plan to get the royal treatment regardless of where your table is located!! They do have a category for “Outside Seating” which is very well done.
Loved the concept of a burrata bar, pairing this cheese with different nuts, greens, other meats, etc. The cheese was melt in your mouth. Wished we had time to return to taste the pastas and other Italian specialties. A nice departure from fish and sunsets. Great jazz music. Sat on the porch. Loved the quiet vibe.
We enjoyed our meatball appetizer very much. My husband enjoyed his raviolis. While I like my spaghetti with clams, there was way too much garlic and I'm hoping the chef just got carried away the other day. We also enjoyed the live guitar music. This is a lovely little restaurant. My next comment applies not only to this restaurant but to all the upscale restaurants on Maui. I fully realize that it costs a lot to get some things, including alcohol, to Maui. But I really object to paying more for a glass of wine than the price of a full bottle of the same wine on the mainland. Because I had grown tired of trying to find a Mai Tai equal to the bottled Trader Vic's version that we always buy for our condo when on Maui, I switched back to Chardonnay the last couple of nights we were on Maui. The prices are outrageous, and I say this after having checked the price of a bottle of our favorite wine in the Napili Market. The price there was only about 5% higher than we pay on the mainland which leads me to believe we are being gouged on wine on Maui. We live in a high-rent neighborhood here in California, so it's not like we have never seen high dining costs before. But it seems Maui is over the top regarding wine.
We ate outside. Very pleasant setting, comfortable chairs, excellent service, and we could hear the entertainer inside, who was great. Plan to go back next visit.
The small plate burrata and honey was delicious! The smoked chicken ravioli was a huge disappointment by comparison. Way too salty to enjoy. My husband’s meatballs tasted “smoked”, which we weren’t a fan of either. Neither of us enjoyed our entire. Strong start with a mediocre finish. Service was pretty good.
Great family time on stay cation
Menu sounded great, but when food came, the pasta dish was sticky, like rice, and lacked adequate (dry),not moist at all. We were celebrating our 49th Anniversary, staff made a big deal when we were seated, but when we said no to ordering dessert, they gave us our check without any mention of our anniversary. The couple behind us, receive two birthday desserts!!!!
Food was better than expected for the location. Serving sizes were on the smaller side.
Extensive wine list and excellent food. Could improve on their hostess capabilities.
Appetizers and drinks were excellent. Staff was wonderful. Main courses were mediocre.
Nice quiet little hideout. Great meal
This was by far my favorite meal on the island. Very much farm to table, and upscale a the same time. I highly recommend adding this to your plans.
Our last night on Maui after 2 weeks on the island. Dinner was fabulous. Lamb Chops were delicious.
Excellent in all ways, the ingredients are outstanding. Be sure to try the buratta cheese; it is so good. Great place to eat family style so that you can tase as many dishes as possible. There is an excellent wine list to choose from.
Great food, service and ambiance!!! We would highly recommend!
The food was delicious, and the staff was attentive and so kind! We will defiantly be back!
This restaurant was the most pleasant surprise on our trip to Maui. We found it online when we looked for restaurants in Kaanapali. Both the seafood pasta dish I had and the chicken pasta dish my wife had were outstanding. The service was excellent and owner/chef came out to meet us and thank us for coming. Can't wait to try other Items on the menu on our next trip to Maui.
The server had to be reminded twice about my sons drink. The food was saturated in garlic, overbearing actually. My pasta was dry. The place is adorable though and the guitar player/singer was awesome!
This is the best restaurant on Maui. Food is outstanding coupled with great service. Music is also best we have listened to on the island. The restaurant is a gem not to be missed.
Food was not good. Bruschetta was not toasted - soft squishy bread. Chopped salad not chopped. Meatballs taste funny. Very quiet which is nice but few people in there so seemed vacuous. Skip it.
We LOVED the Pour House. Laura (owner), greeted us and seated us and checked on us frequently. The wine selection was superb. The food was amazing top.....I had the 5 cheese tortellini and loved it. Would recommend this to anyone who loves good Italian food. We will be back.
They sat us immediately, brought out our drinks, appetizer, and main course quickly. Food was incredible! Best pesto I’ve ever had!
The food was excellent, and pricey like all restaurants in Maui. My wife and I were full after ordering two appetizers and two entrees. If you are looking for a dining experience above a Hula Grill or lelani’s, try The Pour House Italian Kitchen.
The place was quaint and they had great live music when we visited but the food (and drinks) were overpriced for what they were. The burrata was delicious but the pasta fell short. Mine lacked flavor and although it was a decent portion I would have expected to be blown away by a $30 bowl of pasta.
The Pour House was a pleasant surprise! We started with bruschetta made with burrata which was excellent. The spaghetti with clams was amazing as were all the entrees we had, which I caused the spaghetti and meatballs and the spicy seafood pasta. Our server was attentive and really nice. We will definitely be back!
Hostess treated us very well. We had requested outdoor seating but the live music was a little loud so she reseated us inside. It was our anniversary so we received a complementary dessert which was very good. Appetizer was very good, main course was good but nothing spectacular. Good wine list.
This was an awesome new find. We did not know it was there until it was recommended by a friend. Give it a try.
All I have to say is Gnats everywhere. Yuck. For the amount of money they charge for a glass of wine, they should fix their gnat problem. They blamed it on the climate and weather, but we ate next door and no problem. Close the doors and turn the AC on, maybe the issue will get resolved.
Food and service was so great and a breath of fresh air for dining on Maui!
Food was cold, over priced for mediocre Italian food. Food took a long time to come out. Seems like they have a lot of kinks to work out. Don’t waste your money bringing your family.
Great food! Two of us are vegan and they made us a custom pasta dish for our entree... it was awesome!
Great family dinner there. We loved all our food and enjoyed speciality wine recommendations . The atmosphere was fun and intimate. It’s easy to park and enjoy a quick meal or meet for date night. Wish we lived westside to eat there more often. A great meal and service and the portions just right to try all the wonderful courses
Food and atmosphere were outstanding. Owner is super nice and friendly . Burrata. Is amazing !!
