About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Good for special occasions
  • Kid-friendly
The entire family is sure to enjoy Savannah's most intriguing & historic restaurant. At the Pirates' House, our most precious treasure is the food. Situated in Trustees Garden, merely a scant block from the Savannah River, the Famous Pirates' House is the most historic spot in Georgia. The Herb House, erected in 1734, located inside the Pirates' House, is said to be the oldest house in Georgia. The Pirates' House first opened in 1753 as an inn for seafarers and fast became a meeting point for blood-thirsty pirates & sailors. Parking on site.

The Pirate’s House is a great place for many reasons. A unique ambience with rich history. Terrific food priced reasonably. Best sweet tea in town. Very family friendly place with great service.

We had reservations and were seated promptly. Food was great, but and our drinks were average and not worth the penny. Our server Mandy was super nice and amiable. We even got a house tour by their in-house pirate. Overall the experience was good

She Crab soup was great! Kids and adult portions were big. Ask for 'the tour' after you eat. Our tour guide was fun and funny. Kids enjoyed 'looking for ghosts'.

Tilapia was excellent, and the fried shrimp was cooked too long, rubbery. Was very loud. Staff was friendly.

We’ve been coming to Savannah for a few years now and finally got to try out the Pirates House and it did not disappoint! I had the honey pecan fried chicken with sweet mashed potatoes and green beans. Probably the best fried chicken I’ve had in years! We all enjoyed our meals and the whole vibe was awesome. Will definitely go back.

Food was blah. Fried green tomatoes were so-so. We got the famous fried chicken and it was just ok. The atmosphere was cool with the pirates and haunted tales but not a place to go for the food.

The Pirates House can be such a fun experience. The food is good ( we had honey pecan chicken) - would recommend! Our server was terrific - friendly and knowledgeable. Sadly, the seating and guest management ruined our experience. There were 2 of us for an early dinner. The hostess seated us in one of the small, quaint rooms. Before we had even ordered, they seated a loud family of 5 next to us… and shortly thereafter, seated another table of their friends in the same room. The kids were screaming to each other, running around, throwing things. We could not even hear each other so we rushed thru our dinner and left. It was not that busy at 530 on a Thursday night. The hostess could have been much more considerate in seating ( and the parents more considerate for sure.). Its a fun place … and glad the kids had fun ( our kids would have enjoyed it when they were younger).. but would not recommend. (If we go again, we may ask to sit at the bar)

Our favorite restaurant out of three in Savannah. Solidly good food and service. Appropriate prices - nice value. The best parts were the pirate hat, earring, mustache and eye patch, and the gift shop.
