The Petersham

Food was sublime, even the vegetarian options which can sometimes be a but unimaginative. The setting is very pretty, both the dining room and courtyard. Decent atmosphere even though numbers were clearly down given the corona virus issue. It is expensive, there's no getting away from it, but it was delicious - we all need a treat, try it!

Our food was very mediocre the polenta was sloppy, snd all our food was very unflavoursome. We wouldn’t mind the price if it was quality and delicious but it wasn’t. So disappointing.

Beautiful atmosphere and decor. Perfect for a birthday lunch and surprisingly baby friendly. The food was delicious and the staff were very attentive. Highly recommend.

Wonderful evening meal, the ambience and service were spot on and complimented by food which tempted visually and met everyone’s wishes on the palette, not an easy thing as some of our group are very demanding people.
The staff could not have done more and everyone in our group of 6 is planning a return visit, perfect for many types of dining and would have no hesitation in recommending The Petersham.
Congratulations to the team there for their execution, it shows that from front of house through to kitchen and servers the whole team are united in delivering an excellent experience. Thank you all for a memorable evening, aiming to return soon.

Beautiful setting with very attentive waiting staff and great quality food

I would thoroughly recommend The Petersham Covent Garden, we had the pre- theatre set menu, the service was excellent, attention to detail superb and fining dining at a very reasonable price.

Lovely restaurant however not a great choice if you have allergies.

Love the decor and ambiance.
Delectable 3 course meal.
Need to come back and try the ala carte .

Delicious meal in a beautiful setting. We had the tasting menu which was fantastic. One of the courses was slow coming out of the kitchen but this was dealt and compensated without us even having to mention anything so 10/10 service. Waiting staff all very friendly and chatty. Really enjoyed was would 100% recommend!

The venue is just lovely. The menu was good. The service was appalling. The bread arrived after the starter was cleared. The main course was delayed by an hour. One of the vegetables order arrived as we finished the main course. The place did discount the bill but we had traveled from Dublin to celebrate a family event. What a disappointment . Deirdre Lyons

The quality of the food was well prepared and the restaurant is nicely designed. However the service was a bit frenetic and the staff not very well trained. The biggest complaint was the value of that food. For a £36 main of venison, the portion was less than 70grams. Two tiny morsels on a large plate. Not well presented. I door with the staff, and they were disinterested and unhelpful. We were there for a romantic evening, so we didn’t want to make a fuss, so it was truly disappointing. I would have gladly paid more for a proper portion. Left hungry with a damper on the whole evening.

we had to re re order a few things, the service was a bit slow. The overal experience was good but the sides came after we had finished our mains. The Tea pots took forever to come The bread we had to order after being sat 40 min

We really enjoyed our first visit to The Petersham. The restaurant is in a lovely setting and well decorated inside. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, without rushing us and the quality of the food was excellent. We intend to return to sample more dishes.

My husband’s birthday. The food and service were fantastic. We had one side dish that we didn’t really like and it was removed from our bill without question. Overall Ambiance added to the experience as well.

Experience didn’t live up to higher end positioning and pricing. Restaurant is noisy. Service could have been better. Had the tasting menu, mostly good but some definite misses. Bad idea for a later reservation.

The service was a bit slow but the sommelier was great. Over all a bit expensive but fine if you have something to celebrate. Just need the proper occasion.

I came here for the pre-theatre menu with my fiancé to celebrate my 30th birthday. The meal was incredible and service was outstanding - I was made to feel very special :)

Food is good but very small portions for the cost

Billed as 'Fine Dining' the experience fell short on a number of fronts. The wines are as overpriced as many establishments in the West End and the food whilst goodish was nothing to enthuse over. But it was the service that let them down. Placing the right dishes in front of diners is just a fundamental part of a restauranteur's craft and they haven't cracked it. Poor show.

It was my mother’s birthday and they made the meal really special, giving recommendations and advice on what works best with the food. They also placed us in the back with our own little table off to the side of everything so it felt a little more private - not sure if that was intended or not but it made it more special. All in all an amazing place to eat and celebrate!

Beautiful setting, but didn't think the pre-theatre menu was very good value. Also, not a lot of choice on the menu. Service was ok. Our waiter was a bit arrogant, a bit too quick and not very attentive. Seemed to be too busy elsewhere. The sommelier was very good and helped us to select an excellent, although quite pricey wine.

I thought the venue was beautiful but I was disappointed with the menu choices and felt it was very expensive.

I took my girlfriend for Valentines. I chose it as the restaurant in Richmond was one of our best ever meals and, surprisingly, this came up on search for good Italian food, her favourite.
I wouldn't compare it to Richmond as the setting there is very special, but I was expecting the food to be similar in quality. I actually complained about my monkfish starter after searching for any kind of flavour but finding none. The fish simply tasted of water despite the plate looking beautiful.
They didn't have the main I wanted anymore so I was recommended another fish option which was not bad. My girlfriends food was better to be fair, risotto was tasty and pasta also nice.
My review might be a touch harsh, but these days if I'm spending £125 per head I'm used to really loving the food. It may have been a bad night to order fish, but overall I was a little disappointed.

Firstly, it was Valentines night and generally restaurants are not at their best those evenings as often the regular guests are not there and the ambience different. This evening felt like it always feels, the level of service was some of the best we have experienced, the food perfectly cooked, timed and served. Together with excellent wines and assistance from the sommelier. Cannot recommend this place more, and the Sicilian staff were amazing. Thank you..

The Petersham, please look at improving the training of your waiting team. Good service is easy, great service is an art and for the price on your menu, a necessity.

Our disappointment 5/5

A beautiful spot to dine, close to Covent Garden. Food and service are excellent, but very pricey. The wine list is a bit of a challenge to decipher, very focused on Italian wine, with "international" options few and expensive.

The food and ambiance were good but the prices of the wines were exploitative. The cheapest bottles were about £45 and most of the wine list was priced at £70 +. Offering very expensive wine is fine but please give customers the option of buying wine at around £20-25 per bottle as with most good restaurants. We did pay for wine at £50 a bottle but we won’t be doing this again. Feeling exploited is never good!

We really enjoyed both food and ambience. Service was outstanding and all of the staff were so helpful and attentive. Love the attention to detail throughout this restaurant, you can tell everything was thought about. Possibly on a pricey side but you do get the value. Food was very good and we had such a great time.

Excellent food and really pretty venue. Our waiter was really efficient and very nice. I cannot remember his name but he was from Sicily.
Dover Sole was superb.

The food was great and it’s a beautiful restaurant but the service was snooty and condescending and really disappointing, especially given the cost.

A lovely evening and our waiter, his third day on the job, was so attentive and lovely, I wish I could remember his name. We loved the decor too. Definitely will be returning !
