The food was delicious and super creative. I loved being able to see the kitchen and how well it was run.
I think the restaurant was understaffed that day at the front of the house. We had food served to us without explanation. My wine glass also sat empty for an entire course. The part of the meal I really wanted to enjoy with my wine... I had to flag down a food runner to get another glass. It was also our anniversary and they didn’t do anything special besides print “happy anniversary” on our menu card. Maybe my expectations were too high?
Very special but the food wasn’t exquisite. A lot of it was overlooked or just tasted off. Very interesting ingredients.
Amazing food amazing service. A little pricey if you add the extra 2 dishes and the pairings, but you know what to expect in regards to price. The service was extremely fast once a dish was finished there was a comfortable amount of time before the next was served. All wines paired perfectly with the dishes, the staff was very educated in the sourcing of the wines. A definite must try if your looking for a truly unique experience.
I have never had a bad meal here. They truly make food and dining interesting and every experience here is truly unique. The staff are very courteous and very knowledgeable as well which makes the experience very worthwhile.
It is a nice place for your special event. The food is great. The place is quite. The service is excellent.
Took my girlfriend to The Pass for her birthday. It was our first time there (we had eaten at Provisions before). The Pass was an amazing experience. Excellent and warm service from the staff. Quiet atmosphere. The food was better than I could have hoped for. Delicious and filling. The drink pairings made it an even more unique experience. I have zero regrets. My gf and I wish we could dine there every night. We felt kind of bad that we were the last ones in the restaurant, but the staff was still respectful and kind.
It was the best experience!!! The food and wine were excellent!!! Looking forward to returning.
We celebrated our 39th wedding anniversary with the Tasting menu consisting of 7 different tastings to include the wine pairings for me and cocktail pairings for my wife. The Grille Oysters were delicious and the Summer Salad was delightful. Next we had the Butternut Squash Bread which had Reading Raclette cheese melted in the center and it was undoubtedly the best squash we have ever had. We calmed down with Chips and Guac containing Avocado, smoked Trout roe and Picked Red Onion, then had the Tagliatelle with Uni and Abalone along with Miso and Seaweed. The latter tasted much better than it reads. We finished the main meal with the Duck Breast tasting containing Chanterelles. Finally we ended our meal with the desert called Coconut which was made of Vanilla, Kaffir, and Grilled Pineapple. Now each course had wonderfully matched wines or cocktails so we were very satiated and satisfied by the end of our meal. Great food and service with the kitchen very transparent so we could watch the pros making these delicious tastings. We highly recommend THE PASS and note that the tastings change all the time so you won't get tired of the same food each visit..
Truly exceptional. A meal beyond all expectations. Expensive - but worth every single penny.
A dining experience not to be missed.
Everything from the ambiance to the staff to the food was excellent. The attention to details was clearly visible. This was our first time at The Pass, and I hope it won’t be our last.
The Pass is a pleasant experience all around. Noise does not carry over from The Provisions. The tasting menu and wine pairing are excellent. My only negative is the tables were a bit large so it was hard to hear my date.
What an experience this was! Highly recommend this hidden gem. Great service and fantastic food!
good for fine dining and date night
delightful! Perfect service and the food was amazing. This is a great place to celebrate and enjoy culinary perfection!! Highly recommend.
I know this place has been around for awhile (5/6 years) but with a 2 and 5 year old at home, we are a bit out of the loop these days (literally and figuratively.) A work friend suggested this place to celebrate my recent birthday and I am so glad they did. Dining here was AN EXPERIENCE. The service was, hands down, top of the pile. I was also delighted with the menu which was unique. My favorite things were probably the goat cheese, watermelon, tomato salad & the coconut ice cream vanilla dessert. Without reservation, I would also recommend adding the wine pairings to your meal. Loved kicking off our dinner with the Champagne and Oysters as well. Can't wait to come back and discover what other treats the chefs/owners have in store.
We had not been back to the Pass, for some time, but I’m scratching my head as to why that is. Food, service, ambiance were all top notch. Nice view into the kitchen is always fun. Quality and creativity of the food were excellent. Tasting menu was not too much food and we left “just right.” We tried the cocktail pairing (actually not just cocktails on it) and it was spot on. Room was great for conversation.
Friend’s birthday but they had nothing special for her— not even a candle for her dessert.
The manager seemed to be a bit arrogant when I told him the pasta was a bit salty although the dessert was great. If you don’t mean it, don’t ask about how the meal was.
Absolutely one of the best dining experiences ever.
The wait was unnecessary long in that we got the district impression that drinks were obligatory. As we’re not drinkers, it was a rather long 35 minutes. Following, we did get a good table and the menu printed with Happy Anniversary was a nice touch but, the service was again slow. Oddly, we lost our server mid meal which was awkward. Had to ask for bread which was, the highlight of the meal.
Tasting menus are generally small in portions and The Pass did not disappoint our expectations here either. Small yet very challenging dishes that were well prepared and presented.
All in all, it’s a nice facility, the food is creative and the atmosphere is young and lively. It’s easy to see why this place has been lauded and praised but, after all the waiting and confusion during service, it’s not likely we’ll make it back soon.
Lastly, by the time my wife and I got home, we were both in early stage gastric distress. Not good. Not sure what it was/is.
Our second experience was just as good as the first time we visited. Consistently good dishes on the tasting menu paired with excellent wines.
Wonderful experience. Meticulous service, insightful guidance, wonderful pairings, and exquisitely crafted ambiance. The entry doors, calm kitchen, and cocktail pairings were memory creators. The oysters and halibut were stand outs in a dinner of stars. The tagliatelle preparation was the best I’ve had anywhere, including top restaurants of Tuscany.
The Pass is always a fantastic experience. Every time I go, I am blown away by everything. The staff is incredibly professional, polite, and personable. The food is always stunning, innovative, and, most importantly, delicious. The whole experience is amazing!
Well crafted tasting menu and wine pairings Service was exceptional However the entrees were the not as good as the other offerings
It was a remarkable way to spend our anniversary. The only thing better than the food was the service, being taken care of by 4-5 well versed and hospitable people really made the experience for my husband and I. The take home item at the end of the meal also put a smile on my face and find memory in my mind.
The food was mediocre with very little flavor. It felt like they tried too hard to make the food and wine pairings work.
Went for a special occasion. Expecting it to be an expensive meal - which it was - but worth it. Very creative, inventive but delicious menu options, great attentive service, open kitchen adds great ambiance.
Ambiance was great! Service was also very good. We wanted to take the night a little bit slower than the server did but that’s okay. Food was a bit overrated.
I think because the service was so good/fair it’s worth rating. But the portions were so ridiculous small
The Pass has a super cool atmosphere and very good food. You order a certain number of courses. The food is gorgeous and the presentation is amazing. The food is tasty, but it's a very small amount of food, and I always leave a little hungry (but it's better than leaving so full you can't move). I think everyone should try it at least once, but you won't come here more than once a year.
Service was great. Food was very good. There were many in training which caused some troubles but we were happy.
My husband and I went to The Pass to celebrate my birthday. We opted for the full tasting menu (vs. the HRW shortened version). Not sure if we just hit it on an off night since I had heard so many good things but our reservation was delayed, then the service was super slow. We didn't have a single person waiting on us instead it was always someone new so we always felt a little forgotten between courses. The food was good but not great. Loved the wine suggestion, that was the highlight!
Outstanding! Went for Houston Restaurant Week. Interesting and tasty! Service is impeccable. We were able to take our time and relish every bite. The cocktail and wine pairings were also top-notch. And a surprise to take home.
Wonderful service and wonderful food. I felt the service was impeccable! We felt well taken care of and the food was delicious!!! Thank you for making my Birthday wonderful!!!!
Great first time! Will definitely come back when the menu changes
Valiant effort to make creative food for restaurant week. But I'd pass on the Pass.
This is one of the best restaurants in Houston! Terrence and Seth are amazing chefs.
Excellent ambiance. Good service. Mediocre, at best, food.
I expect that their rating are going down throughout HRW. Thats because the experience is totally overrated. I've dined in pretty much all the top restaurants in town and I can tell you this has been a disappointment. A mere fact that the presentation is unusual does not defy the fact that the food is tasteless. One does not need to create the opposite consistencies of food to get something good and unusual out of it. All I can suggest to the chef is take out all the sodium from the food, taste it, then re-evaluate it.
My husband and I chose The Pass for a special occasion. We’d been waiting for over two years before an ocassion appropriate enough arose. We were expecting more intimacy and more interaction with the chef/team than we received. Our expectation was a dining experience rather than just dinner. We didn’t get that and were fairly disappointed, especially since we’d “saved” the visit for such a big moment. It felt like any other dinner, although the food (of course) was far better and creative than elsewhere.
We had been to the Pass before and really enjoyed it, but did not enjoy our experience this time. It might have been due to it being restaurant week, but it was noisy and we felt rushed through our meal. We didn’t enjoy the food much, especially for the price. I likely won’t return which is disappointing since we enjoyed it so much the last time we went.
Overrated and high inprice
