The Palm Houston

In our estimation this dinner was not up to the normal Palm standards. Welcoming was warm and very friendly. Server was relatively new and a bit unsure of himself. This was a special menu combining lobster and steak. The lobster was good but the steak was over seasoned and dry. Not up to the standards we have come to know and expect at The Palm.
Great food and amazing service
Sometimes The Palm is hit and miss in terms of food taste. Big lobsters, for example, aren’t always the most tasty. The situation doesn’t improve if they have been overcooked. This visit, however, even if it was busy because of Valentine’s Day, was excellent, everything!! We were so happy and content ... thanks to all who made our special night so enjoyable.
The night was off to a bad start and we should have left because we were ignored for the first 20 minutes after we were seated. We had to stand in the walkway to get a waiter to make eye contact and get our drink order. 15 minutes later we got our drinks then waited for anouther 15 minutes to place our order. They were not busy just slow. Our salad and bisque (lobster flavored - no lobster) arrived on time. When our steaks arrived my wife go the end cut that had a huge white stripe of gristle in the middle. We flagged down a manager who apologized and took it back to get another steak. My wife and I split my steak while we waited on her steak. Once we were done with mine we had to flag down the waiter, who was surprised she did not have a steak. He appeared shortly after with a Rare steak - we ordered Medium Rare Plus... He took it back to the kitchen and returned in 10 minutes with a Burnt, Chared - Extra Well Done. We flagged down the manager again and she apologized again. We sent the steak back and she offered us a crab cake as a replacement. ... This was my wife's birthday! When the bill came the waiter said that if it was up to him he would have taken care of the bill - instead of the manager just too off my wife's steak.
Kenneth was knowledgeable and attentive
The food was good not spectacular considering the price. Also restaurant definitely needs to be upgraded.
Wonderful dinner celebrating a birthday. Greeted warmly and were seated at our favorite booth. We had a 5 pound lobster for our appetizer. The linguine and white clam sauce was served seasoned well with garlic and herbs. Full portion served very warm and al dente. Steak and wild mushrooms delicious. Carrot cake for dessert enough for two and very satisfying. Thanks Leslie for remembering my birthday!!
This is one of the premier steak houses in Houston which speaks volumes because Houston has A lot to choose from. The Palm also has an awesome lunch menu!!
All staff was very attentive and pleasant from the Valet guy to the waiters to the manager that stopped by our table. Crab cakes were excellent. Lobster bisque was a little salty and minimal amount of lobster but was still delicious!
Excellent dinner. I usually only go for lunch with my team from work and am always very happy with the service and the food. Recently, they have been having some excellent specials. Burger and Beer (lunch special) and that burger was so good! The dinner special of Filet and Alaskan King Crab brought me back for dinner the next week and wow, was it ever good! Service is top notch there also! Keep up the great work!
We had another great experience good good snd wonderful service. We love their steaks the best in town.
Food very good. Server same. Took over 30 minutes for food after ordering.
Excellent broiled lobster.
The service is slow for the number of people in this place.
Our overall experience was amazing. Food was superb, wait staff went above and beyond.
Everything was A+!
Food was really good, all of us enjoyed the lunch special, and two of us had the excellent filet. The service was goofy, however. Even though the restaurant was far from full, the starters came out at separate times, the waiter went MIA with the bill at the end. Expect better services, but the food did make up for it.
I've been a fan of The Palm for 45 years and it used to be my favorite restaurant bar none. When the next generation took over it started sliding downhill. I don't know if it's "new" ideas, the family bickering, the bankruptcy filing or something else but it's just not as good as it used to be. Is it me? Maybe. But on our recent visit the place was virtually empty with just a few other tables dining when the place used to be quite busy. That tells me I'm not the only disenchanted customer.
Great food - steak, lobster and Italian - and terrific service in a classy but relaxed atmosphere. We shared a 3 lb lobster and veal Marsala this time. Wonderful. Best neighborhood steak joint in Houston.
Great service and delicious food.
Great business lunch.
New Years Eve dinner. Everything was fantastic
Wonderful meal, great service, one of our favorites.
Fabulous place to celebrate Christmas!
Great service, great food. Expensive but well worth it
Food was very good. Service was not so good. Based on web site we were led to believe they would
have prime rib on Christmas Day. Not the case. Waiter then described a surf and turf completely different than what was served. It was good nonetheless it was not what we expected. One person in our party had the lobster and another a veal dish. Both were good. Overall a bit disappointed compared to other Palm experiences.
Bad management Greeting after a minute of standing. Manager was discussing strategy and then finally greeted us. Then our hostess cane and ask again about reservation. Already told manager our reservation then again. Manager should of told the hostess the reservation we had.
Just wasn’t worth 250 for 2. The NY strip for 2 had gristle. The best part was the Brussel sprouts.
Fantastic as always/wait bit more than usual. However our host was terrific. And handheld beautifully.
Our group has great time.
This is an annual Christmas Eve event for us. We always order something we can not prepare at home. FOr me it's the Lamb Chop (excellent), the wife has the Bacon Wrapped Scallops (again excellent). We would recommend The Palm for any special event or just a nice date night.
Christmas Eve, I had a waiter I have never seen before and I would have rather had someone else. Every table in the restaurant was full. Also, Creamed Spinach should be renamed Creamed Nutmeg, because that’s all I tasted. That said, it’s still my favorite steakhouse in town.
The Palm was so amazing. We had our son’s 17th birthday dinner there and the staff could not have been more accommodating and fabulous!! Everything was perfect. Thank you thank you!!
Love the friendly, upscale casual, neighborhood atmosphere of this restaurant. Quick and helpful service. I had the steak a la stone, a large sliced my strip with sautéed onions and peppers. My wife had chicken marsala and our friend the chicken parm from their Italian menu. All excellent. Highly recommend the Palm in Houston.
We were seated not far from the bar and it was so loud at time we couldn’t enjoy our conversation.
Food and service was very good. However we were disappointed that no Manager visited our table even though we were celebrating a very special 94th birthday.
We're so happy you chose to spend her 94th birthday with us! I'm sorry it didn't seem a manager visited your table, but you'll be happy to know you actually had interaction with 2 managers! Stephanie greeted you at the door with a big "happy birthday!" she also stopped by during the meal. Toward the end of the meal, Leslie, the GM (that's me!) stopped by and asked how everyone was enjoying the birthday meal. We genuinely hope you enjoyed it all!
James was our waiter. Very attentive and would have him wait on us again. Thanks,
Steaks, veggies and service were great. Perfect drinks. The wedge and dinner salads were awful, however. Wedge tasted like no other wedge I've had in my lifetime. Weird dressing (Seemed like oil and vinegar ... definitely not blue cheese ... with a half thimble-full of bacon). Wife found her salad inedible.
Delicious food and great service
