We arrived excited to see the new place and left disappointed. When our server was with us, he was attentive and polite, however, I sat for 5 minutes without silver ware as others began to eat their appetizers. I asked for no crispy onions on my salad and my salad arrived w/ crispy onions. I asked for lime and received lemons. Little things, yes, but small annoyances that continued including an unnecessary charge on the bull. The restaurant is beautiful and the setting is enjoyable, unfortunately, the overall experience won’t have me returning anytime soon.
The service was excellent! The ambiance was beautiful! The food was fantastic! This was my first time at the Houston location & I would highly recommend it!!
Excellent service. Food was great. We will definitely go back!
They restaurant didn’t have any lobsters under 4 lbs.
the king crab was fishy and old
I know there are new owners I hope they don’t change what we have been a customed to
Excellent service, great food as always. Miss all the wall portraits from the previous location.
Service was excellent. Pianist was wonderful. Seafood was good, Wedge salad was not. They served the core of the lettuce. Would have preferred a traditional wedge salad. I didn’t like the thickness of the Veal Parmesan.
The service was awesome everyone was so friendly and the food was perfection!
Was a wonderful meal. Everything was cooked very well!
Would have been a complete 5 star night but our daughter’s six ounce filet still was not cooked medium after three attempts. Everything else was perfect. Wine steward reported back that the requested vintage 2018 was unavailable but the 2016 Duckhorn cab was great after decanting for not quite an hour.
Food came out over very long period of time, mains, then sides, then wine. Overall nice, still working out some kinks.
We have dined at the Palm many times. Twice at the new location. We understand that the night we were there was Christmas Eve. We waited over 15 min for our waiter to even come to the table. The second he did he told us that the restaurant had over 300 covers and he was busy. He proceeded to lean over our table. Touch our menus. We were doing our best to keep distance due to the recent rise. Regardless food was cold, drinks were wrong, food wasn't cooked proper. The waiter was never around.
Do yourself a favor and visit this lovely restaurant in downtown Houston. It is elegant with an upscale bar with fabulous drinks and live music. The service is unmatched. The staff truly cares about your experience. The food is absolutely amazing – everything we tasted melted in other mouths. Highly recommend!
Food and was excellent! Be back soon.
Having been a frequent visitor of the former location on Westheimer I had absolutely no second thoughts of reserving a table for a holiday dinner with two dear friends tonight.
I could not have been more wrong!
The very young waiter was extremely distracted and although admittedly friendly, he managed to mess our order up significantly… to be specific he didn’t even place one of our entrées with the kitchen!
Imagine the surprise (and disappointment) when after a 40 minute wait for the entrées to arrive only two were placed on the table! In addition to that, the sides that were ordered were not correct and only luke warm at
most. (Imagine mashed potatoes that are
almost cold and you’ll get the picture!)
This would NEVER have happened at the former location.
The former recognizable, tenured waitstaff seem to have vanished.
There is really no way to describe how incredibly disappointed we were after having been so thrilled with former visits to the Westheimer location!
We will never, ever return to this location. There are numerous other restaurants in Houston that offer a much higher quality experience.
This is such a shameful experience for a restaurant that has served celebrities and presidents….
The Palm was an Institution, it is now a below average steakhouse. We sat for over an hour before the manager came over to tell us that our food was not up to code so they were redoing it. 30 minutes later, still no food on the table and no one informing us as to what was going on. We spoke to the manager and told him, that the purchase of The Palm by Tilman Fertitta has ruined an institution. My husband and I both have been visiting the Houston Palm for over 30 years, and it is now nothing more than a posh looking Landry's. We never got our food, asked for our check and left. We will never be back and it is very sad that what was our favorite steak and lobster house is no more. Lastly, your new manager is no Jimmy Martin.
Great meal in a great atmosphere! This was my first time and I definitely want to return. The filet was great and so were the potatoes au gratin - they were exceptional. I also added the shrimp and crab topping which was great. Caesar salad was decent, but still tasty. Cocktails were good but somewhat overpriced. Crab cake app was good but a little too small. The key lime pie for desert was truly outstanding. Overall, 5 stars. A truly outstanding meal and great experience!
Great, friendly, and helpful service. Food was good and portions were large. The only real negatives inside was noise. With the piano playing and all the service noise, it was difficult to carry on a conversation at the table (huh?, I didn't catch that, could you repeat?) Outside, the valet service, which is not comped (after an expensive meal that seems a little chintzy) was understaffed and unorganized which left a sour taste at the end of what was otherwise an enjoyable evening.
We had been dining at the original Palm in Houston for 20+ years and had a great experience each time. This new Palm was terribly lacking. The food was just ok, the service was slow, our waiter was inattentive throughout the night, we won't be back to this restaurant.
Great atmosphere it was quiet but there was also great live music in the background. Our waiter Alexander was really knowledgeable about the menu and provided great service. Everything we had was delicious. We would definitely recommend.
The food was great and service was wonderful. They were friendly and knowledgeable about the restaurant.
Fui cliente de Palm Westheimer por años y siempre quede satisfecho. Esta fue mi primera y ultima vez en Down town. La comida muy mala. La langosta terrible. Muy mal.
Was a great experience first time there and will go again.
Service and food were wonderful!
Water service was abrupt and spilt each time during fill up. Sent back two dishes due to being improperly prepared. The wine we ordered was not available. Had to ask for silverware, bread, hot tea refill and wine top off.
Piano music too loud when you hear in dining room and outside on street
Wedge salad fabulous. 6 0z filet chared beyong cutting Great martinis
Megan waitress was goodie
Great food and great service. Love the new location downtown.
Grew up going to the Palm and was so excited to bring my fiancé for thanksgiving with my parents. It wasn’t great… busser removed my dads martini thinking it was finished and it wasn’t. Corey our server though was 5 stars. I don’t write many reviews but felt like it was worth giving a shot out to The service. Stay away from the old fashion’s it taste like they do a pre make. It was pure sugar! We probably wont be giving it another shot but hope it goes back to the old palm ways on Westhiemer.
Thanksgiving and two birthdays
So pleased to see the new location and loved the new meeting rooms and expanded wine list. A perfect blend of the old and the new. Our server, Ramon, was flawless and the General Manager came by personally to be sure everything was to our satisfaction. Definitely on our "regular return" list.
The restaurant is beautiful, the staff is terrific, our waiter, Tony is the best! Kudos to Eric, the manger for doing such a great job pulling the new location together! We’ll be back often…
The food, as always at a Palm restaurant, was superb.
The service, on this occasion, was not at all what we would deem acceptable. The waiter seemed nice enough but tended to disappear for lengthy periods. We ordered lobster gnocchi but were served truffle gnocchi instead (this was corrected). We ordered a decaf coffee with dessert but the coffee came well after the dessert was finished. One of the other waitresses kind of helped us out when our waiter disappeared.
The piano player/singer was fantastic and added greatly to our experience.
Overall, this was a disappointing experience but we loved the food and will return for another try.
Outstanding! Food was great; the restaurant itself was gorgeous! I am going back again for sure.
First time at the new downtown location. The design is a nice blend between keeping the Palm idea while being timeless modern. Our waiter was great! Friendly, very service oriented. The food was prepared with large portions! Well done to the Chef and servers!
Great food and service.. a little noisy, but we could still hear each other talk.
Too noisy for a business lunch
Fanflipingtastic!! Food, staff, & drinks!! We loved it!!
Another nice time at The Palm. Food and service are first rate.
Staff was exceptional and friendly! Especially our server. Food had wonderful layers of flavor. Veal was one dish and linguine & clams. Delicious. The live music 🎵 was incredible talent.
Hemos estado en varias ocasiones en este restaurante, sin embargo, esta vez no superaron nuestras expectativas. Sentimos un poco duras la langosta y las manitas de cangrejo estuvieron también duras. Esta vez no fue la mejor.
