In the late 1800's, the Townsend family came to Chippewa Lake and created the estate that is now The Oaks Lakeside Restaurant. Five prominent oaks that stood in a semi-circle on the front lawn gave the estate its original name: Five Oaks. The estate has operated as a dining establishment and bar since 1961.

The Oaks has become best known for the glorious wedding ceremonies and receptions held exclusively on the property. We are also well known for our traditional Easter, Mother's Day and Thanksgiving Buffets. We take pride in all of our social and business events that we host.

The Oaks offers the finest in al fresco lakeside dining. In the colder months, join us and have a seat next to one of our cozy fires or a lake view table to watch the fall colors or a gentle snow over the lake. No matter what time of year, the sunsets are always incredible. Our seats are often limited, so reservations are advised.

We have been going to the Oaks Lodge every year for over 30 years. The ambiance is always superb and a true delight. However, the quality of the food has fluctuated, ranging from bad to occasionally pretty good. Yesterday, June 18, we had dinner there, and the food was truly a disappointment. The menu was extremely limited. I ordered the tacos ($31), but the chicken was chewy and lacked any Mexican flavor. My sister had the seafood mac and cheese ($42), and the sauce was extremely bland. My friend ordered a plain hamburger, which arrived without a bun. She had to wait a while just to get the missing bun. The food is overpriced, and many of the items don’t even list the price. It feels as though you’re paying solely for the setting. The waitress seemed distracted and overwhelmed by the computer system used for payment, and many of our items were delivered late.

We absolutely love this restaurant. The lake views are beautiful as well as the option of outdoor dining showcasing the beautiful gardens. The food is outstanding and the staff are so welcoming and provide great service. We had Tomahawk steaks with Alaskan King Crab Legs for our table of 4 people. We had calamari and shrimp appetizers which are always very good. Highly recommend the place! They have a nice bar inside and the drinks are always outstanding.

We have loved this place for years but the last few visits the food quality is not even close to what it should be for the premium prices. I ordered the halibut 48.00 the fish was extremely overcooked dry and hard. My wife’s salmon was the same we waited 25 minutes for our drinks. To be fair on that they were using a new ordering system. But that does not excuse the poor food production. Also we had the choice of the whipped potatoes or the whipped potatoes also we had a choice of asparagus or asparagus which was a mix of over cooked with color washed out and under cooked almost as if it was being held in a steam table and then some new dumped on top. Certainly not up to the standards I would expect. The service was very friendly and personable and as always the ambiance is great

Although this restaurant is a short drive from our house we don’t frequent it often. Had company in town and thought this would be a nice spot as food is generally good and views from the patio are nice. Service was mediocre. Don’t know whether they were short staffed but our server seemed overwhelmed. Forgot to tell us about specials, had to ask. Went to order the halibut, stock menu item, we’re out. Caesar salad, they have no romaine. How do you run out of lettuce. Our bill was over $300 with little alcohol. I’ll enjoy dinners at Flemings or Hyde Park

The Oaks is such a beautiful place to dine. The views are perfect, whether you want the coziness of the inside or the sunsets on the lake. The menu has everything from steak to pasta to seafood. I ordered the pork chop and I can say it's one of the best I've ever tasted. We love The Oaks.
