In the late 1800's, the Townsend family came to Chippewa Lake and created the estate that is now The Oaks Lakeside Restaurant. Five prominent oaks that stood in a semi-circle on the front lawn gave the estate its original name: Five Oaks. The estate has operated as a dining establishment and bar since 1961.

The Oaks has become best known for the glorious wedding ceremonies and receptions held exclusively on the property. We are also well known for our traditional Easter, Mother's Day and Thanksgiving Buffets. We take pride in all of our social and business events that we host.

The Oaks offers the finest in al fresco lakeside dining. In the colder months, join us and have a seat next to one of our cozy fires or a lake view table to watch the fall colors or a gentle snow over the lake. No matter what time of year, the sunsets are always incredible. Our seats are often limited, so reservations are advised and often required.

Let us do all the work while you enjoy your family and friends. Our wonderful Thanksgiving buffet will be the perfect opportunity with turkey, ham, prime rib, salmon, cod, chicken, an array of side dishes, appetizers and desserts. We will be seating from 11 am to 4 pm. Only the buffet will be available on that day! The price is $58 for adults, $25 for children 6 - 12 and children 5 and under are free. I was very excited to try something new so my husband and I went here for our anniversary. The patio was beautiful. Nice music. After waiting 15 minutes for someone to show up to place an order….We ordered an espresso Martini and a mule. Both horrible. I have ordered a lot of espresso martini and this one was so terrible I didn’t even drink it. It was water down coffee with a lemon slice in it. Next we ordered the calamari and it was not impressive…definitely was frozen and not fresh. I’m not a picky eater and will eaten about anything! My stuffed salmon was one of the worst things I have ever had the beans were cold, potatoes no flavor. The salmon and stuffed crab were not good. My husband ordered the surf and turf and didn’t care for his meal either. We just wanted to leave as soon as possible without any fuss. But our waitress questioned my husband why he didn’t finish his meal and he politely said it was just okay. She said she would get the manager and we said NO that’s okay….she still brought her over anyways and we explained we weren’t trying to bring her over. I don’t even think the manager said one word. Not sorry, Nothing. She comped his meal (which we weren’t looking for). It overall was a horrible experience! I can’t believe this place has good reviews. Again, I’m not picky but this was by far one of the worst meals/experiences I have ever had. We won’t be back.

Beautiful setting, live music, very good food. Why not a higher rating? Service was timely; after waiting more than 30 minutes with a glass of water. If we walked in to a crowded restaurant this may be acceptable. When a restaurant offers a reservation they should have enough staff to provide timely service.

My husband and I thought the Alaskan blue cod and the mahi mahi were excellent! We really enjoyed listening to Standard Time too. It was a wonderful evening being on the beautiful patio by the lake.

The Oaks is our favorite “special occasion” or “just because” restaurant. You can sit outside in a beautiful lakeside atmosphere or inside with a beautiful view of the lake or by a nice warm fireplace in the winter. The food is always fabulous, the cocktails are amazing and the bar experience is so fun, especially when you can talk to the locals about their life on Chippewa Lake, the old park days, find people that knew your relatives and maybe even purchase a beautiful painting from Bob Moats. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. The service is perfectly timed out. We never ever feel rushed. The very few and rare times they may have been short staffed, they made your small wait well worth it. The music is so fun and relaxing and the view of the lake, especially at sunset is just gorgeous. We have brought our aging parents for their birthdays and they continue to talk about the experience. We have brought friends, family and out of town guests. The Oaks NEVER disappoints. We highly recommend The Oaks Lakeside!

Wonderful experience and delicious dinner! After prior dinners (from over two years ago), I was prepared for fantastic ambiance with sub-par food. I was sorely mistaken. From the very first greeting by the hostess, and her providing an excellent patio location to avoid rain showers, to our server's (Anna) helpful advice, to the delicious food, we had a beautiful evening. Starting with grilled flatbread for four people and then wild mushroom ravioli and pork chop entrees, the food was very well prepared; just perfect. Compliments to the chef -- everything was delicious. The Oaks is a remarkable place. Our worldly out-of-town friends were very impressed. We will be back.

The Oaks Lakeside has a beautiful setting overlooking Chippewa Lake which happens to be the 2nd largest natural lake in Ohio. The outside ambience is very pleasant and scenic. The facility doesn't seem to have enough servers as they seemed to have been overwhelmed when we were there. The food is above average and all the staff is very friendly. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to have a relaxing meal outdoors with a very scenic setting.

Lamb was undercooked, waitress was not attentive to our table as drinks were empty, plates not bussed, rarely stopped to see if we needed anything, and we had to flag her down to get our check. We ate outside and the yellow jackets were out of control swarming our table. That's a risk with being outside but want folks to know they were aggressive. Had the plates been bussed, they would have been a little better.

The reason I gave food a 4 star was because my quiche was cool and yes I should have said something, however, I shouldn’t have had to say anything. My food should have come out at least warm. Also, 4 stars for ambience was because all six of us had to battle the yellow jackets. Again, not your fault, but something should have been to prevent them. I would have tolerated dogs on the patio, and I don’t like dogs on patios! We certainly will be back.

Beautiful location- fantastic view. Came to see The Divots- they are always great. Christy provided personalized service above and beyond. Such a nice, knowledgeable, helpful person we truly enjoyed. Dinner was good, wedge salad lettuce was the only issue. The after dinner desert martini Bananas Foster was fun and it was so nice of Christy to encourage us to stay to enjoy an extra drink and watch the sunset over the lake. Would definitely recommend

Absolutely gorgeous setting on the patio overlooking the lake. Food was great. Service was very slow but we didn’t mind as we were in no rush and having a great time. Server was awesome, place was obviously busy.

We had a 7:45 p.m. reservation on a Saturday night. It was a busy night so we were seated a little after 8 p.m. which allowed me to try one of their house margaritas. (Which was very good)There was only 1 bartender on duty while we were waiting to be seated. He did a fantastic job keeping up with patrons at the bar and customers already seated in the restaurant. The food was really good. I had the crab and lobster stuff salmon. My husband had a steak and my son had the porch chop special. Compliments to the chef…it was all seasoned and cooked to perfection. Our waitress was THE best. She knew what we needed before we even asked. She gave us her suggestions for dinner. It was obvious she had been working there for awhile. Thank you for making it a memorable night :) Reservations at 7:45 would be a perfect time for an August reservation. The grounds of the restaurant were beautiful. This place has a lot of character and the food was amazing. Definitely recommend if you are visiting nearby.

It was terrible! Took 3 hours to get our food (order was never put in), waitress did not come to check on us for almost 2 hours, food was freezing cold when it came out and all the offered was to heat it up.

Everything was wonderful. Our poor server was overloaded and didn’t attend to our table as well as she could have but she was very busy. She was very nice and apologetic and we did understand. Loved everything else!! Food was excellent!!
