   In the wake of the pandemic robbing New Yorkers of so many reasons to be, well, a New Yorker, Metrograph's reopening is a badly needed reminder of the pleasures of going out. This place just gets it right. An unhurried cocktail here is civilization distilled. The food is very, very good (if not transcendent); the service attentive but not cloying, and the vibe on-point but not trendy. The steak tartar ranks among Gothan's best. There is, however, a wide gulf between the service upstairs in the Commissary (professional and knowing) and downstairs at the door (unhelpful and borderline unhinged). It feels like two different venues. Just endure the absurdities of the front door staff, knowing that once you make it upstairs all will be right. But, management, if you are reading this whoever trains upstairs should train downstairs as well.

   Hostess could have been better. Within 30 mins of us sitting there, she came to our table and said she would need the table so how long did we think we were going to stay there. We had a reservation.

   Food is delicious it’s especially good after or before a film here. I’d say the only issue I have here is it often takes the server awhile to come back and anytime I see one they often don’t see or notice me till someone sees I finished eating or to refill water

   The service makes you feel indifferent, come in spend or don’t come in and spend, we can care less. That is the feeling you get as you are walking in. You feel, as if you are being spoken to by the staff, not a welcoming conversation. Slow service and a slight feeling of judgment came from our waitress. Staff is more concerned with each other, how they look, and not with service. My first time and last all in one visit. Would not recommend to a friend.

    The Metrograph Commissary had a cool retro vibe and we loved the intimate atmosphere. The food was very good and the choices were abundant. The cocktails were fun and the staff was very friendly. Chef Nic even came out to see how our meal was and we appreciated his time. It was a great place for a date night!
